You know, Toothless actually HAD the chance of having his way of killing (or at least knocking off) Grimmel and avenging his species if he didn’t do a fucking war-cry roar after uncloaking while Grimmel was distracted in the actual scene:
Like you’re an intelligent dragon known for stealth by nature who just learned how to turn INVISIBLE for some plot armour reason. Why THE HELL would you do that at the most critical moment? Ik for a fact that this was Hiccup’s out of pocket, last resort idea to jump off and glide over, but still there was a GREAT opportunity to swoop in at Grimmel and throw him off or at least fire a plasma blast cause here he wasn’t expecting it and he wouldn’t be fast enough to successfully use the beluga as a meat shield. I find this ironic too cause there’s a whole small thing in the movie about the dragon riders trying to be stealthy on rescue missions and ironically the protagonist leader and his dragon who are actually good at that go against that. You could argue that Toothless was in the moment angry with everything, but he IS AWARE that he can’t do fuck all to Grimmel unless they get him off guard.
And on top of that (as this has been pointed out before), as THE GUY who allegedly “hunted every night fury to extinction almost”, he looks very shocked to see his Deathgrippers suddenly electrified and falling lifelessly from out the sky with the no-longer seized night fury not anywhere to be seen. Like of all the years, was that bro’s first time seeing that??? He should’ve expected that?
