Write a drabble inspired by this quote.

“I heard she didn’t receive an invitation to this season’s charity ball.”

“Well, of course! That’s what you get when you attend a wedding shower and bring a gift for the Lord but not the Lady. And being found later in an empty storage room, alone… What are people going to think? Their wedding shower, of all times.”

“Well… Dea did say it looked as though they’d been arguing rather than anything else…”

“That doesn’t matter. They’ve been divorced for over two hundred years, but it doesn’t take much to rekindle an old flame.”

“Do you think she’ll still come to the charity ball anyway?”

“Of course. Not as a party-crasher, mind–questionable gift-giving choices aside, she’s not barbaric–but she’ll worm her way onto the arm of another invitee as their date. You can count on that.”

You can count on that. 

Meredil smirked, tucked safely and anonymously behind a privacy partition at SIlvermoon’s premier clothier as a tailor began pinning his suit for a proper fit.

Nobles. How petty. How cruel. 

How endlessly entertaining.

The suits were piling up in his closet, but nobody would expect to find him here. His public disdain of nobility would remain intact. His new hobby would be kept a lovely little secret.
