At our House, students balanced college, house chores, physical training, and skill development, to keep them busy and productive. Some mastered dance under the guidance of their supervisor. Those who advanced were chosen to perform at a talent show. Every step was crafted by their supervisor—refined, timed, sharpened. The pressure was real; they knew exactly what disappointing Joan entailed. There was no exit or costume change after their performance—just the realization, as they stood among the others, that this, too, was part of the plan.
