soggy bottom inspector

the brownie challenge was.........interesting? i think it was a case of everyone trying to do too much, whether it was bc it was in the brief or bc they just wanted to go all out for the bake off. to me brownies are best just by themselves, i don’t even like nuts in them, so the idea of eating an iced brownie is a bit :/ i liked lottie’s idea w the baked cheesecake but how was she ever gnna get it done in the time 

but also, the judges kind of over exaggerated how easy brownies are. they’re not! it’s very hard to know when to take them out of the oven. i was also kind of surprised that nobody seemed to be using cocoa powder, which is much easier than actual chocolate and allegedly lends itself to that sought-after fudgey texture (it said that on bon appetit dot com so it must be true)  

babka sounds really good and i want to try it one day. idk what else 2 say. several people have pointed out is that years ago bejamina made a babka and paul paul-splained to her that it was NOT a babka. much to think aout

my hottest food take is that white chocolate is Disgusting so a whole challenge that revolves around it is Evil to me. lottie’s looked so cool tho and i would try it just for her  ❤️

this week in paul aggravating me: when he told dave that his sponges were “too dark”, but when the judges tasted them they agreed that they weren’t overcooked. and yet paul maintained that the cake was simply too dark. bro shut up i’ll kill you

miss sura already!!!! she had such a warm and positive presence in the tent and seemed like a genuinely lovely person, i chruly wish her all the best. she was also my pick to win so my new top 4 picks are peter, marc, mark, and linda.
