Hi, Mystic Messenger community! As you guys may have seen from other content creators in the fandom, there is an issue with a reposter on Instagram. Here’s my personal experience with them today when I asked them to take down one of my posts.
The user is mystical.rfa.v, and their (now nearly empty) account had posted one of my text posts without permission. Upon viewing their account, I saw a ton of art and edits from friends in this community that had also been posted without permission. Now I’m pretty chill with reposters as long as they ask permission beforehand, which this user didn’t. Now my post? It was a silly text post that took me 15 seconds to write so it wasn’t that big of a deal to me. As the user stated, “it’s only a text post” - and they’re right!
What made me upset was seeing art and edits that my friends and others in this community spent hours on, with passion and skill and the motive for the fandom and themselves to enjoy such content, was hastily posted on this account with zero respect for the creators. No link back to the creator, no tags, nothing. Posting the phrase “credit to the artist” doesn’t cut it. Especially not when you didn’t even ask permission in the first place to post it. So, Mystic Messenger community, please speak out if you see anyone reposting content. There’s a good chance they didn’t respect the creators when they posted it. Respect the content creators that give so much to this fandom. This is the kind of thing that makes artists and other creators stop posting.
