he didnât want to be here.
his heart was pounding in his chest and echoing in his ears, his lungs felt inescapably tight, his head was spinning and oh god
draco brought his hand up to his mouth and began biting on his nails
it didnât help him escape the impending feeling that everything was about to go wrong but it did help relieve some of his anxiety
it felt easier to breath, his head felt clearer and it didnât feel like the world was closing in on him anymore.
âdraco! get those fingers out of your mouth! the next time i see those hands anywhere near your mouth, youâll wish you were born without them!â
the memory came hurtling in like a freight train and draco immediately snatched his hands away from his mouth and instead curling them around the bottom of his blazer in a vice grip
he was about to go into court
he was about to try and convince hundreds, no thousands, no, the world, that he was a good person
draco could feel the anxiety claw itâs way up his throat, surrounding his head in a thick fog
he let out a small whimper as his hands began to cramp up at the sheer force that they were gripping onto the blazer
draco tried to focus on his breathing but how could he when everything was going wrong?
he itched to have the comforting feeling of biting his nails but he couldnât

draco nearly jumped out of his skin at the voice, his nerves on fire
âyeah.â draco managed to force out, breath coming shorter and faster.
âi donât think you deserve to be here.â harry said, turning to look at draco
draco felt a lump rise up in his throat as he shook his head, disagreeing with harry.
god, it was just getting worse and worse
it felt like someone had an iron grip on his lungs and heart and was squeezing them like they wanted to crush them
âyou donât.â harry said, tugging on dracoâs hands and taking them in his own.
draco watched in half panic and half confusion as harry continued talking, rubbing soothing circles with his thumb onto dracoâs hands
âitâs bullshit calling you up here. youâre a kid, anyone can see that you didnât want to do it. i can see that you didnât want to do it.â
draco focused on harryâs calm voice and soothing touch and felt his panic and anxiety begin to ease.
âiâll get you out of there if itâs the last thing i do.â harry murmured, never stopping rubbing circles onto dracoâs hands
harry sounded so honest and draco finally felt like he could breathe again
draco lay his forehead against harryâs shoulder and tried to stop shaking
âthank you.â draco whispered
harry released his hold on one of dracoâs hands and instead ran it through dracoâs hair instead. âitâs okay. iâve got you.â
