We are happy to confirm our attendance for this year’s WPPI Annual Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, NV.  We have a full line up of keynotes and classes that we are looking forward to.  

Our main purpose for attending this event is to fuel up on inspiration for improving our services and products for our customers.  This event is a good opportunity to gain a deep understanding of where our industry stands and where it is heading.  Photographers from all over the world will come together to set new standards for our industry and we are glad to be part of it!  

We encourage anyone looking to get serious about their photography to attend this event.  Even if it’s just for a day at the Expo, we feel you’ll gain a valuable insight into this wonderful industry.  The Expo is how we first started our experience with WPPI, this year we have booked 4 full days and have entered the print competition.  This is a great experience that will take our craft to the next level, see you at WPPI in February!

A Magical Performance

Our second year working with Magical Steps was a success. We captured excellent photos of these students, and could not have done it without their variety of talents, which made it enjoyable to work with. These musicians, dancers, and performers showcased their skills and allowed us to capture their hard-working nature, to be shared with their proud families through photos.

A Downtown Love Story

We had the pleasure of meeting with Rudy & Vanessa a few times before their wedding day. From their engagement session, to location scouting and lunch, it was awesome getting to know these two and how their story came to be. Vanessa was Rudy’s high school math tutor, but she later became more of his distraction instead. Ten years later Rudy and Vanessa said their “ I Do’s”. Their day was filled with family, friends, and plenty of love and happiness. Thank You Rudy & Vanessa for selecting us to capture your day and capture the art in you. Cheers to your 1 year wedding anniversary and for many more to come.

We are looking for a creative individual who is knowledgeable and comfortable with photography, graphic arts, and is eager to gain real world startup experience.

Responsibilities: • Assist lead photographer with studio and on-location photo sessions. • Assist with editing photos and graphic design needs • Communicate well with clients to provide a good customer experience • Take orders and follow up with clients

Skills & Requirements: • Knowledge and interest in photography and graphic arts • Experience with photo editing in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop is a plus but not required • Good communication skills

Sometime it’s better to print...

Never Again.

 Is printing important in today’s society?  Maybe we should ask our children.  Don’t be that parent.  Here’s some humor for you.

The Ice Light 2, we finally got it!

A few months ago while at WPPI 2015 (Wedding & Portrait Photography International Conference+Expo) we had the opportunity to pre order Jerry Ghionis’ Ice light 2.  The Ice light, designed by Jerry Ghionis and manufactured by Wescott, is a portable, dimmable, LED light ideal for photography and film-making.

The delivery time of 10 weeks was a little more than expected.  The anticipation and excitement of waiting and finally seeing it delivered to our studio was teasing, however, it was a treat to open up the box and finally hold one of these things.  After inspecting the light, and playing star wars with it, we got to work and did a few test shots to get a better feel for it.  The creative lighting control is great!  There’s so many ways and situations were this will come handy.  We’re looking forward to using it during our wedding & portrait sessions and providing our customers with another level of service and quality.

A look back at WPPI

We are feeling excited and inspired after getting back from WPPI! Great speakers, internationally renowned photographers, print competitions, and so much more is what WPPI was about.  WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photography International Conference+Expo) is the premier industry event for photographers and filmmakers specializing in the creative and business aspects of wedding photography, portrait photography, and filmmaking.

Our week began with a live print competition and it was intense. The dedication and work that photographers put into their work to create lifelong memories for people is extraordinary. We learned sooooo much during the judging, it was an excellent learning and growing experience.

The classes offered by the industry photography leaders were insightful and inspirational. From lighting, weddings, portraits, business, albums and filmmaking these classes had it all.  The expo provided artistic, new, and creative products to offer our customers.

Among all the classes and expo, there was also room for a little fun with a talent contest, pool party, and award ceremony. Not to mention it all took place in Las Vegas!

According to Wikimedia, who manages an open source library, the famous monkey selfie photos are not bound by copyright law and should be freely distributed.

The dispute stems over a 2011 wildlife photography field trip to Indonesia by photographer David Slater.  Slater says that a group of monkeys took over his equipment and took hundreds of photos, producing a striking image of a smiling crested black macaque.  After several requests from Slater, Wikimedia refuses to remove the famous photos from public domain.

More recently, the US Copyright Office has stated that a work of authorship produced by nature, animals, or plants will not be registered for copyright.

Slater plans to take legal challenge and has said he is “getting advice on which jurisdiction…to take this under."
