and i absolutely believed her. why wouldn’t i? you don’t see lesbians happy and alive on television, in the media, you don’t see broadcasted images of our happiness celebrated the way heterosexual couples’ are, you don’t see anything good. all you see is our pain and anguish.

and that’s a huge part of why i’m so depressed about the ~dead lesbian~ trend on television lately. please, for the love of God, give us something to look forward to. stop getting off on our suffering. there are girls out there already hearing from their families that they’ll never be happy – would it kill you to prove them wrong? images of two women marrying each other & growing old together are so important. we need to show young lesbians there is happiness out there for them.

around age 17 i attempted suicide. i really didn’t think i’d make it past 25 because i was so god damn miserable & was enduring horrendous homophobic abuse from my mother. how many girls out there went through the same thing i did and didn’t make it out alive? too many.

lesbians deserve happiness, and we can find it. we will all find it. and we deserve to see that. we deserve lesbian weddings on television, lesbians raising children together, lesbians that are happy in their old age.
