Alastor hadnât even been sure there were other customers sitting down with him. Heâd been so caught up in what he was doing before - and then the sign completely washed all his focus away - that he only noticed the comings and goings. He felt almost guilty that he was disturbing others. Almost. And when he saw it was Fawley that really went away. He could handle it. âI didnât notice you there,â he said flatly. âPerhaps because Iâve been so consumed by the absolute chaos this faulty sign is causing.â He was being a bit melodramatic, but lately everything felt like the end of the world; perhaps because it felt like they were facing it at every turn. He dug his fingernails into the palm of his hand. âWhat are you doing here? Reading that? At this hour?â Moody cared about the other Aurors, even if he wouldnât admit it out loud. Rather, heâd keep tabs on their personal lives and demand information from them to make sure they werenât killing themselves. It felt too late for him, but not for these young kids. âItâs been doing that for an hour. Iâve been very polite about it until now.â
âi said a whole âhi, hello, how are you, howâs the familyâ before i sat down. itâs not my fault you were too preoccupied with a bloody sign to reciprocate.â he crossed his arms in indignation, but it quickly gave way to a tired laugh. danny took another drink of coffee, waiting for the moment the caffeine would kick in.  âwhy donât you just fix it yourself? or break it. either way, problem solved.â he set down the paper, knowing he wouldnât get any reading done now that moody had noticed him. not that heâd retained anything before.  âin order: getting coffee before work. reading is a strong word, i couldnât even tell you what the headline was without looking. and i was planning to get an early start this morning.â danny neglected to mention that this was a far earlier start than he had intended, but he couldnât sleep. he hadnât been sleeping very well since the quidditch finals. it made him sick to his stomach to think about poor wilkes. heâd been feeling uneasy about that order of the phoenix for a while, but this proved it in his mind: they were no good.  âit concerns me that youâve been having a one-sided argument with that sign for a full hour.â
