How does one not measure their success(or lack their of) in comparison to others?

Especially if you're given all the same tools and given all the same opportunity as the people you're comparing yourself to? How are we supposed to ignore or feel okay with our goals not being met after years of hard work gone by? In a world where you want to do what you love for a living but find little to no one loving what you do, how are we supposed to feel? They say just do what makes you happy, but it's much more than that. I get all work is work. I'll work my ass off, and have. But what they don't tell you is unless you have one of the following: - some sort of hook or gimmick - amazing production speed - socially engineering skills by marketing and befriending the demographic/fandom you're probably not gonna make it... .... next week I'm gonna be another year older. And I feel like I just, haven't made anything worthwhile. Most pals I made online over the years have vanished or were temporary to a fandom. Getting an art job and keeping it is harder than pulling teeth. I wish I could just, be fucking normal and happy for other people who have success. But it's just, so discouraging.... I know I just need to keep getting back up and on that horse. But it's getting so, so hard to do what I love when I see it's not enough. Not fast enough, not good enough. sorry. just, fucking ranting.
