In this case, we’ll be assuming that Ghost got the Void Heart.

First off—they’re facing off against their sibling who left them to die who knows how long earlier. Their sibling is now bigger, and has been tied up for a prolonged period of time—for all Ghost knows, THK might be super angry and take it out on them.

There’s Infection everywhere, including in THK. Ghost is probably thinking, “Oh, god... that could be me...”

HALFWAY THROUGH THE FIGHT THK STARTS STABBING THEMSELVES. Stabbing themselves! There’s pulsing, swelling, bulbous Infection in their chest, and they’re STABBING it! Ghost was probably terrified out of their wits!

Once you get THK down to a certain HP level, the Radiance will take control of their body from the inside and either lift them in the air and slam them down or cause Infection to explode out of them. Can you imagine seeing someone get lifted in the air by seemingly nothing and repeatedly slammed on top of you? Or them suspended by invisible strings and globs of gross orange fluid being flung in all directions?

Then there’s the matter of Hornet swooping in to tie down THK. She expects Ghost to just dreamnail THK and then fight a goddess... after that whole ordeal???

That's why the Embrace the Void ending is so ominous. Because Ghost, the little Knight, is no longer doing this to save a dead kingdom. They are doing this for themselves. They are the aggressor now, and they are Going To SLAUGHTER The Radiance.

....But as for the Delicate Flower. Variant... maybe there are a few things left in Hallownest that they don't begrudge? Maybe some people that care for them, or just need a little positive push, or even, such as in Godseeker's case, might be forgiven after all. Or maybe Ghost just had no idea what that flower really entailed, as per the White Lady.
