Hello! My name is Peri, and I am the creator of Donkey is Missing. Donkey is Missing (which we will call DIM for convenience), in case you were not aware, is a webcomic. But what is it about, you may ask? This post will tell you everything you need to know.
ABOUT DONKEY IS MISSING
DIM is a comic about... many things. After his best friend is kidnapped, Shrek finds himself in a mysterious new dimension. He quickly learns he is in a place called Horseland, and begins a trek across the land to find his Donkey. That is the basic explanation.
DIM started out as a completely ironic comic, this shows itself prominently in early chapters (particularly chapters 1-3). It was drawn intentionally crudely, it was hard to follow, but it was funny. Which was why most people came to read it in the first place. But as the comic continued, it began to form a coherent story. It was like I had picked up the pieces I sloppily laid out previously and attempted to salvage it into something worth reading. I like to think I succeeded.
A big part of DIM is its self awareness, even though it is now a serious comic I put actual effort into, I have not forgotten its routes. DIM is self referential, poking fun at tropes and its own existence in the medium it dwells. Sometimes it follows shitty tropes on purpose, only to sweep the rug right underneath you (cough, love at first sight trope).
Besides the glaringly obvious elements of the comic, there are reoccurring themes I have in the comic, that all come together to form itâs ultimate lesson. That lesson being âNothing lasts foreverâ. You will find out why this is the case eventually. But keep that in mind if you decide to read!
DIM is a stupid webcomic, yes, but there is also potentially triggering content it deals with. Some things that may be sensitive to a reader. These topics include abuse (verbal/physical) and body horror. They have only happened a few times, but if anything else comes up, I will update this section accordingly.
Now that I have you filled in on what DIM is, I bet you are asking ANOTHER question, âhow can I read itâ? Well youâre in luck, because we are rapidly approaching the RESOURCES section of this post. DIM was originally made for Instagram, but some of the posts are out of order, so it is not a very ideal way to read the webcomic. Instagram IS a good place to read newer updates, though. They come in sets of 10, so it is easy to read. I would recommend the DIM ComicFury site if you wish to read from the start, though.
