A 3 day break, you feel well rested. A 5+ day break, you forget how to be a productive member of society.

There’s this girl at my school and she’s really nice and I remember sometime last year at one point she would carry a clicker around and click it everytime she had a happy thought/something good happened/she laughed etc. It was always kind of cute how you’d just hear the little click every once in a while throughout class it always made me smile knowing that it was bc something made her feel happy idk

she was training herself to be happy oh my god

does it work???? Imagine feeling yourself slipping into depression and you just click a few times and your brain says “wait, this is the sound of happiness I have to release serotonin”

WE WENT BOWLING AFTER DINNER FOR MY BIRTHDAY AND THERE WERE LIKE FORTY FURRIES THERE DOING, LIKE, SOMETHING OR ANOTHER I DON’T EVEN KNOW BUT THEY WERE BOWLING IN THEIR FURSUITS AND DOING VERY WELL ACTUALLY?????

This story keeps getting better and better

Like okay. I’ve got something to say about these people.  These people are /fucking rad/.  Furries get a harsh rep. Furries get stomped a lot in social media, in TV, as a subculture pushed to the very fringes. Because people don’t understand, don’t want to understand them. They are Other and therefore not to be trusted.  Fuck that noise. When I was in one of the shittiest parts of my life, the local Furry community that my (now ex, she was one of the crazy ones) girlfriend was a part of PULLED OUT THE STOPS to make me feel welcome, gave me shelter and food when I needed it, and saved my fucking life. I found myself more than once being greeted with cheers and laughter and inclusion, even though I myself am not a furry.  Stories like this though? I love. Because here is someone who clearly isn’t a Furry, but still gets to see and /display/ that utterly welcoming side of them. Every furry I have ever met has been inclusive, kind, and if not decent, then at least not evil for evils sake.  Damn, now I wish I had a furbowl in my area to show up to and talk to people with.  I’ve had some really bad conversations at work with some people, one of them a lady who came in tipsy and trapped me behind the register talking about her last hotel, apparently near a furcon. I wanted so badly to explain it, but I was at work., Ugh. I couldn’t say that those people are amazing and rad and creative, and so what. Humanity is overrated sometimes.  Do not fear the Other, when the Other so clearly wants you to be a part of it in a way that is safe, sane, and comfortable. 

I work a lot of furry cons and let me tell you, as a whole you will never find a nicer, friendlier, more accepting and helpful bunch of people.  Every fandom has nutters, but there are fewer of ‘em here than almost any other fandom I’ve run into.  They started me on my art career and have been nothing but supportive and kind.

They say with pessimism you’ll either be correct or pleasantly surprised, but that’s an awfully optimistic way to see pessimism.

when you see something that reminds you of a partner/loved one and you send them a link to it that’s a form of gift-giving (preserving the meaning and thoughtfulness behind “i saw this and i thought you would like it”) without costing money, and i think that’s a cool thing to talk about re: love in the digital age that’s not “millennials look at their phones too much and it’s destroying relationships” 

absolutely. some of the best texts i get are the ones that are “i saw this and it reminded me of you.” i think that’s huge.

It’s the equivalent of a “thinking of you” card, but sans postage and usually involving way more butts.
