I’ve been getting a lot of questions about this line I said in my song so let me explain. I just wana say it recently just got cool to “mainstream America” to be african. Like as recent as 3-4 years ago. And this isn’t my experience alone, a lot of Africans who came here earlier in the 2000s went through this. Before that, we was just african Booty scratchers to everyone and people made fun of our accent.. (I’m not saying every American did this, no. because there were some that were open minded back then, but MAJORITY did this). I used to get mocked in high school every time I spoke in class, like I couldn’t speak in class without someone repeating what I said trying to mock me. I would get slandered by other blacks for being “too dark” or some would even tell me to “go back to Africa to meet my lion pet” u know some dumb shit like that.. I even have an unreleased song called “white man” where I elaborate more about my experience when I first came to America. now it’s all gravy & everybody wearing danshiki’s, listening to african music, people all of a sudden love the accent, wakanda is cool to love, everyone embracing the culture, .. WHICH I have no problem with at all because truth is some people just weren’t educated with the culture and the media played a big part in making Africans look bad. But, I just don’t want this to be a trend, because trends come and go. This acceptance of the African culture has to forever be a way of life with every. Single. Person. Forever👍🏿.
