“Daphne and Velma: Buried Secrets” is the title of the third entry to the YA series! Written by Morgan Baden, this book is slated for a June 2021 release. Check out the summary for the book below from Google Books: “There’s big news in the town of Crystal Cove: A TV show based on the town’s mysterious past is filming in the Haunted Village. Many of the hottest teen TV stars are on set. Daphne is excited; she’s been hired as a writer’s assistant on the show. News broke last week about HBO Max ordering a “Velma” prequel spinoff starring Mindy Kaling. Scooby fans have shown mixed feelings on this adult-oriented project. Entertainment Weekly says it’s described as “an original and humorous spin that unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers”. Mindy Kaling, who’s also executive producing the project, posted on her Instagram saying that “Velma will struggle to navigate the pitfalls of high school, her budding sexuality, and a serial killer intent on murdering every popular kid in town”. What are your thoughts on this upcoming Scooby spinoff? Are you excited for it like we are or are you skeptical?
