progress for real this time
there are plenty of skeletons that needs to be sprited so if any of you guys have a pencil tool, or binary tool or anything similar and knows how to use it, feel free to join us :’)
Both skeletons by Meri
Hey! Uhm well, I can't find any informations, so I think i am trying to ask you about that. Are you guys still working on DvD? I never see updates since a year and I'm kinda scared you canceled the project. Also the website is down for many month. Maybe just a quick information about the status? ;_;
I’m not part of the team anymore so I couldn’t give you an exact answer but maybe Neko can help.
*screams* NEKOO!!!!!!!!!!! IS DREAM VS DREAM STILL BEING WORKED ON??? HELP THIS ANON PLS
He’ll get back to us eventually.
YA KINDA SUPPOSEDLY YES-ISH
Shadow and Ses are still doing stages, and I think Shadow is still on GFX (unless he’s got all of those done already, that man is a MAGICIAN).
It’s all kind of going slowly in all other regards, mostly because Mathew’s said he’d redo the ENTIRE GAME ENGINE and then didn’t get around to it ever. For months. And keeps starting new projects. And is now working on a commercial release of Oneshot. Gosh darnit, captain.
I donno what the spriting team is doing, but Thewmat not-quite-yelled at me for asking about progress once a month. Finals kinda killed everyone for a while. Wait lemme check the dropbox. Once it’s done with the 980 files it wants.
Last change, 6/5/2015 11:34. A lotta folks were dead busy during the finals period, but that’ll probably settle. (Remember, we’re basically all students!)
Basically, it’s alive! But don’t hold your breath!! That’s a really bad idea and you’ll probably die!!!
On my end, I’m about done with the start of my Borderlings project and will begin doing stages and sprite skeletons again. While everyone were working on the finals, I went on my own accord with whatever I want to get done until the beginning of summer.
I’ll still push through to keep this amazing project alive. Don’t worry! Like Neko said, we’re not dead yet we’re just kind of slow because of important needs.
Keep an eye out on my art blog and the DvsD forum for anything from me. :)
Now take deep breaths and count to 420….good.
The only thing I can really add is that there’s supposed to be a relatively good update sometime soon. I’ve held up my end of the deal on it, but I’ve been waiting for Mathew to actually do the final parts of it for around 3 weeks. I guess think what you will with that information. I’ve made and remade pretty much every effect that would be required for the next update excluding the Yume 2kki based hit sparks. For the time being I’ve been on hiatus to work my current full time job and play Splatoon and the latest Sm4sh DLC. I think I’ve earned at least that much.
Hopefully I can further clear things up:
A new engine is being written at a very, very slow rate. I have a lot of stuff on my plate this summer and I’m afraid I can’t put as much time into DvD as I could a few years ago. I had planned to revise the website, social media outlets, etc. with up-to-date and relevant, transparent information, but frankly I haven’t had the time and energy to do it. The team members are doing what they can with the time they have.
The video that Shadow refers to is here, and it’s quite an impressive piece of work. (I’m gonna make a dedicated post for it anyways though)
Hey, I'm working on an automated English translation tool for Yume 2kki and I was wondering if you would mind if I used some of your translated images for it. You will be properly accredited of course.
Hi, you are more than welcome to utilize my 2kki translations in any way you please. I actually have a .txt file with most of the text from 2kki. You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/view/9hu0oi1jkelh44a/2kki_txtdump_v1.txt
If the Japanese text is showing up as mojibake/gibberish, lemme know and I’ll try my best to fix it.
Note that some lines aren’t translated. I never intended to share this file with the public; it was only supposed to be a reference for when I had to translate new versions.
Also, I’d like to ask: if there’s any time I’d like to update or change any of my translation choices, would it be easy to update the program? I’m just wondering because I’m constantly learning new things and tweaking my work to accommodate my new knowledge.
Oh, and I still need to send you some translated images I did as well. I have every text-related image (such as the GameBoy World menus) in a folder and when I’m translating I go through the new version to see if any of the image files have changed and, if not, I copy and paste the translated images into the new version. I’m a little strapped for time right now, so I won’t be able to get them to you until this afternoon, I’m afraid.
I’ll also try and work on translating some of the untranslated lines in the text dump.
Finally, if someone else sees a better way to translate something, be it you or someone else, they’re more than free to alter it to make it more accurate or fix any typos I erroneously miss. Thanks.
I actually already made a text dump of your latest translation, but thank you anyway! I've also already taken care of the images; I wrote a script to compare which images were different between your translation and the latest version, and made edits as appropriate. It sounds like I have a similar setup to you with the ability to check for new files, too. If you have added any new images since the last version though, they would be helpful.
For the actual in-game text translations, I was able to translate the effect text/PC text using your translation and Google translate (and my own limited ability) as a reference. For the remaining text (which is a lot more than I was expecting from a Yume Nikki fangame, but hey, this is 2kki), Rosette has agreed to help. (It should be noted that I didn't haphazardly using Google translate for things like books or other things that affect the mood or story of the game, but rather UI stuff.)
The translation program is designed to easily accommodate new text and image patches, so if you would like to revise anything in particular, adding it to the patch would be a breeze. I can send you the text patch files if you want to take a look or want to help, because there's a surprising amount of text hidden in this game.
Thank you for your time and help!

Dream vs. Dream News Post
Wow, it's been a while since one of these happened.
Starting today, the Dream vs. Dream engine is beginning a serious overhaul (i.e. complete rewrite). The new engine will make development easier and faster (we're still missing characters like Me and Masutaa that should have been in the last release because of the difficulty in working with the engine).
The most important change for end-users will be the requirement of OpenGL 2.0+ to run. This is in order to keep the graphics backend crisp, fast, and open to the latest graphics features. It shouldn't affect most people, however, if you had trouble with shaders last time around, you will probably not be able to run the game on your machine. If that's the case, or if you're not sure if your graphics card supports OpenGL 2.0+, you should update your graphics drivers and run this utility to see the minimum version of OpenGL your graphics card supports.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing what can be done with the engine this time around to make Dream vs. Dream a much better experience than before.

Hi, my name is Usagi-chan and i want translate the game Dream vs Dream April Fools version. I know how translate this game, but i need know if you could give me the permission to translate it. So can you give me the permission, please?
Sure, if you'd like.
Excuse me, but this is a question on your RTPRPG post you made. For RPG maker 2000 and 2003, where are the .exe launchers at? Thanks for answering if you do.
That was just for the RTP, not the editors.
WIP for the Underwater Carnival stage. Still need to get some kinks out and add in a few more things.
http://sta.sh/01myesavo4nw
OH MY GOD! And this is just a WIP! Everything about this looks just awesome.
That use of the statue to hide the grisly child murder was a fucking wonderful idea
I cannot wait until this is finished bc no joke so far it looks like it’ll be the most interesting stage in the game
what software did you animate the chain saw thingy in??
The spriters use a bunch of different software, including Photoshop, the Gimp, PaintTool SAI, etc.
If you’ve ever wondered what the animation process basically is like
I create animation skeleton hell and make a skeleton first based off of the moveset description
Submit the animation for pixel artists (I can’t pixel very well, so I’m not good enough to finish my skeletons)
Let the pixellers handle it
BOOM finished product 80
My job is literally to create skeleton hell. Exciting :O
