In just the past two months, Sony has:

Suggested the PS6 *may* cost more than $1000 at launch

Announced the end of all physical PS game releases

While simultaneously announcing the end of two of their console game stores — ensuring multiple games will die forever

Declared that they are wholly dedicated to (A) leveraging A.I. when making games and (B) creating live-service games above all other game types

Announced that if you bought any movies through their PlayStation Store, over 550 of them will soon be deleted from all users' libraries — with no restitution offered of any kind

Gamers, it is time — to paraphrase Robert Vann — to turn Sony's picture to the wall. Any one of these insults would be bad, and taken alone? Maybe it could be swallowed. But this is an ongoing campaign of disdain towards customers, with each declaration worse than the last.

PlayStation does not deserve your patronage any longer. The PS6 must fail. Leave them behind.

JUNETEENTH is the oldest known US celebration of the end of slavery (the liberation of the last remaining enslaved people in the United States)...Here's a look at Juneteenth, also called Emancipation Day, by the numbers:

161 - Years since Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger (Union Army) first read the proclamation, General Orders, No. 3, in Galveston, Texas, notifying slaves of their emancipation, on June 19, 1865.

January 1, 1863 - Date President Abraham Lincoln issued the final Emancipation Proclamation, freeing those enslaved.

901 - Days in between the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation and General Orders, No. 3.

13th - Amendment to the US Constitution that abolished slavery.

3,953,760 - Estimated number of slaves in the United States in 1860.

30.2 - Percentage of the population of Texas comprised of slaves, or "bondsmen," in 1860.

500,000 - Estimated number of free blacks in the United States in 1860. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, about half were in the North and half were in the South.

15 - States where it was legal to have slaves before the Civil War: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

45 - States with laws or resolutions celebrating Juneteenth.

January 1, 1980 - Juneteenth became a state holiday in Texas, although it had been celebrated informally since 1865.

45,133,880 - African-Americans (one race alone or in combination) in the United States in 2016, according to the most recent Census Bureau estimate.

146 years - Age of the oldest Juneteenth celebration in the world, in Emancipation Park in Houston.

8 - Consecutive years during which Barack Obama, during his presidency, issued a statement to mark Juneteenth: 2009-2016.

40 - Congressional co-sponsors of House Resolution 268, Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee's bill to "observe the historical significance of Juneteenth Independence Day”

It is memory made visible.

Today, our family stood in Chandler as a community chose to remember Emmett Louis Till not as a moment buried in history books, but as a child whose life continues to shape the moral courage of a nation.

Seventy years ago, my cousin Emmett’s story awakened the conscience of the world because his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, refused to let the truth be hidden. She showed us what it means to turn grief into movement, memory into mission, and loss into lasting change.

We are deeply grateful to Greater Bethel AME Church for lending the wall of their church as sacred ground for this public witness, and to Shining Light for carrying this mural from vision to reality.

Public art like this becomes a form of civic testimony. It tells every young person who passes by that history is not somewhere else. It lives here. It lives with us. It asks something of us.

Thank you to the City of Chandler for choosing remembrance over erasure and truth over silence.
