âMhm.â His apology was vacant, though that was expected. She was now standing beside him, leaning against the stone of the building, looking into the courtyard. She raised her eyebrow at him, normally she wouldâve declined the offer, but she felt inclined to agree. âWhy not?â Reaching out and taking the rollie gently from his hands, she paused before raising it to her mouth, âYouâre a terrible influence.â
Dom puffed away absently at the joint, letting the smoke burn the back of his throat and not caring much, not even coughing. He was shocked that Eve finally took him up on the offer, especially considering it was weed this time, not tobacco. âLiving differently is not being a bad influence.â He watched as she raised it to her mouth, wondering if she even knew how to smoke, âI think youâll enjoy it.âÂ

dom & dae // sadie hawkins dance
Never did he think he would ever make an appearance at a school dance. It wasnât that Dae was straight edge, it was just another one of those things where he couldnât ever get the nagging thought out of his head that this was something his late girlfriend could never experience. That was alright though. Dae wasnât here completely alone, which made him feel slightly better about himself. Though, he imagined with everyone in his advanced French class, he would be able to find someone to talk to rather fast.
He stood on the edges, mostly people watching. He had the perfect amount of alcohol in him to really enjoy himself. He was careful not to over drink, because the line between fun and messy was fine. It was only when he heard his professorâs voice that he looked over with a goofy grin on his face. Â âI figured you would know this sort of information, considering you are the chaperone,â he pointed out before laughing slightly. âAlready dying to not be surrounded by a bunch of inebriated college students?â
âYouâd think I would know that, among other things,â he paused to laugh, âbut tragically I am plagued, no, cursed with stupidity and lack of foresight.â His initial reasoning for accepting a chaperone position had been for the experience, to see what an American dance was like, but he had had enough of the experience, having stood there for an hour with the same glass of virgin punch in his hand. âI think I actually like the part that most of everyone here is not sober,â he rubbed absently at his pink tinged eyes, âmakes it just a tad bit interesting. Are you enjoying the night so far? If you say yes, Iâll have to assume youâre inebriated and write you up, so choose your words carefully.âÂ

dom & acacia // sadie hawkins dance
Her decision to skip out on many of the pregame invites in lieu of getting an extra hour to work on one of her assignments was now turning into a bad one. It was an odd sense of being relaxed and on edge at the same time as the whole place was filled with young adults pushing their limits with the Catholic restrictions that were in place for a social gathering, but it seemed like none of the more prim professors and campus staff were in attendance, much less any of the more secular of the staff. Students were still expected to show up to chapel tomorrow but apparently if half of the usual attendees werenât there, it wouldnât be a surprise.
âProbably too long for anyoneâs liking but mostly everyone breaks off for their own thing before the night is really over,â Acacia answered, finding her French professor looking more out of place than some. She happened to show up next to him, a little away from where the smell of alcohol seemed to congregate with the various perfumes and hairspray in the room. The air was electric and everything was fun but Acacia just didnât feel like participating just yet. âAre you asking because you need to know how long youâve sold your soul for? Iâm pretty sure you can sneak out and no one would really tell.â
Dominick groaned at the idea of this night lasting any longer, that he would have to continue standing in his place by the wall for several more hours, watching the dull display. At first it was an interesting, a cultural lesson, but heâd heard the same song by the Beatles five times now and he was ready to go home. To himself, he wondered if he could just write everyone up and end the dance prematurely, but certainly another chaperone would stop him before he could succeed.Â
âWell, Iâve sold my soul for the rest of all eternity,â his tone was sarcastic but, technically, he wasnât joking, âbut yes I would like to know how much longer I have to stay at the dance.â He pondered over the idea of just walking out, but there were only two other chaperones. Certainly someone would notice, and then heâd be in hot water. It didnât help that none of the other professors liked him at all. âYou donât seem to be having much fun either.âÂ
evehansennâ:
âIâm sure you are.â She stopped and turned to face him, the cool breeze felt nice against Eveâs scarlet cheeks. She probably overreacted, but she wouldnât let him know that. âItâs rude to stick your fingers in peoplesâ mouths yâknow?.â She started walking back towards him, âregardless, I needed to cool down anyways, I donât think many people invested in deodorant this year.â Â
âMaybe it is,â he shrugged, nonchalantly. He did not see the gravity of the situation that she seemed to, not did he really care to. âIâm sorry.â Glancing around and noting that they were both alone and cloaked in darkness, he withdrew a half smoked joint from his pocket and lit it, feeling his high beginning to wane. âWant some?âÂ

Eve was gobsmacked, and embarrassed. She suddenly felt 12 years old being scolded by her father. She stuck the wad of gum to the wall next to his head, merely missing his hair. Then turning on her heel and heading towards to door, having known her attendance for extra credit had certainly been given. She shot a look back over her shoulder before turning the corner into the corridor.Â
âYouâre acting like this is my fault!â He called after her, standing still for a moment. Maybe he shouldnât have done that, but she wouldnât stop smacking her gum after all. It was basically an invitation.Â
Though set in his reasoning, he followed behind her, catching up quickly due to the sheer fact that he had much longer legs. âI am sorry if that embarrassed you.â They were outside now, and Dom found himself thankful for the fresh air. He hadnât realized how sweltering the building had grown in the time heâd spent with his back against the wall.Â
evehansennâ:
She glared at him, then back at the dance floor. She wasnât going to spit her gum out, what was she? A dog? She remained quiet for a moment, chewing her gum as she very well pleased. âYou sound like my father.â She was frequently told to spit her gum out growing up, but she would take the gum and stick it right onto whatever was closest to where she was standing in the moment out of spite. She cocked her eyebrow and blew again, making a crisp, loud snap.Â
Dom had had enough, and he was enough to not think much of the social conventions he had mentally accused Eve of not following. Without much thought, he stuck his fingers into her mouth and pulled the gum out, before taking her hand and putting the wet mound into her palm. âItâs that easy.â He said, with a smug smile crossing his face.Â
evehansennâ:
âSmart & pretty? Youâre nicer when youâre inebriated.â She popped her gum at him. âChess club? Grow up.â Imagining one of the condescending meat bags trying to have a conversation with her made her laugh, âThey wouldnât even know what to do with themselves if a woman had an opinion.â
She knew the gum pissed him off, she actually enjoyed the fact. She grinned at him, âMy dentist says I have perfect teeth,â she blew a tiny bubble, making sure not to snap it, âwhy does it bother you?â She cocked her head to the side, amusingly.
âIâm not inebriated, believe it or not.â Though he wished he were, actually. Being drunk mightâve been a bit better than being stoned, but then he mightâve felt inclined to actually dance which was an all around bad decision.Â
Another scoff came out of him, that dentist had to be a liar. No one could go through that much gum without coming out of the other side with a dead tooth. âIt bothers me because of the sound, itâs annoying. Spit it out.â He demanded, his tone a tad more serious but his smile still remaining.Â

dom & emmett // sadie hawkins dance
Emmett rolled his eyes, accepting the fact that his professor would not be openly admitting to being under the influence of marijuana. âYeah, yeah whatever you say. Perhaps you should try getting to bed earlier and not staying up so late with your monster plants.â Emmett could tell that the wine was making him unusually bold, which was a bit dangerous. Still, he did not back down from what he said, though he was too afraid to meet Domâs eyes afterwards and moved on quickly. Another reason he felt comfortable to say such a thing was due to the absence of people in their immediate vicinity. âBut I digress. I think the dance only goes on for a few hours? Couldnât be more than three.âÂ
He raised an eyebrow at what Dom said next and raised his cup of water to his lips to take a drink. He maintained eye contact over the brim of the cup. âIn this hypothetical, do you let students come over to your house and test that theory?â
It seemed all of his students were unnecessarily bold, especially now that they knew of his little secret. It was ridiculous, but something he had to tolerate. âThere is more to my private life than monster plants, believe it or not.â He did not care to expand on that idea, telling a drunk student the details of oneâs personal life was not the most astute idea, even a stoned Dom could see that. Dom had his gaze firmly set on Emmett, though it seemed he was avoiding meeting his eyes.Â
âYou know, youâre really funny.â He chuckled softly, taking a sip of the long forgotten punch heâd been holding in his left hand, âI think maybe I might let a student come and test that theory if I liked him enough.â He was aware of the game between the two of them, and was curious to see how far Emmett would take it. Certainly he didnât actually want to go to his house, right?
evehansennâ:
âHard to believeâŚ?â She shook her head slightly, chuckling.Â
His grasp caught her by surprise, the first physical touch between the two, Eve felt nauseous. She took a moment to admire his smile, âI never said I was nice.â She spoke softly. She pulled her wrist from his grip, rubbing her other over the are. âIt doesnât seem to bother you much, though.â She leaned back onto the wall, reaching for a piece of gum from her purse and popping it into her mouth.
âOh, you know, youâre a smart pretty girl, I suppose.â He was quiet for a moment before speaking again, âif not a little irritating. Surely thereâs a man in chess club or something like that for you, right?â Maybe that was a little rude, but in his head, Dom thought it was funny.Â
Again with the gum. Eve had a tendency to chew gum without any care for social convention or standard politeness and the sound of it drove Dom up a wall, especially being as high as he was now. He needed it to stop. âYou know what does bother me, though? All your gum chewing. Youâre going to get a cavity at this rate.âÂ

Eve watched the stress of her question play out on his face, he smelled like expensive cologne, and skunk. She lightly flinched when he reached out to touch her dress, almost stepping back, she stayed quiet, watching him thumb over the fabric intently, then back towards the silhouette of his face. âThey wouldâve said no anyways.â She cleared her throat, breaking her gaze.
Leaving room for Jesus, hilarious. She rolled her eyes, âI didnât say you personally smell bad, Iâm saying why do you stink in this present moment, and I think you were overcompensating,,â Poking a finger at his chest, âit gave you away.âÂ
"I find that hard to believe.â He said, his gaze on the dance floor. They were playing a song by Roy Orbison that had been plaguing the local radios, the dancing students seemed to enjoy it enough though. A grin crossed his face as he watched a dancer lose her shoe in the crowd, having been kicking her legs too hard.Â
Dominick was accepting now that the cologne had not worked in his favor, and instead exposing him as the filthy stoner he was at present moment. Luckily, he wasnât the one under scrutiny by chaperones. Grabbing her wrist before she could pull her hand away from the poke, he said, with an amused smile, âyou know, youâre not very nice.âÂ

dom & emmett // sadie hawkins dance
Of course Dom would show up to the school dance to chaperone stoned off of his ass. Why wouldnât he? If this was as much of a drag for him as it was for Emmett, he could understand his teachers desire to not be sober. Especially because Dom likely had to stay the whole time and EmmettâŚ.well, Emmett could leave whenever he wanted to. He was enjoying himself for now, however. His professor was someone that Emmett found more and more intriguing each day.Â
Emmett met Domâs eyes, a half smirk on his lips. âOh and showing up to the school dance to oversee a bunch of minors while stoned is up to code then?â he said this jokingly, knowing that his professor wasnât actually considering turning him in to the administration. âThe least you could have done was brought some to share.âÂ
Dominick raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms, not breaking eye contact though it was growing increasingly hard to keep it up. He wondered if he looked crazy. âIâm not even stoned. As I said, I have no idea what youâre talking about. Iâm merely tired.â Yet that didnât account for the fact that he had doused himself in sandalwood cologne or his inability to keep his eyes fully open. Maybe he was not being as discreet at he believed, but he was comfortably shielded by the darkness of the room, at least.Â
âAnd whoâs to say I donât have more?â He had a lot more, in fact. Believing himself to be above the law, he saw no problem in keeping illegal things in his car or on his person, especially if he planned to use them soon. âBut if I did. I think it might be too strong for you. In this hypothetical, I grow it myself, so,â Domâs garden wasnât just for show, hidden among the foliage was the occasional marijuana plant or psilocybin, after all, he liked to have a good time.Â
evehansennâ:
She blushed at the compliment, looking down at her soft pink satin dress, âthank you, Iâll take any excuse to feel pretty.â She loved every reason to dress up, one of her favourite thing about Sundays. She placed her foot against the wall behind her and pushed her knee forward. Scoffing, Eve replied, âWhat do you think? I donât exactly have a line of suitors at my beck and call.â She extended her arm, showing off her non-existent crowd of lovers. âHas anything interesting happened yet, and why do you stink?â
Was he really that obvious? He thought heâd disguised the smell of weed well, having doused himself in cologne, but that must have been his punishment for smoking a second joint just before the dance began. At least he was too high to worry about what trouble he might get into as a result. He nodded, repeating âitâs nice,â touching the fabric of the sleeve before withdrawing his hand without second thought.Â
âWell, you still couldâve asked someone. I donât know what goes on in your personal life.â He shrugged, looking over at her and wondering if she could see his bloodshot eyes in the dark room. âThere have been a few drunk people and some room not left open for Jesus, but not really anything else. And itâs rude to tell people they smell bad, Eve.âÂ

dom & emmett // sadie hawkins dance
Emmett had never been fond of school dances. He found them to be rather boring and he thought that all of the themes were clichĂŠ. The music was always horrendous and the punch was always disgustingly sweet. He also never quite liked the idea of all of his classmates in the same room outside of an academic setting. Maybe that was a result of his own inability to form connections with others or maybe it was just because they were all annoying enough in school that he wasnât too thrilled on the prospect of seeing them after. Perhaps a bit of both.
He felt the same way about attending the Sadie Hawkins dance, but he reluctantly found himself there anyways. Before he had arrived, Emmett had downed half a bottle of wine and was decently tipsy. There was no way he was going to make it through a school event completely sober. As his stomach was settling, he stayed by the wall and observed the room for a bit, looking for familiar faces. Emmett jumped ever so slightly when a voice spoke up next to him - he hadnât been aware that anyone was standing there in his hazy state. Looking over, he was surprised to find that it was Dom, but slightly pleased. At least it was someone he knew. Emmett shrugged his shoulders in reply. âProbably long enough that youâll wish you would have blown off your professional duties and just smoked another joint.â he stated casually.Â
Dom laughed slightly before it morphed into a mild cough, how ironic. âFor the sake of my job, I believe I have to say that I honestly have no idea what youâre talking about.â The smile on his face was lazy but he was somewhat pleased he had been found out. At least it gave him something to talk about that wasnât dress related, and Emmett was right, he was already wishing heâd found a way out of his chaperone duties. It wasnât as if he was actually properly performing them, anyways.Â
Now staring at Emmett, Dom realized he mustâve shared the same thinking as him, his student was most definitely tipsy. He was hiding it well, but Dom could always tell by the way peopleâs faces would flush. âYou know, Iâm supposed to write up drunk people, itâs against school rules. Theyâll put you on probation.âÂ

dom & eve // sadie hawkins dance
Eve needed a breather, the dance had gotten uncomfortably humid. Seated at the back of the danced, she tried to make an exit strategy. She peered down into her handbag and pulled out her compact, her skin was dewy from the moisture. Frustrated, she tossed the compact back into her clutch, and stoop up from the table. She quickly found her route out and pushed through the sweaty bodies grinding against each other, wasnât this a Christian school? âEXCUSE ME!âÂ
Escaping the hoard of sweaty corpses she tried to find a place along the wall, preferably near a window. It was hard to make out the faces of the other solicitors, but that voice was unmistakable. The sound made the hair on her arms stand up, and tingling in her stomach. What time did the dance actually end? Eve was planning on making sure she had been seen , and then heading home; but now she felt her night was headed elsewhere. âI think 10pm, as thatâs the girlsâ dormitory curfew, remember?â She turned her head up at him, his height towering over her small stature.Â
Oh, it was Eve. Of course sheâd come to this, he thought to himself. That seemed up her alley. A few of his others students, not so much, but she tended to be more inclined to this sort of thing, he rationed. A little more college-aged girl than the rest of them.Â
Ignoring what she said, he looked her up and down before taking a sip of egregiously sugary punch and saying simply, âyou look nice.â Her outfit made him wonder if he was supposed to dress up more, as he was dressed quite simply with a floral tie, but then again he was just a chaperone. âDid you end up asking anyone to the dance?â

dom & open // sadie hawkins dance
Dominick was now thirty-two, almost thirty-three years of age, and was currently attending his very first dance. They simply were not the norm during his time in school, and to an extent, he found the concept a little silly. So, when they practically demanded he chaperone the Sadie Hawkins dance, he was more intrigued than vexed. Would anyone actually care or show up? Most of his students would, he know that, after he offered extra credit, but beyond that, he had no idea what to expect.Â
He was pondering this idea while glued to the side of the large mess hall the dance was taking place in. Admittedly, he was a little stoned and a little late to his duties. He hadnât expected the event to be such a big deal, but the dance was bustling with taffeta and tulle and drunk minors who were not hiding it well. He supposed perhaps his duties would include throwing said minors out, but what was the point of university if you didnât have a little fun, anyways?Â
âYou wouldnât happen to know how long this thing lasts, would you?â He asked the person standing next to him, refusing eye contact in fear that his eyes might be too pink.Â
nataliadeleonâ:
-
His furrowed brows and the twist of his lips, painted his face into an expression of pure bewilderment and if Natalia wasnât so taken with her professor she might have been concerned as to why that was his reaction to her very logical question. Instead she was distracted by the look of his long bangs and how soft and luscious his hair looked. She found herself curling her hands into a fist to avoid the temptation of reaching up and pushing said bangs out of his face. A move that may have been welcomed from a loved one but certainly never a student. A move she wouldnât have resisted if he were one of her flings or soon-to-be fling. She should honestly keep her distance to ensure she wouldnât embarrass herself but instead of taking a step back, Natalia took a step forward.Â
However the minute he mentioned she interrupted a very important meeting, Natalia stopped moving forward, her heart spiking with worry as her grip on her notebooks tightened. She stopped her advancement and her eyes locked onto his, âI didnât mean -â her apology cut off at the sudden appearance of his smile, so at odds with his statement. Yet it all made sense when her eyes finally looked to where he had pointed, a dangerous looking plant grabbing her attention. He was joking, oh thank god. Her sigh of relief was a little loud and she lifted her free hand to place over her racing heart. âYou scared me.â Nataliaâs small smile joined his teasing look, âQuite an important meeting indeed, my apologies,â Natalia tilted her head as she looked closer at the species. âis this the kind that you feed it spiders?â Natalia was a hundred percent okay with any plant that ate bugs for a living, no matter how creepy they looked.
Nataliaâs stomach did somersaults as she imagined herself in aâŚcompromising position with Dr. KĂśnig, her cheeks flushing into a rosy pink before she shook her head a little. Shaking some logic back into her system. âPull yourself together Natalia, he doesnât mean that.â âI guess itâs a good thing that Iâm okay with unconventional.â Natalia beamed. âI guess⌠anything that doesnât get me kicked out of school? Then again iâm extremely good at bending the rules, perhaps even breaking a few and not getting caught.â Perhaps she shouldnât be telling him all this but Natalia didnât get the impression that he would use this against her. âHonestly I view morality as societyâs method of control and Iâm currently in a rebellious phase.â
The way Natalia was looking at him was almost uncomfortable, and he wondered if perhaps he might need a witness there for things she might say, but then again his conduct wasnât always the most appropriate either. Still, he kept his hands firmly on the pot of his plant. âYes,â he nodded in agreement, âweâre talking about very important matters. How to solve the nuclear crisis and end the war in Vietnam, mostly. This guy is very smart, he might be our next president.â The little plant was unmoving, despite his claims. He nodded again, âitâs carnivorous in more ways than one.â Instead of explaining, he withdrew a jar containing one cellar spider that heâd been keeping under his desk. Having found it in his kitchen that morning, he figured it would be a nice treat. Instead of feeding it himself, he pushed the jar toward her, âit hasnât had lunch yet.âÂ
He knew what she was thinking, and he knew as soon as he had questioned her limits of morality that he shouldnât have. Not entirely new to teaching, he cursed himself for not considering that. âSo I suppose that rules out murder then,â he said, wistfully, âif you feed my plant, Iâll give you five points, how about that? Five more if you bring me another spider.â Tapping his fingers on his desk, he looked away in thought, âIâll have to think of more ideas. I find assignments as extra credit to be dreadfully boring. Maybe they help the learning process, but what fun are they? Anyways, itâs good youâre in a rebellious phase, Iâll have to keep that in mind.âÂ
