people do this?? ok before i say anything i wanna say that i am a huge defender of fiction is fiction, people can be whoever they want, write whatever they want, fiction is fiction. But. ok. no but im not compromising that belief. fiction is fiction. and opinion is opinion and here is mine. so.
remote's ENTIRE character is based off not wanting to be just a robot, wantinh to be seen as a person too; see her bfdi character guide entry, it says, and i quote, "She has a robotic voice, although she definitely does have feelings. One of these feelings is the desire to be seen as a person and not a tool." now this is not explored all that much in bfb snd tpot(and i think that the reason for this is that bfb and tpot. do not give remote enough screentime. boo/j). however, a notable episode for remofe is BFB 7: The Liar Ball You Don't Want. in this, remote is controlled by ABNTT using robot flower, and in this we can see that she is in distress because of this:
[not as relevant, but i feel like this is a HUGELY glossed over part of bfdi. like ok i get that bfdi as a whole is a wacky show and definitely s lot of worse things have happened rhat are just glossed over. and maybe rhis is jist my incredible bias for remote talking but like shiiiiit man this scene was really fresking messed up. like. she was so. she was so scared. you cant]
not only that, but directly after, remote defies orders. not just verbal orders(the pact), but also literal programming orders from how shes being controlled by robot flower[REMOTES SO GOATED ahem ahem]:
and it's not like remote doesn't know that shes doing this; it is a panic response, for sure, she is terrified that shes being controlled and moved against her will, but "Not today, whoever you are!" shows that she is actually in control of her actions here, where she is sending the bomb. she is making a conscious decision for her own sake(to not be controlled) as compared to others' sake(the PACT and what death pact expects and wishes of her and also her literal body being freaking hijacked)[and to this i say YOU GO GIRL!!! i am so proud of you]
these aren't the only times remote shows autonomy or breaks from team will either--in bfb 11, she questions black hole about why pie is moving so slowly, directly challenging the pact in favour of challenges[cough cough tpot foreshadowing cough cough], while in bfb 13, she continues arm fluttering despite the rest of her team stopping, and in tpot 2, she cuts tree off halfway in the middle of his speech.
finally, remote has been shown SO MANY times to not just be a follower, she is a CAPABLE LEADER AS WELL[and i dont know why the fandom doesnt recognise this. she has proven herself], being INDISPUTABLY the DPA leader in tpot 1, the one who took charge, she came up with their entire strat, and sure they lost, but that was basically jusf bad luck. she SACRIFICED herself for their win. not only that, but she also came up with DPA's strat in tpot 3 of building a safety net/trampoline, and gave her team the instructions, which scored them a 10/10 from two. finally, in tpot 4, remote was the one to take initiative, sure she killed their funny plant, but she was the onr to di it, not marker, not fanny, not tree, Her.
alright but the thing is despite all this, remote still has a core desire or goal of helping others, so to say that defining her in a servitude role is completely against her character is, in my opinion, false. remote is a kind and caring contestant, it's why she joined death pact, she has been shown inquiring about the wellbeing of her friends and tryinh to help them in many occasions. early BFB was remote's most 'dehumanising' stage, with her main purposes being to report the number of deaths the team had prevented when asked. even so, at this stage she still showed concern for liy in bfb 4 when she was surrounded by forks[my liymote shipper ass im sorry]
not only that, but remote shows a lot of care for even people she's never met or talked a lot with, as seen in tpot 22 with naily, cloudy and eraser:
she is also shown to still believe in the pact, despite her growing competitive nature in tpot and the fact that the pact GOT HER OUT[im never getting over this im sorry].
you could also argue that her leadership moments in tpot were in order to complete the task given of Win Challenges. not to say that she has no individualism whatsoever, actually, what i'm saying right now is a point that i do not agree with, but you could say that in tpot 4, she was working based on instructjons given to her bu black hole. in tpot 1, she literally carried her team up the stairs.
[ok no but seriously why the frick did she get out. someone please tell me. she freaking carried dpa in early tpot she came up with the strat for 2/4 of the challenges she did and both were incredibly effective, it was the fault of bad luck and tree's failure and incompetence to shout through a megaphone THAT REMOTE GAVE HIM that they lost the first challenge, she was dead half the challenge in tpot 2 but when she came back she was immediately the BEST EVER FUN SILLY REMOTE!!!! OMF THATS SO MANY BATTERIES!!!! then she came up with the 10/10 STRAT IN TPOT 3. AND IN TPOTN4 SHE was the one to kill the funny plant BASED OFF BLACK HOLE'S ORDERS!!! TRIED EVERYTHING SHE COULD BEFORE KILLING THE FUNNY PLANT!!!! WAS GENERALLY SO AMAZING AND ENGAGING THSY ENTIRE COMP!!!!!!! WHY IS MY GIRL GONEVOTE TO SAVE SCREWED HER OVER SO BAD I AM SOBBING I MISS HER SO MUCH]
ahem. in conclusion i really dont wanna judge fandompeople. i am anticensorship, proship, and hold the belief that write whatever you want, draw whatever you want, it is all fiction, coming from me, a person who takes fiction Very Seriously and has frequently had physical responses to things happening to fictional characters, notably remote. so i dont wanna make this post to attack anyone, not OP, not whoever OP is talking about(because shiiit man some of that maid dress fanart is ho-) jkjk. but im serious i dont want to attack anyone, i dont want to hurt anyone, i think that this place should be one of collaborative discussion, because i am notoriously characterblind, so PLEASE talk to me about this post!! do you agree? do you disagree? i am typing this on mobile at 12.34am lying in a bed with my only sources the bfdi fandom wiki and my memory, so it's probably not the most accurate, but remote bfdi has just been Taking Over my mind for the past week or so, and all i want to do by hopping into this is offer my point of view, and i hope the remotefan community and the bfdi community thinks its ok!! i really dont think we should start fights based off what someone does or doesnt do. because? thats not what remote wouldve wanted.
