his eyes said more than words can say

        “Thank you, Daniel,” Farah smiled happily toward Daniel’s compliment before glancing down at her outfit. She sported a light pink silk suit with a cream crop top underneath and white heels to match. It wasn’t a sparkly dress or gown like others wore and she was more than okay with her look for the evening. “If your sweet compliments keep coming my way, there’s a high chance I’ll turn into a tomato.” The counselor teased as her light blush was evident, knowing it would get stronger if he spoke sweetly to her. Surprise took over her features when the handsome surgeon announced he was here alone and stayed once hearing his recent offer. “Yes, I’d love to be your date!” Her happiness alone made her step close to her date and take his hand into her own. “Now that you’re officially mine for the evening, what would you like to do first? Get a drink? Dance together? Learn more about each other while standing under the stars?”

        “Daniel Sloan, it has a good ring to it,” Farah stated as she felt her smile widen on her features. Ever since they met in the hospital cafeteria, she couldn’t get him out of her mind. Obviously, he was dreamy and had such a kind and sweet soul. He was someone she wanted to get to know more and had to let him know in one way or another. “I feel exactly the same way since I also haven’t been out in quite a while. To your point, you don’t look terrible at all, trust me.” The counselor said, finding it easy to compliment the surgeon. “Now look at who’s the kind one out of us,” she chuckled and hoped her light laughter covered up the blush she was feeling in her cheeks, “Thank you, and no, I came here alone. How about you? Did you come here with a date? I mean, you had to since, you know, look at you.”

Harlow was still in the process of telling everyone about her and Jay. The people who had known her for awhile knew their history. Harlow didn’t really go into their past, it hurt to much now to bring it back up. “ Well thank you.  “ Honestly, she couldn’t see herself as one of those girls who wanted the huge fairytale wedding. She was a lot more of a private person though she definitely did not remember much of the night after a couple shots. “ I know, I know. You’re the best. You know that right? “

He nodded his head, “Of course.” He smiled and then pretended to flip his hair. “Of course I know.” He cleared his throat, since she was sharing he would too. “I actually have some news to tell you.” He said nervously, and then gestured for her to follow him to the guest bedroom and opened the door, it was set up for a little girl. “I am in the process of adopting a little girl that came into the hospital.”

  “Well, I know how insane the hours are for doctors,” he spoke chuckling and smiling. Jamie could picture back in a different life. How it was and how the hours were a bit insane. Which was nothing like what he did now but it was close. Med-school and his residency did help him deal with stress and lack of sleep.  

“You look like you could use something strong to drink tonight,” he added as he waited for his drink. “His tab is on me tonight,” he spoke to the bartender. 

“I barely work insane hours now, when you get to being the head of something you get to leave at only.” he checked his watch, “8:30.” He chuckled and shrugged, “I have a team of doctors under me who only come annoy me when they can’t do something.”

He smiled and nodded his head, “Yeah today was not a good day.  And in that case sir, I’d like a double of your more expensive whiskey.” Daniel wasn’t worried in terms of money but thought it was funny to tease. “I’m just joking, i’ll take another one of these.”

“ Awe come on. You know you have that smile that only a mother could love. “ Harlow said jokingly as she took a large mouthful of food before leaning back into the couch. With Daniel, she was comfortable not being a girly girl. One who always sat nicely and ate so dantley. He was more like a brother to her than anything and she was beyond happy to have her in his life. That’s why she wasn’t really surprised at his reaction. “ Did I mention we both were drinking a lot? “ She laughed a little. As stupid as it was they they had gotten married she was actually happy they had done it.

“Which is why my mother calls me so frequently, i’m sure.” He teased playfully before nodding his head. Daniel was looking for a reaction, on her face to indicate how she was feeling about this whole situation. “Well either way, i’m feeling like the consensus is happiness so congrats.” He raised his glass as to toast, “Well you’re always welcome here, and I’ll have to him over sometime to really get to know him better.”

Harlow couldn’t help but laugh. She had watched enough Grey’s Anatomy with Kacie to know that was the truth. “ You’re so smart, and handsome you know that right? “ Harlow teased like she would with her older brother. She was in constant awe with Daniels job. His job was impressive. The skill you had to have to perform such surgeries. To deal with the constant ups and downs, she admired him more than he probably knew.  “ No, no. Nothing like that. “ Harlow let out a gasp, but she knew she would be able to count on him if that ever was the case. She put up her hand showing daniel the engagement ring and band that now sat pretty on her skinny fingers.  “ Okay so I was a little drunk and Jay and I got married. “ She spoke quickly.

He laughed and nodded his head, “Smart, not so sure about handsome.” In truth he knew he was attractive, his coworkers as well as others made sure to remind him. He didn’t really care about it though, he was focussed on helping these children as best he could. “Well you know I always got you if it comes to that.” He took another sip of his wine before choking a bit. “W-wait what?”

It was a truth universally acknowledged that one didn’t not go to see a movie during opening week unless they wanted to get groped or have blisters by the end of the night after all the wait in line ─oh, no, wait, apparently it wasn’t. A week later and the cinema area wa still packed when she had arrived. Anyhow, as she left the auditorium, Eden felt confident she had made the right call waiting for a week to avoid the craziness and staying as far away from spoilers as possible. Throwing away her empty water bottle, she turned around fast on her heel bumping into someone. “It’s fine, I’m sorry too.” She chuckled easily, fixing her coat in place. “Uhh..” Eden offered a short laugh. “Questions, theories, urgency for the next episode of the other MCU releases on Disney+, you name it and it’s probably true…”

He laughed and then looked around surprised to see a beautiful woman like herself at a marvel movie alone, he thought he was the only one who saw movies by himself. Truth be told if Diana was still here she’d be here next to him probably spouting out her theories, but that was always his sister was. “I gotta hand it to them, being an a lover of the comics they’ve done a great job of appeasing me.” He stuck his hands into his jacket pockets. “this one make your top five? if you had to choose.”

It had been a whirlwind of a month and sometimes she really had a hard time reaching out to people. Between work and Jay she hadn’t really reached out to many people. They were still trying to figure out where they stood. She had to admit that they were in a much better place than months prior. “ Oh really? Was she cute? “ Harlow took a long swig of the beer she had in hand turning towards Daniel.  “ I mean hey, at least it’s better than nothing  happening. “ She added with a laugh trying to figure out how to tell Daniel about what happened with herself and Jay. Though the moment he saw her hand he  would be able to figure it out. “ So I have some new. No big deal or anything. “

He shrugged, “she wasn’t bad but I don’t date the people I work with bad things happen when doctors start putting their dick where it shouldn’t go.” He sipped his wine, and then shook his head. “i had to perform a heart transplant, because my other surgeon was out on a personal day. My job is too hectic for a relationship.” He turned to her as she spoke, leaning back a bit and nodding, “alright let here it. we have to dispose of a body?” he joked playfully.

“I think I’ve messed up my Disney+ algorithm because most of my suggestions are Marvel-related,” she admitted with a shake of her head. “Not taking up too much of my time at all, but I’ll never say no to coffee.” 

“If i tell you my Disney+ algorithm gives me you may think i’m less cool or a Disney obsessed kid grabbed a hold of it.” He smiled and nodded his head, “wonderful, theres a gazillion coffee shops in this mall so i’m sure we could find a nice one. Oh, i’m Daniel, don’t want you to think i’m a weirdo, or trying to kidnap you.” He chuckled softly, somewhat awkwardly.
