Yaoi withdrawal

This is really funny to me because like. Have you seen some of the hands I’ve drawn. Wait don’t go look through them, I have tips yeah lol

For poses I answered a similar ask here, and another ask about building on top of gesture drawings and refs here! Those are a good place to start practicing!

As for hands, I’m taking an applied approach so this isn’t meant to be a substitute for an anatomy class.

Let's cover the basics first!

What I keep in mind when I go to draw smiles especially is that they are in motion along with the characters. The right smile adds story to the gesture!

When you’re doing your own studies, I recommend using candid photography as reference! It'll yield much more lively results than the stiff posed-out stuff.

so when it came time to decorate my binder for sixth grade, naturally i immediately printed out the best graphic of L i could find to slide right in the front. unfortunately, as i mentioned, my friends thought this was dumb as hell. so, embarrassed after several hours of merciless mocking, once i got home i crumpled up and threw the picture away in the trash

several days later i came home again and what do i see on my desk? that picture itself, flattened and framed. my stepmom had found him and said “hes cute! protect him.” and how could i say no to that
