My heritage won’t let me forget. My Kurdish blood won’t let me forget. My ancestral roots wont let me forget. But I too can never allow myself to forget. To forget would be a grave injustice to the thousands of lives lost on March 16th 1988. On this day a coward, Saddam Hussein, murdered 5000+ Kurdish people which is now recognized as the genocide in Halabja. I can not forget the struggle of my people for their struggle is surely mine. We have been outcastes in society and history. We have been killed for our culture, our language, our traditions- for simply being different. I embody my culture and take pity on the fool who thinks they can break the spirit of the Kurdish people. Long live the people of Kurdistan! Bijit Kurd u Kurdistan!
