there is nothing wrong with going through phases while you try and figure out who you are

there is nothing wrong with being confused about who you are. at any point in your life

there is nothing wrong with saying you were x identity a year ago and today saying you are something else. it does not mean you lied it does not mean you were doing it to be trendy it means you changed

thats what people do over time: they change

Yesterday I launched the RocketHub crowdfunding campaign to raise the funds I need to produce my show, “Depression: The Musical (A Depressed Girl’s Guide To Depression)” at The New York International Fringe Festival this August! It’s a darkly humorous pop-rock musical about falling apart and putting yourself back together. 

I’ve been writing and developing this project for about six years now, but I’ve been living it for the past 22 years. You might even say that this story has been in the making for the past 42 years! So, yes, this is my “baby” and, yes, it’s been a long, slow, sometimes painful labor. 

People have offered many potential explanations for this discrepancy, but this ad highlights the importance of the social cues that push girls away from math and science in their earliest childhood years.
