i had no resolutions for 2025 and felt a little lost, so hopefully having somewhere to start in 2026 will set me up for a great year!! this year has not been the best except for certain moments, but i'm determined to make next year MY YEAR!! WATCH THIS SPACE!!!
1. spend less time on my phone
in my free time, i would like to get back into drawing and reading frequently!!! i have recently begun drawing again and i really hope that motivation continues into the new year!! i have also marked all of the books on my shelf that i have not yet read, and my goal is to read them all by the end of 2026 :D so the sub-resolutions in this category are:
• read at least two books a month, ensuring they are books i will actually enjoy — no forcing myself to read something just because it's popular
• do something creative every night before bed (drawing/colouring/etc)
2. be healthier!!
yes very broad!!! really any improvement is good for me, even if it's small. i would like to feel better about myself as a whole, so mental health comes into play here too!! say it with me: we will stay clean in 2026!!! overall, i would like to eliminate the impending doom and guilt i feel daily however that is a HUGE TASK so i need to keep it realistic!!! burnout and low moods are inevitable, so here are my sub-resolutions!!!
• eat less as a whole — no stress eating or eating when i'm bored (i will ban food from my room to try and avoid this)
• walk 10,000 steps at least three days a week
• workout at least twice a week (i do not have a gym membership and am unable to get one unfortunately soooo youtube will come in handy here!!)
• be vegetarian for the majority of the time!! my family will NOT cater to this so i will need to find ways around them, but i will try my best to stick to this!!
3. become more educated
both in school and about current issues!!! i always feel like i am missing something when conversations happen, especially surrounding the world, so i want to work harder to understand what is happening. i am also going to sit some very important exams this year, so i really have to lock in!! therefore my sub-resolutions are as follows:
• weekly revision on sunday, covering everything i have learned at school that week
• read the news!! look into things more!! ask questions!! ASK!!! QUESTIONS!!!
I know that I'll certainly never be someone they'd build a memorial for, but if I could get one, I'd like to get one of those park bench statues that are sitting on the bench. Specifically of me sitting casually looking towards the other seat at an angle, looking intrigued with a "surprised but not disappointed" kind of a look on my face. Kind of a "huh, won't you look at that."
I want that specifically so people can make it a meme to post pictures of themselves showing me stuff. Like memes off their phone.
Or maybe things that they are proud of but don't have anyone else to show them to. Like your school graduation papers, this cool knitting project you finally finished, your baby who's never going to see their grandparents.
And I also want a clause that they will absolutely fucking never put those anti-homeless things of any kind on my damn bench. So if there's ever someone who's got nobody else to keep them company, they can at least spend the night with me.
If there was an Ancient Rome themed Cards Against Humanity expansion pack, one of the answer cards would definitely be "heroic nudity". Like as an example
