“Is it seriously this hard to find a green sweater vest?” Douglas asked Gage as he continued to search through the racks of sweaters, using one of his hands to sign to her. After getting to know each other a little better, Douglas and Gage hit it off pretty well. They weren’t best friends, but Douglas did enjoy her company, and it was nice to have someone around who could relate to the environment he has lived in his whole life. It always slipped his mind that Gage could read lips, but signing was out of habit. Sometimes he did it even when the person he was with could actually hear.

I’ll drop out of high school and we can be bums together. That sounds pretty great.

I’m sorry. It hurts now, but I promise it’ll get easier to deal with as you go along. I’m not exactly the best example, considering I’ve been drinking over my ex-boyfriend when we broke up a year ago, but I mean, you’ll stop thinking about them and when you do, you’re finally free.

I miss him so much. I love him so much, and I have no idea where we went wrong.
