BEST DAY EVER!! When I say that this show was six months worth the wait, I mean it with the utmost sincerity. This show was just the beautiful, colorful, heartfelt pick-me-up I needed. The immersive nature of the house swept me off my feet; from the music to @alexgibby running around in the audience, I was so delighted. And my god, this CAST; I could write novels about how every individual performance absolutely blew my mind. Please, if you can get there before it closes, go see @spongebobbway. BUT THIS SHOW IS SO GOOOOOD!! 😭 It’s the perfect balance of heartwarming, funny, a little bittersweet, and charming above all. Every member of this cast is absolutely electric, and giving it their all out there. Almost five years ago now, my best friend had gone to see a musical I had been quietly contemplating in its last week of running. Unfortunately, I missed out on seeing it before it closed, but once I treated myself to its cast album, I knew for sure it was something special. Big Fish is one of those precious shows that changed everything about the way I look at theatre. It got me hooked on the work of the luminous Kate Baldwin, it served as an avenue for exploring other shows that closed far beyond when they should have, AND it became the show I most wanted to see get released for community theatre. I cannot even begin to fully describe how much joy it brings me that @btco’s production gets to be my first live experience of this special show. The Wedding Singer was SOOO much fun!! I’ve been exposed to such amazing shows that I haven’t explored before this summer, and this one was clearly no exception. From that absolute showstopper of an opening number, my sister and I knew we were in for an awesome time – and how glad we were to find ourselves proved right by the end of the night!! There’s never a dull moment in this piece, and even when things are slow, the energy of the actors is able to keep it steady and entertaining. I implore you to go give @surflighttheatre’s The Wedding Singer your time. It’s running through August 5th, and it is most certainly a party you don’t want to miss. @desperatemeasuresmusical WAS SO MUCH FUN!! It had all of the right elements to win my heart: goofy charm, Western setting, cool strong female lead, and a touch of the Bard’s genius. I LOOOVE how the dialogue was done (I suppose you could add “rhyme” to that list before), and now I’m very curious to see what of the original Measure for Measure script made it into this adorable show. Although the rain made a trip to the stage door impossible, that definitely did not stop me from doodling!! @lomo212 was frenetic, and ridiculous, and just INCREDIBLE above all as Bella!! Everyone in this cast was electric; the energy was palpable, as was the definite closeness of the cast. (I MUST give special shout outs to @chakaconor and @sarahparnicky as well – I’ve been dying to see Conor since Jon and Jen in 2015, and I’m just blown away by Sarah’s brilliance. ) If you’re looking for an absolute romp of a show, Desperate Measures is definitely for you. Man of La Mancha was really interesting!! For a show I knew absolutely nothing about, I came out really enjoying it. The on-stage transformation from Miguel to Quixote was just AWESOME, as was the unfolding of the plot. And Aldonza may be one of my new favorite characters? I just love her attitude, gosh. The performances were fantastic all around; spirit was in full swing from start to finish. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend your night, be sure to catch OCC’s Man of La Mancha, running tomorrow and next week!! Hey Doodlers!! HERE’S something I’ve been consistently forgetting to share! . So, during my bout of silence while at school, I fell head over heels in love with @critical_role. I had absolutely no knowledge of how Dungeons & Dragons worked before I started watching (my only exposure, in fact, was the Fantasy Improv show my school had done). But I started watching very early on in the current campaign, and I was hooked immediately. The intrigue of the story, the colorful personalities of the characters – I have a huge love and respect for voice acting, so I already was in love with the concept OF actors playing D&D, but I was sold on it so quickly. . Out of the members of the Mighty Nein, Jester has without a doubt stolen my heart. @laurabaileyvo’s talent and charm just knocked me off my feet the first time I watched the character introductions, and watching this tiefling come into her own over the course of the campaign has already been such a joy. So when Laura mentioned at C3E3 that one of her favorite songs to practice the Jester voice with was “Popular,” I couldn’t resist glamming her up in the Glinda outfit. . I’m teeming with a ridiculous amount of M9/theatrical crossovers, so rest assured this probably won’t be the last one you’ll see out of me. Jesus Christ Superstar was really interesting!! I had missed out completely on the NBC Live production because I was at school, so unlike my sisters, this was my first exposure to this story altogether. But I was blown away by the amount of emotion and raw passion that went into this production. Everyone’s spirit is here in full, and it shines so beautifully through this emotionally charged story. What a marvel of a production!! South’s staged reading of Star Wars: A New Hope was SO cute!! It’s no surprise to anyone that knows me that Reader’s Theatre was always my favorite part of Forensics each year. To see it ramped up to such a high level of quality on top of being produced in such a quick turnaround – THAT is a shining example of the magic of theatre for me. Hey Doodlers!! My, It.’s been a while!! It is no exaggeration when I say that the life of an animator is a busy one. The class I took this past quarter has kept me on my toes in ways that I would have never expected – but I emerged successful and more knowledgeable than I could have expected, and am now reaping the benefits of a glorious summer vacation. But that’s not what I’m here to talk about. As of this morning – and thanks to my incredible fabulous sisters (my gratitude for them knows absolutely no bounds) – I will be attending the 72nd Tony Awards tomorrow night!! This is a season I have only had half an eye on, partially due to being out of state and partially due to it being a breather season. But I’m absolutely ecstatic for what this opportunity means for us, and I’m delighted beyond words to have this once in a lifetime opportunity. 😌 #DramaDoodles #DoodlesDoesTheTonys
