Chances don’t have like, any friends so the idea of Mafi, someone who are least pretends to tolerate them, leaving suddenly makes them stressed and nervous honestly.

Mafi is confused on why Chance won’t pay his debt, again knowing Chance has the money.

Eventually it comes to a head and Chance confesses he’s scared Mafioso will leave if he pays, since now he won’t have a reason to keep tabs on him. Mafi sighs and despite his better judgement, comforts Chance. Unfortunately all the hanging out and going out for drinks that were meant for “discussing payment” worked on Mafi and eventually he’d fallen for the gambler.

So anyways. Listen to me. Childhood friends to lovers. They both come from a rich background, Mafioso being the son of a major mafia boss and Chance being the child of a casino owner. In my main AU, Chance's parents and Mafioso's father work together, with the Mafia having a contract with Chance's casino. Because of this both of them would meet up regularly at parties and such the two's parents would attend and would be forced to go to.

After a while, around their late teens, they didn't talk much. Mafi was too busy rising the ranks to become the next boss in his family, gaining respect and such, being the son of the boss makes it much harder for him to do so, and it takes him to his 30s to successfully make it there.

Chance on the other hand had basically everything handed to him, choosing to go out and gamble and get in trouble despite his parent's wishes. His parents unfortunately pass young, and leave the casino to Chance in their late 20s.
