Walking into the retro-style diner, Goku Black and Zamasu were more than a little out of place.
After all, they had already begun their Zero Mortal Plan, so their reputation spread like wildfire.
Upon seeing the two, immediately everyone was screaming in fear, and begging for their lives.
Little did they know, they had nothing to fear… For a certain mortal woman was there!
“E-Everyone, calm down. I know these guys have a fearsome reputation, but I promise they’re not going to do anything! We have a deal.” A woman held her hands out, trying to ease the understandably scared crowd.
“Hmph. So typical of mortals, to grovel like the worms they are.” Zamasu noted to his counterpart, before one stern look from the woman with them caused him to cease further unfavorable comments.
“Can we have a booth and three menus, please?” The lady requested, to which the host nervously obliged, quickly leading them to a booth, and fishing out three menus for them to look over.
“…I am unfamiliar with any of these terms. What is a… burger? Wing ding? Chicken pot pie?” Goku Black’s brows furrowed as he looked quizzically over the menu.
“I’d say. I do not quite understand the myriad of beverage options this establishment provides. There is water, but also an option for me to order a mountain dew. Do mortals really drink dews from mountains in excess?” He questioned his “mortal guide”, who was doing her best not to laugh at how lost they were with the menu. “I-I can only answer you two one at a time!”
“Okay, so a burger is typically a beef patty sandwiched between two slices of buns, with your choice of vegetables, condiments, and the like. A wing ding is just a simple chicken wing that is breaded. The chicken pot pie is a pie with chicken and vegetables in it. That “mountain dew” is actually a citrus-tasting bubbling drink called a soda, and this place has many of them. Given what I know so far from you guys, I do not think you will like soda…” She hummed.
Out of all the things in the menu, there was one item she thought might do the trick in making mortals appear more favorable.
As the two got over their confusion with many of the items on the menu, their eyes then went to peer over that one particular section the woman was thinking of.
“Milkshakes… Guaranteed to make your day… A quite high claim from a mortal product.” Zamasu frowned skeptically, as the woman practically beamed with an idea.
He didn’t eat food, unlike his counterpart, so this would be the perfect thing to convince him to spare all of mortalkind! And Goku Black too, since who, but the lactose intolerant, could resist a delicious milkshake?
“Well, believe it, because its true! And I think I got the perfect flavors in mind for us to try!” She giggled, as the two gods glanced at each other.
She was not as irritating as the others were, and they were already here, so why not take the gamble with these… milkshakes?...
After she placed their orders with a quite anxious server, they were then soon handed their milkshakes…
“...This looks like it would sooner kill us than be edible.” The two said in unison, as they looked over the milkshakes their “mortal guide” had selected for them.
The one milkshake in front of Goku Black, as explained by this peculiar mortal, was a strawberry milkshake. It was light pink in color, and was topped off with a fluffy substance and a cherry on top. It had a pink straw that had a heart looped in it, and the rim was “purposely” decorated with fudge and sprinkles. The latter he just saw as wasteful, since he had no intention of trying that, he was not a savage.
Zamasu’s milkshake was a mint chocolate chip that was light green in color, and had the other things Goku Black’s had.
“...Why have you selected these ones in particular for us, from the myriad of other flavors?” Zamasu questioned the woman, who giggled.
“Because they remind me of each of you. Yours is obvious, and when he goes Rosé? It's kind of that color.” She grinned, as the two softly shook their heads at her.
That was… kind of adorable.
“Let’s see if it is to our tastes, then.” Goku Black hummed, as he went to take a sip of his drink, as did Zamasu.
“...They truly do taste… Refreshing…” Goku Black hummed, smacking his lips as he contemplated the flavor.
“Mine has a very intriguing juxtaposition between the mint and these chocolate chips. Not bad a selection.” Zamasu complimented the mortal woman, who was more than shocked to hear it from him.
“Indeed. And these other additions are pleasing, as well.” Goku Black smiled, as he tossed the cherry into his mouth. “Fascinating… It tastes sweet, though it is supposed to have more of a tartness to it..”
“That’s because this type of cherry is called a maraschino, meaning they have them soak in this sugary syrup to make it extra sweet.” The woman explained.
“This truly would be a delicious way to die. Maybe I should put my immortality to the test with these human concoctions.” Zamasu mused, to which his “mortal guide” sweatdropped at him. “Uh, that's not quite how this works. Unless you’re only drinking these in excess, maybe… But I never heard of a milkshake killing anyone.”
If she wasn’t so used to their shenanigans by now, the looks of disappointment on their faces would be most alarming. They were really considering “milkshake” as an alternate method for their plans.
“I… Suppose some mortal concoctions are… adequate. And if it is relatively safe for mortals to consume, I see no reason why I should not share this product with you.” Zamasu concluded, going to push his milkshake over to her, as did Goku Black.
“What do you think? Which one out of our selections is the superior option? We trust your sensibilities.” Goku Black questioned, as she felt suddenly put on the spot.
“U-Uh, we don’t have any extra straws.”
“It's no matter. You can use ours.” Zamasu gestured. “As gods, it should be an honor for you to partake in the same beverages as we have.”
She couldn’t quite argue with that… So which one did she like more?
Since she picked those with them in mind, it was kind of like asking her to pick one of them.
But that was preposterous… Right?...
**Scene for those who are lactose intolerant:
“If I take one sip of this, my stomach and the rest of me will not like it at all. I'm lactose intolerant, and milkshakes have a lot of lactose in them.” She giggled nervously.
“Then I shall heal you of any negative effects. I am divine.” Zamasu said just as evenly.
At their quite insistent offer, she took a sip from each of the milkshakes. Unlike the two gods, they were quite different from each other. They each had something to appreciate.
But which one did she like more?
After their day at the diner, the trio left, but not without a meek waiter asking if they’re going to pay their bill.
“The only payment these mortals deserve is our mercy in sparing their lives.” Goku Black waved off as the trio left.
“This doesn’t feel right at all…” Their “mortal guide” sighed, going to reach for her wallet to pay the tab, but was scolded by Zamasu not to.
