Just because season two is over doesn’t mean I can’t be delusional
I just watched the new episode of fionna and cake and im not normal about fionna and simons relationship. How he calls her out of the blue and it seems to be something he does alot. How fionna basically gives him her undivided attention. How he calls her when hes uneasy ot on edge heading to choose gooses grave. Shes his support person and she adores him.
I cant help thinking of him calling her late at night and the two having long talks about everything and nothing. Sometimes simon walks outside to Marci's deck when shes jamming out and he just talks to fionna and even if he wakes her she still picks up and does her best to carry a conversation even if she falls asleep sometimes. Sometimes just knowing shes there is enough for him. And maybe vis versa.
Maybe Fionna text him when shes upset or uneased she always starts the conversation off as a joke and lead it into a distraction but simon will continue to ask her questions too and she breaks easily. Admiting to him whats wrong. He doesnt call her rather he continues to text her even if its not his favorite way of communicating. Its what shes comfortable with in these moments and he wont push her boundries.

I have such a weakness for like. mundane au petribell where Simon is either divorced or a widower and is just wallowing in his own depression and self-hatred and Fionna is an also-depressed neurodivergent 30 year old who takes an interest in his cool antique and art collection and eventually becomes friends with him and they fall in love and/or have sex and Simon can’t get out of his own head about how he’s a creepy old predator taking advantage of a young woman and grooming her, when essentially Fionna is the one who willfully inserted herself into his life and took an active role in progressing their relationship to a sexual level. and while in real life this would be a very nuanced situation, in the context of the fanfic it’s very clear that the social power dynamic is in Fionna’s favor, which isn’t to say she did something unethical because Simon was obviously consenting, but more like, it’s not a big deal dude, you’re torturing yourself over nothing.

oh my GOD you guys what if Simon and Fionna flirted aegosexually through Fionna writing fanfic about her magical dreams and sending it to him and because it’s her dreams they’re reflective of their actual interpersonal relationship and life events like THIS ONE TIME ICE PRINCE WAS SO DEPRESSED HE COULDNT ACCESS HIS POWERS BC HE GOT A RESPIRATORY CURSE AND STAYED INSIDE FOR A WEEK AND IT THREW OFF HIS SCHEDULE
what if they ROLEPLAYED LONG DISTANCE and Simon felt super cringe and ashamed at first but then got really into as like a dramatic and artistic exercise
what if Fionna decided it was time for her character to make a move but because she uses good rp etiquette first she messaged Simon like “is it okay if Magical Lapine touches Ice Prince’s leg in a romantic way?? with the intention of leading to dating stuff??? :o” and it took him like ten minutes to think about it and process it before answering affirmatively and every message he sends takes like half an hour to type bc his soul is leaving his body due to not having dated anyone in like ten years (or a thousand depending on your standards) and also just.. you know Fionna has a lot of baggage attached to her, okay, it’s not her fault that she’s an alternate version of Finn from inside his brain
