It’s a stupid title, I know, but never mind that.

So as you all know, David had to cancel his appearance at Wizard World Chicago last weekend because someone in his family was sick. Wizard World even posted a video he sent them with an apology for not being able to be there.

I don’t know about you, but we’ve talked about it over at twitter, and we’ve been quite worried (well, I say quite…) about David and his family these past several days. One thing we noticed in the video, though, is the depth of David’s apology; how disappointed he is he couldn’t come.

And then we did some thinking.

To us it seems pretty obvious that he and his family come first. Most of the people who went to Chicago were disappointed, of course, but more than anything, they were concerned about David and his family. Cos that’s our fandom. We all love and care for David, and we all want him and his family to be happy and well.

But we don’t know how obvious it is to David. Or if he feels that maybe he let his fans down this time. Obviously, for legit reasons, but still.

So we thought. Why don’t we make something? Just to, you know, send our love and healing waves and prayers, to show that we care and that the most important thing to us is him. We’ve gone through several ideas before thinking we could record and write something, and then send it to John Barrowman and ask him to pass along the message, like he did with David’s message that things are okay yesterday.

If you’d like to join in - great. You don’t have to do both; we can send a compilation of short videos and a digital booklet with written things (where you can say whatever you couldn’t fit in a short video, or even write a short message if that’s what you want). You can do either one (I, for one, don’t feel comfortable on video). Do let us know if you feel like joining.

We’ll be starting the submissions very very shortly, but before we do, we wanted to let you know we’ve got some new info about the project.

If you feel more comfortable contacting us off social media, please do contact us over there.

Second, we’ve decided to set the date limit for joining the project to this Sunday (September 10). Of course we want as many people in as possible, but we also need to complete this project, so we have to do this. Please do message/email/contact us before that date if you want to join in and we haven’t contacted you already.

Third, just to clarify - there are two parts for the project. One is a digital book compiled of our letters and thoughts and prayers (and whatever); the other is a video. You don’t have to take part in both - whatever you’re comfortable with. We’ll send everyone who joined in all the data anyway so you can take your time deciding.

Fourth, you don’t have to be one of those who were going to Chicago to meet him to join in. This is a whole-fandom thing. It’s to show him that we love him and care about him and his family, and there’s no need to apologise for putting them first.
