Humans are weird: The Game
For those of you who know what I'm talking about sorry for making you lose, but I think this would be a hilarious humans are weird thing so can someone please write it?
Humans are Weird: Temporal Perception
I'm sure many of you have heard the expression "time flies when you're having fun", but what if that applies only, or mostly, to humans.
What if the perception of time only changes, based on the enjoyment of an activity, for humans, not aliens? You know how like if you are at a concert or watching a movie or spending time with people like friends and family that you like spend time with it can seem to go by very quickly but if you're doing things like taking a test or doing paperwork or something else really boring it seems to be that time goes by very slowly. But maybe it's not the same for aliens and maybe the first time an alien hears that expression they're very confused and/or concerned for the health of the human. Because if they are experiencing changes of temporal perception then that might mean that they have a head injury or something.
If you'd like to use it for a post please send me the results.
Httyd Headcanon
So for those of you who follow me, you're probably wondering why my user name is what it is if I don't have any posts about the How to Train Your Dragon universe or any fanfics of it or anything. So here it is, my first httyd AU headcanon.
As some of you may not have heard the httyd universe has vikings and dragons and lots of other good stuff that I happen to really like. There is both a series of books and a movie franchise based, in my opinion, loosely on said books. But for this post I will be focusing on the movie version.
My headcanon is that one of Barches heads identifies as female. And for those of you who are about to say that dragons can't be queer... Yes, yes they can. In fact Dragons, as much as any being or creature that is personified in fictional writing, can be gay or trans or straight or bisexual or asexual or anything else a human can because personification gives nonhuman entities human qualities. Also if I'm being honest I'm actually quite surprised that I haven't come across any fanfics with this general theme yet, but I digress.
In my httyd AU that I've thought up the 'reader', a female, would be from this world and somehow end up in the httyd universe only instead of understanding the vikings the reader would understand the dragons.
"But wait", you say, "I've read fanfics with this idea. They do exist."
Eh, not really what I mean. I've seen the ones that you're referring to. The stories where the reader can understand the facial expressions or the body language or types of roars better than the other characters and that lets them get a rough idea of what the dragon wants to say. I don't mean those.
In my headcanon the reader actually speaks the language that the dragons do, like if the reader spoke English and wound up in the httyd universe and found a dragon then they would discover that the dragon spoke English too (though the dragons might call it something different) while if the reader met a Viking in the same world they would be faced with a linguistic barrier. Which would probably be mostly the Viking trying to figure out why the reader is roaring and/or growling at them like a dragon until they realize that the reader can't understand what they're saying.
Barch (Barf and Belch) is a Zippleback which means that one dragon body has two heads. As such Barchs body would be male, but the heads could be different. One of them (writers choice) would be male like the body would suggest, and the other would identify as female.
I like this idea for two reasons:
1. Trans people. That's all I'm gonna say on that subject.
2. Instead of both heads being male which would contrast Ruffs and Tuffs female/male one head would be female which would create a parallel between Barf/Belch and Tuffnut/Ruffnut that hasn't been seen before.
And that's all. If someone would like to write about this then please do and tell me where I can read it. I would love to write it myself but my writing skills aren't all that great tbh.
Well I've got my Nadder and I've got my shield and I smile as I fly across the battlefield I'm a dragon rider through! and through!

Humans are weird: Fake words
Confoozled a mix of confused and bamboozled . A word I use when I happen to talk to small animals who are making an adorably cute confused facial expression. Imagine an alien hearing that word and not being able to understand it because their translator doesn't recognize that it is a word in the English language. But when they ask another different human about it they know exactly what confoozled means even though it's not a 'real' word. Another example that I can think of is hangry (hungry and angry). I personally think that if an alien encountered what I call 'fake' words* they would definitely update the human handbook/guidebook. (*And I know that people use these words but I called them fake because they aren't recognized by English speakers as a whole)
Humans are weird: Bath bombs
I don't know if this has been done in the whole humans are weird type posts but imagine how an alien would react to bath "bombs". Like they accidentally find out about bath bombs by overhearing a conversation about two humans discussing what to get one of their other human crew mates for their birthday or a holiday or something. And this alien is silently eavesdropping on the conversation until someone suggests bath bombs and the alien completely FREAKS OUT like it heard of the different types of weapons and destructive stuff humans have made and thinks that they mean to hurt their human crew mate and just the general hilarity that would ensue as the alien comes to understand what a bath bomb is and that it won't kill the human like so many of their other bombs would.
If something like this already exists I would love for someone to send me a link to the post where I can read this.
If it doesn't exists and someone wants to write it then please send me the results.
Humans are weird: Static Electricity
I've been looking at these humans are weird/humans are space orcs/Earth is space Australia posts and I've yet to see anything related to static electricity. Like how would aliens react to the idea that humans can just accidentally "shock" each other and how would humans explain that. Or what would it look like when an alien gets "shocked" for the first time, and the human that shocked them was not effected or not as effected as the alien was. What if aliens can't accumulate static like humans can but they can still be shocked by statically charged humans.
Please feel free to take this idea and run with it, I would love to see the results.
