tbh im afraid to get freaky but U (and my oomf) has INSPIRED me to speak my gospel so i just wanna talk about coyle x mother gooseberry rq…

ok so first of all, this ship is DEATHLY underrated. second of all, listen. i like the dynamic of phyllis and coyle having this rlly cute strange harmony and i want to talk about that first before talking about the other thing.

from my understanding:

mother gooseberry: caretaker, moral authority, treats everyone like children that needs to be corrected

coyle: needs obedience, agressive, would absolutely HATE being mothered

there is def a power struggle between them that i like.. best way i can explain is “love as a leash vs fear as a chain” they r symbolic opposites and i LOVE that

BUT LISTEN. ok i love them as some weird ass power couple but i think coyle reinforces dr. futtermans abuse, and i dont think people talk about this enough bc it makes them uncomfy (which i understand, but unfortunately i do not see this enough in the outlast community which is disappointing)

BUT AGAIN, phyllis is mentally 14 years old and in her voicelines she talks about coyle saying hes handsome/recognizing hes an authority figure and i def see it in a way how kids get attracted to authority figures/good looking ppl, and she would try to also seek out approval and affection.

coyle on the other hand is known to be charismatic but very controlling and abusive. he beats people down and “disciplines” them but he also gives them “gifts”

from what we see in the game already she already acts out roles learned from her trauma: caretaker, punisher, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY “good girl”

are u seeing where im getting at… i love both dynamics but i cant help but see it mostly as a predator/prey relationship. for me personally, it grates on my mind that shes a traumatized adolescent mind in an adult body, shaped by abuse and conditioning. (it is why she is my ultimate comfort character. im gonna heal her trauma and also beat her up) AND i believe if coyle knew, he would probably take advantage of that. (he fucking calls her a “deeply hysterical woman” but is sexually attracted to her anways LMFAO i feel like yall under estimate how much of a freak this guy is, this mfer is a CLOSETED FREAK)

INN CONCLUSION.. their relationship manufactures trauma loops and he will just destabilize phyllis further while phyllis encourages coyles brutality. and also it turns me on. 👍👍 i want coyle to noncon her ok thx for coming to me ted talk
