Since her response hadn’t exactly been well thought out, she wondered if it would make him suspicious or anything. It wouldn’t give him any reason to be, right? But her thoughts were becoming more and more a mess. Each thought seemed to be struggling to the focus of her mind, and every other thought was forced back. Her thoughts were more in fragments than complete sentences — she’d catch glimpses of various memories of Sora’s … and various memories of her own.
Sora in battle, Xion in battle. Sora’s defeat to Riku — and Xion’s defeat. Sora’s conversation with Riku, and Xion’s conversation with Naminé. Sora’s fight against Riku, Xion’s fight against Axel. Sora’s conversations at the beach, and Xion’s on the clock tower.
There were too many things to think about. It was almost like being in Castle Oblivion again. Being overwhelmed with memories.
Taking a deep breath, Xion attempted to focus on one thing. Not Sora, but… Roxas and Axel. As a group, the three of them… she knew Roxas would have turned to Axel for help, and Axel would have pulled her away. She didn’t have time for that, though. Xion made herself take deep breaths. Wrapping her arms around herself, she stared at the ground for a few moments, trying to clear her thoughts. Her best friends would be there for her… if they could.
"Uh.. yeah, they were great!" The darker-haired Keyblade wielder had barely heard what the other said, but she still had to respond. "Actually.. I spoke to Riku, before. He told me a bit."
When Sora mentioned that he thought they’d met before, Xion tried to remember. Some of her memories weren’t entirely there, after all. For a moment, she thought she saw a glimpse of the Dark City— that tower. It wasn’t clear, though. Perhaps.. a fuzzy, faded memory.
"We might have," Xion replied, still not looking directly at the boy. She thought of Roxas. She thought of Axel. They were somewhere, surely. Xion couldn’t have come to form her own person again without Roxas somehow doing the same, right? "I don’t exactly… remember. But you’ve met a lot of people, Sora." Xion looked up at him again, smiling at him — but the uneasy feeling wouldn’t leave. She was still paralyzed.
