It's kinda funny bc there's an instance in the gale where a man is sexually inappropriate (toward a woman tho). It's the Sardine's bartender. You can punch him for what he says about Blonde Blazer, and Shroud will always kill him for it.

What the bartender says is not so different that what Invisigal constantly says to Robert to his face - even if you choose to not like it, even when you don't have the choice to not like it bc Robert does it without your imput - but she's never called out or punished. Even after kissing him without his consent when he rejects her.

On Robert's first day, Invisigal, when caught for spying on him getting dress, never apologizes and immediately starts making uncomfortable sex jokes about his and Blazer's sex life (that's not my interpretation, neither Robert nor BB are happy about the jokes) and insulting him over the stupidest thing may I add.

She then publicly reveales that she saw his naked body when everyone is mocking him for his name and when prompted by Prism, takes the opportunity to double down on mocking his body.

She makes his job harder (on his first day) by attributing herself a mission for selfish goals (getting unbanned from Grannies) and doesn't even take the job seriously by being more interested in making sex jokes that Robert - clearly and with no ambiguity, that's not just my interpretation - is uncomfortable/fed-up with (if you tell me Robert was ok with them, you're either a liar and/or you have extremely worrying views on people attitude when sex is involved). She calls him an idiot for whispering in her ear when he's giving her instructions instead of doing what he says. She refuses to listen to his orders regarding Granny and the thief for no other reason that she's tired of listening to him when his decisions never failed to be proved good, going to the point of removing her earpiece. Its resulted in the client hurt and the thief escaping. She makes jokes about it.

When she came back, she makes Robert jumps (I think she made it on purpose, especially to make him destroy his second twinkies, no way she didn't see Sonar do it but it's more my interpretation I think) and mocks him for it - she's not sorry about it, just get defensive that she didn't reveal his identity. She's super agressive to him and agrees with Sonar in front of Robert that he's "weird". She refuses to aknowledge that she messed up big time and to listen and understand Robert. She instead insults him, that he's not a real hero (he is, she knows it), that he never put himself in danger (he does, she knows this deeply well, from his scars and what she did to him), bc he has smashed twinkies (???) (one of them is her fault, that she meant it or not, she knows it) and mocks his ptsd (again).

Then, she again scares him, and mocks him for having guilt over the conversation. And she fucking P.U.N.C.H.E.S him, hard enough he ends up in the floor with a bloodied noose, when she knows he was in a coma not long ago (bc of her).

Not only that, but she also smashed a donut (one Robert never asked for and is probably stolen from the hurt client) to piss off Robert more.

She. Never. Apologized. For. Any. Of. That.

Even when she was doing her pity party before ep 3 last mission, even when she thanked Robert for helping her, she never apologized or recognized her wrongs.

anytime they fight courtney apologizes by leaving notes saying shes sorry in the most ridiculous location she can get to (there have been places that are more technically impressive, sure, but her favourite is still the ceiling of the shower because it made mandy laugh the hardest). smth in me says mandy makes the best pancakes so she apologizes by making them for breakfast/dinner and they eat while they talk it through

courtney is so cold all of the time and mandy is so warm, esp as blazer. this does lead to cute scenarios but it also leads to courtney's truest most unforgivable act of evil (shoving her freezing hands under her girlfriend's shirt)

there is a period where they're trying to keep the relationship discreet. it lasts abt a week bc courtney gets too comfortable and kisses mandy on the cheek/temple in the parking lot before leaving for her shift and mandy forgets to wipe the lip gloss mark off

mandy is a workaholic and often gets wrapped up and forgets to do other things like "eating" and "sleeping" (it was a lot easier when she could just skip meals and not sleep for days and feel fine, but that's just not an option without the amulet), so if courtney catches her she'll slowly start hiding mandy's things and finishing tasks for her. oh noooo where's your pen. i guess paperwork'll have to wait until you find it. until then look i got you a muffin

Visi’s labeled as a “Loner” in her file, and she very much makes it known that she’s used to being and working on her own.

I feel like it’s safe to assume she only moved in with her roommate after leaving Shroud and the Red Ring, right? If she’s not lying about leaving the Red Ring by choice (which I don’t believe she is, and I believe Shroud lied about planting her at SDN because he’s lied several times about the way he killed Robert’s dad, but I digress), this makes her decision on who to live with all the more crucial.

After escaping a whole villain system and trying to turn her life around, this was the person she ran to to start a new life with. I feel like they’d have to be pretty important for her to trust sharing a domicile with, right?

What’s her relationship to her roommate? Did they know each other before she moved in with them? Do they only talk when they have to? Was it a random match sort of arrangement where they never knew each other and only live together to split rent? Could she have even casually bluffed about having a roommate and actually be living alone? Why would she feel the need to lie about having a roommate if that were the case?

Something I've seen quite a few times is that Invisigal's "I have villain powers" excuse doesn't count when there's people like Malevola and Coupe who have more villainous powers. But this is just an excuse and the game doesn't let Visi get away with it.

When Invisigal says this, it's at the end of her shift in Chapter 3. Someone is getting cut, that someone being whomever is at the bottom of the leaderboards, and by the end of the shift, it's Invisigal.

Now, Invisigal is someone who hides behind a wall of snark and sarcasm to hide her true feelings. She doesn't seem to have a support system outside of Blonde Blazer and Golem, and even then she seems to keep them at arms length. She's mentioned to have joined the Phoenix Program willingly and actually sticks with it by the time Robert joins SDN.

Visi does care about doing a good job. But she keeps coming up short. So rather than admit that she cares about something that's slipping through her fingers, she just throws her hands up and says "it's fate! I have villain powers, it's meant to be."

Certain Invisigal critics are quick to point to Malevola, a literal demon, who's doing better than Visi, and use that as an example as to why Visi's no good. To that I say "well good for Malevola, but Visi is the one needing help right now."

To me, there's something shitty about this line of thinking, that Invisigal isn't trying or working to get better because she's not doing as well as someone else in that moment. Whether or not Invisigal's powers make her a villain isn't what's important. What's important is that Inivisigal thinks her powers are what make her a villain. Visi was at a low point and she needed some support and guidance. The same thing happens to Waterboy or Phenomaman in the next chapter.

And honestly, I don't think I care if someone dislikes a character I like. My problem comes from people shitting on a character for reasons that may pertain to people in real life. It's shitty to think someone is a lost cause because the speed of their progress doesn't line up with someone else's. It's shitty to deny someone help because someone else got by without it.

But I'm biased towards Visi, because I relate to her journey. I struggled with depression and anxiety that affected my grades and social life and just caused me to shut down. I'm still feeling it today, and there were times where I thought all the effort to combat it was a waste. All the therapy appointments, all the medication, all the money poured into it. There were times were I resigned myself to misery, thinking it's all there was for me.

What certainly didn't help was comparing myself to other people, people who had more reason to be miserable but still powered through it. Now I know that improvement looks different for everyone, and even though my progress is slow, it's still progress.

The game actually does let Invisigal get away with the villain power excuse. The biggest proof is Robert and Chase discussion in ep 6 after the party. Robert makes a big deal of her having villain power, like it opened his mind, that it's so sad for her. And it works on Chase ("I guess I hadn't consider some things"). Chase who just get punched by Invisigal. Who knows there's other villains in the team who has villain powers and who don't act like her. He SHOULD have argued that it was a bullshit argument.

No other villain is ever mention of having villain powers, even once. Not even in a "others have it worse than me, I shouldn't complain" from Invisigal when it would have been a lot more interesting. She just compares herself to Blonde Blazer and Phenomaman.

If the game really didn't let her get away with this excuse, it would have the others (who are all listening to her discussion with Robert) intervene to tell her off. They're assholes, why they didn't do it? Bc you're supposed to take it seriously.

It doesn't excuse why there's a double standard when she does something stupid compared to others. It doesn't excuse why she can punch people (more vulnerable than her may I add, with Robert coming from a recent coma and a normie, and Chase being an elderly) without any consequences while Flambae is punished the three times he does something bad (he's at least humiliated, something Invisigal never gets)* or Golem is either excluded from the meeting room or get a chair thrown at him for (accidentally) throwing Robert.

*Except for the time he punches Robert, which sucks badly (others had already talked about it here and here) but happens once within an history of getting punished for his bad actions, unlike Invisigal

This could have worked in the game - and people like me would have complain a lot less - if she was held accountable for her shit, and most importantly

She never apologize, not even once. Even after punching Robert, or Chase, or trying to kill Robert. She can make mistakes, of course she does, redemption is hard. But she has to own up to it, which she never does.

True, it's shitty to refuse help to someone bc someone manage without, or bc they're getting better fast enough. But that's not the point of her critics. (Coupé is also in the bottom of the leaderboard, she also have villain powers and a tragic backstory, but she actually tried). Our points is that she's not actually trying, that she's never hold accountable and that all her redemption is on Robert's shoulder. Robert who is another person who didn't commit her crimes but is also her victim. She hurt him and he's the bad guy if she doesn't turn good. When she didn't even apologize for all the harm she did to him.

At no point the game actually blame her for her wrongdoings, all the consequences she suffer (or would suffer) are presented as bad or supposed to be reversed.

It's good you find yourself in a character and loves her @scorpequus. More power to you. But you're not her and criticism against her is not criticism about you. It's not bc you love something that you should be blind to their flaws.

I heard they took out the SA recently which is such a perfect metaphor - literally how every perpetrator gets away with their heinous crimes by erasing it as if it never happened. You know, how the system protects abusers while the victim gets painted as the bad guy (*cough villainising Blazer *cough)

ALSO also, every wrong thing she did, you could also point at another character in the Z-Team and say they did the same thing, and that includes the SA (Malevola will grope him, Phenomeman can kiss him, Punch-Up can put revenge porn on his computer)

Hell, Flambe tries to kill Robert in cold blood when he learns his identity. Invisigal was coerced into planting a bomb on Mecha-Man in exchanged for augments to help her breathe. Immediately after the plan goes through, she leaves her criminal life behind and joins SDN. Not even to get her augments fixed or anything like that, just because she knew what she did was wrong. Again, Flambe tries to MURDER Robert, and when he fails, he skips work and punches Robert in the face.

Also, remember that Invisigal knew Robert's identity before anyone else in the Z-Team, and she never took advantage of that knowledge. She never blackmailed Robert, never threatened to leak it to anyone, never even implied she knew it. To me, that's a sign of respect for Robert and his privacy / safety. Everything else she does (pre-locker-room-scene) is just banter and ribbing, same as the rest of the Z-Team.

Thanks the sky I didn't see anyone blaming Robert for being assaulted but the game does show us Invisigal being sad if you reject her. Bc after being sexually assaulted by her, it's HER feelings the most important, not her victim's, or her apologizing. The game want the player to feel bad for rejecting her.

It's true that other characters did the same thing as her. And while it's bad and the game should have deal with it better, it's far, FAR, from the level of Invisigal. She does everything a lot more often than everyone. For other character, it's once max for each of them.

For Invisigal, we have:

ep 2: spies on Robert and make sex jokes/insults Robert

ep 2: the donut sex joke which doesn't like at all

ep 4: check out Robert’s ass and jokes about him masturbating in his suit

ep 4: follows Robert to the bathroom and talks about her sex dream with him

And it's only from the top of my head, there's a lot more.

True, Flambae tried to kill Robert, just like Invisigal. The difference is that Invisigal never get any punishment for what she did. Flambae want to prison and lost two fingers. Second time he tried to be a dick to Robert, he's humiliated and loses either a tooth or his eyebrows. When he's bullying Waterboy, he's again humiliated and has to clean up everything (and buy BB's food depending of your choice). During the tacos dinner, he's once again humiliated. I agree that him punching Robert without any consequence was bad. But it's not on the same level as Invisigal.

Invisigal insults and punches Robert but not only she's never punished, she doesn't even get to apologize. Even after admitting trying to kill Robert, she doesn't say sorry. She may have joined SDN on her own bc of her guilt, but after getting there, she does nothing. She's at the bottom of the leaderboard and according to BB (who likes her), she screwed up like the Granny incident a lot. She's supposed to feel guilty for what she did to Robert but insults and PUNCHES him, when she knows he was in coma a few weeks? days? before.

That's great, Invisigal never blackmailed Robert's secret identity. That she learnt by spying on him and that Blonde Blazer threaten her to not say anything about it. Not leaking information that can endander someone is not impressive, it's the bare minimum. Invisigal is supposed to be (or tries to be) a good person, I don't see how that's a good defense. Would you congratulate an adult for going to the bathroom instead of wetting their own pants?

It wasn't "only a kiss", it was assault. It doesn't matter there was no penetration, it's still assault. She littreally forced his hands away when he tried to remove her from him, which he does BEFORE you can chose to kiss her back. The consent happens AFTER the kiss already happened.

"It was a mistake she made when in a low point." Then she should apologize. Her never doing that is one of the biggest flaws and weakness of her character.

"I'm not excusing it, don't get me wrong." 🤨 I fear that's what you're doing.

"Why is Invisigal not afforded the same grace as any of the other character?" Bc the game is aleady giving her a lot of grace, when she's by far the worse in term of acts comitted (except the literal antagonists of the game)

Situation

Episode 1 : Robert was saved by Blonde Blazer who then invited him to have a drink where they joked and discussed personal topics. They then went to settle on a billboard, just the two of them. They are a little drunk and Blonde Blazer is caressing Robert’s naked face after giving him a compliment (?).

Episode 7 : Invisigal went alone on a mission against direct orders to retrieve the Astral Pulse and failed, the Pulse now in the hands of Robert’s worst enemy who will use it for his crimes (at least, that’s what Robert thinks). Chase is in a coma and has a good chance of dying, Blonde Blazer and the Z-Team wants to kick her out of the team. Invisigal just confessed that she was the one who placed the bomb that almost killed Robert and put him in a coma. She's depressed and leaves after the discussion by making herself invisible and Robert visibly thinks that it’s the end

The kiss itself

Episode 1 : Robert is sitting right next to Blonde Blazer and looks at her intently. He approaches her slowly and gives her a little kiss. Blonde Blazer expected it, not only she doesn’t move (she’s a little drunk but you can assume with her powers that she can at least try to get away before), but if we don’t kiss her, she is visibly disappointed.

Episode 7 : Robert doesn’t know that Invisigal is there when she kisses him, invisible, and forces him against the lockers. At first, he doesn't seem to understand what is happening.

Rejection

Episode 1 : when Blonde Blazer turns away from the kiss and says no, Robert stops immediately and apologizes. He never tries to do it again.

Episode 7 : Robert tries for the first time to repel Invisigal but she pushes his hands away. If you choose to reject her again, Robert must push her forcefully and she leaves looking sad that he is not interested and without apologizing.

On one hand, you have an understandable mistake where the culprit stops and takes responsibility as soon as he understands that he is not wanted.

On the other, you have a physical confrontation where the victim must use force to escape it, while he did not give the slightest sign of being interested and had no chance of seeing him coming, and the culprit does not apologize for her actions.
