I was thinking about the SOTE story trailer and this moment from it and how Leda's voiceover speaks of Miquella abandoning his fate and then showing the shot of St. Trina falling into the Stone Coffin Fissure, and now I'm wondering... is the real reason that Miquella abandoned St. Trina because as part of his rise to godhood as an Empyrean chosen by the Two Fingers, Miquella himself was meant to be succeeded by St. Trina?
It's an interesting difference here. In the story trailer, Leda says the above about Miquella abandoning his fate, meanwhile in the game, the cross left at the Fissure reads, "I abandon here my love." She was the physical embodiment of his love, yes, but it also seems to be implied that St. Trina may have actually had a future, while Miquella was surrounded by nascent imagery and an inability to grow past what he already was, until he stripped himself of everything first, including but not limited to St. Trina.
The dichotomy between the "two halves of a whole" itself sometimes working together and sometimes not has also always interested me, and the biggest one we know of in Marika and Radagon seems to have a similar issue.
One of the things Melina repeats that Marika once said is a direct quote from Marika to Radagon in which she says, "O' Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order. Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god. Let us be shattered, both. Mine other self." She's telling him this before shattering the Elden Ring where he fails to stop her and repair it - basically calling him the Golden Order's lapdog, but in a not so gentle way remarking that "you have yet to turn out like I did, and if we shatter ourselves now, it'll save you from the same fate and release me, too." It left Radagon little choice or autonomy in saving the Elden Ring as the weaker self - he was not the god Marika was and was left rather to watch or fail miserably in putting the shattered Elden Ring back together. Her imprisonment seemed to be the only thing that allowed him to come into full control without Marika's say so when we fight him inside the Erdtree.
So if we take what we know about Marika and Radagon and look once again at this apparent fate for Miquella, if he was to be succeeded by St. Trina, might that have been the reason she was abandoned instead, rather than just for the sake of stripping himself of nearly everything to ascend to godhood or for the possibility that he saw love as a form of discrimination or favor as it's been suggested? What if the only way Miquella could rise to godhood at all himself was to strip himself of his own fate of never becoming a god at all whereas St. Trina might have been the one to surpass him?
A handful of people commented on my Trina/Malenia post, so have more headcanons. This is ABSOLUTELY going under a readmore though, I'm talking about dick headcanons (not for who you'd think) and body horror.

A lot of my Trina headcanons involve flowers. Given how the life/death cycle seems to work under the Erdtree, and how the demigods work in particular- I think Marika's children born via tree magic are literally flowers, and then they grow out of it a bit with age. Miquella put a lot of effort into being as adult as possible, but Trina is Our Lady of Snuggles and I think she's more chill about having plant body parts, to the point that she never truly gets rid of them. Eldritch babyface: various organs are still plants.
Since the narrative seems to imply Miquella is supposed to bear children, I'm taking that to mean his counterparts can and should have dicks. He's the femme to Malenia's masc, yin yang style, and Trina gets a dick because I say so.
BUT. She's a flower. So.
Please imagine this but purple.
Malenia, by contrast, actually physically ages and did end up with a more standard human dick. She just lost it because we can't have nice things with the Rot God all up in her business. It's trying to proselytize the benefits of a mycelial network and the many thousands of mushroom sexes she could choose from. Malenia does not want a thousand mushroom sexes. So her whole genital situation is a mix of locked DLC she refuses to pay for, and the rotten place where her dick used to be.
She's fairly convinced no one is interested and she doesn't have time for any horizontal tango, so she made her peace with being neutered by her own chronic illness. I don't think she's properly considered how the Cleanrot Knights feel about her, but that's a whole other bag of headcanons.
(side note: I think Romina definitely uses spermatophore packets, but I am wildly uncomfortable with centipedes so that's all I'll say)
THAT SAID.
It's my personal headcanon that Trina split from Miquella because of Malenia. Most of the lore we get about Trina involves her soothing the pain of others. She's Miquella's heart, his love made manifest. Everything he did was out of love for his sister- rejecting the Golden Order, trying to become a god in his own right, so on. Miquella is the engineer to compliment Trina's skills as a perfumer, in my mind. When Miquella wants to help someone, he gets to work in the forge or invents spells- when Trina wants to help, she offers lullabies and medicine.
To wrangle my point back into the foreground: Malenia suffers terrible nightmares and physical pain because of the Rot, as we see with Millicent. Marika's perfumers gave up. Miquella is not a perfumer, so part of him became someone who is capable of treating physical pain and nightmares.
Trina's lullabies and medicines might be used by other people for other purposes, but I think originally everything she is came into existence to soothe Malenia in ways Miquella despaired he could not.
Does this mean Trina literally has healing and/or painkilling come? Possibly. Potentially. It would be really fucking cool to have sex with a girl made of opiates, is all I'm saying. Especially if you have chronic pain. If a girl came down my throat and her come also doubled as muscle relaxants it would be extremely awesome.
Plus I love the twisted situationship concept of Trina being Malenia's perfect service dom and trying to persuade her into relaxing and being loved on for a minute, while Malenia tries to hone herself into a living weapon for her brother since she can't afford to take a day off lest the Rot advance, and Miquella spends every waking minute on science.
Anyway that's the rough concept of all my thoughts, you're welcome.
