I Draw What I Want!

ctrl + click the hair layer to select it

increment by 1 or 2 depending how thick you like your lines

make a new layer under your hair layer

fill with desired color

I hope this clears up some issues with the previous tutorial.

After 6 years of using this program I finally figured this out, so I decided to share the technique. IDK, it sure beats the “Use brush with no pen pressure to make a dot” type of thing.

The use of the vector layer comes with other nifty things like:

No decrease in quality while transforming

No 500px size limit

Playing with line thickness and distortion

I got asked how I go about making men’s torsos, so I made a really quick (is it even a) tutorial to show how I do things.

I honestly don’t use references that much, granted, I do from time to time, but in my typical drawing I don’t. So I took two pictures and showed you the easiest technique I learned from in high school which is to draw a triangle.

I don’t use this technique and you’ll hardly ever see me using it honestly, because in my own skeletons (when I do use skeletons, I use circles.) Which I made a little sample of above beside the two used reference pictures to show the difference.

I know the pictures are like Step one: draw triangle Step two: draw the rest of the fucking torso. So sorry about that! I just wanted to show how quickly it can be done.

Mostly, I guess just keep the arms in a small pattern, starting from the shoulder (which should be defined) go thick, thin, thick, thin, thick, thin. And the wrist is the last ‘thin’ part until you make the hands. The elbow is another thin part, and then between the upper arm and shoulder is the third thin part.

Anyway, while reading the tags and comments on said tutorial, I noticed a lot of people expressing a desire for a bat wing version. So here’s a little guide I whipped up on them!

Bat wings are simpler than bird wings in that there’s no feather structure to learn, but you do need to learn the bones. Once you get the hang of those though, they’re pretty easy!

Let me show ya something quick:

Basically the trick is blending/how to blend colors. ALSO, dont use the blurr tool, blend within shades(it’s a bit difficult at first but you’ll get it)
