Descended from the Stars

"So I’ve heard…" Rosalina’s smile faltered a bit as her gaze fell down to the stitched road. During one of her rare visits to the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach had told her all about the strife caused by Smithy and his plethora of followers over tea. Out of all of the adventures she and the Mario Brothers had told her about over the years, that particular tale had a special place in her heart. After all, she always one to love a good story. 

"In fact, I can recall where I was when the stars told me the road was shattered." The star keeper had been off in some other distant galaxy, handling yet another cosmic disturbance. It was a worrisome time for her to say the least, but she had faith that proper assistance would be sent to mend this issue. "The cosmos were fortunate that you were there to aid our friends down below." She said with a quiet chuckle. "Yes…Star Road is quite worn, but still as enchanting as I remember it."

"Since then, however, there hasn't been a single disturbance, not even of the most minor caliber... " He then ambiguously paused, not exactly finishing that one sentence. Geno's voice was seemingly reserved and tranquil for the most part, but in actuality... there was something lingering in his mind, a thought that has slightly troubled him of recent past. Surprisingly enough, it didn't deal with the advent of the many visitors stumbling upon the Star Road, but one in particular that hasn't visited yet... but their presence was expected.

"I wouldn’t do it any other way, darling… I couldn’t make it if I didn’t."

However… she tilted her head this time.

"Hmm... I wouldn't deem it much as a mistake, but perhaps an inconvenience, if you will."

"I must admit that I took my own friends for granted once upon a time. Dating back to the period when Lord Smithy shattered the Star Road, I saw my allies only as those who would assist my goal in restoring all of the fallen pieces." That was the truth of Geno's utmost, dutiful nature. His number priority: righting the wrongs in the world. However, this was the first time he's ever genuienly made friends.

"I knew that I would have eventually departed from their world in the aftermath of Smithy's defeat. It's difficult to explain how much I've come to, well... miss them in the end." And in that moment, Geno briefly displayed an expression of guilt, but made sure to keep it hidden. Though considering that Savvy worked as a psychic, it probably wouldn't even matter.

Her attention went up at the space that dwelled above them. She seemed to be musing in her mind, as she did quite often when she didn’t mean to. It was part of how she was, what she was used to. Still, usually it didn’t bother people… especially when they really wanted her to be sure of something she said rather than just blurting things out.

It was a delicate topic on his part.

"Please, then continue with what you have been doing, Ms. Savvy. Frequenting your friends, being able to rely on each other." After looking over at his guest, Geno reverted back to gazing into empty space.

"Hm?"

Her attention was immediately piqued again as he begun to ask her. She thought over it for a moment, switching between a frown and a soft smile. 

"It's basically a matter of trust." It was a cherished thing that Geno held strongly for himself. In rebuilding the Star Road, he grew to rely on Mario and his friends to defeat Smithy and win the day. That moment was when Geno could genuinely consider someone as not only an ally, but a person he could consult. Even a thousand year old star spirit still needed assistance no doubt.

But that's not particularly what the doll was attempting to converse about this time around.

"Oh, really?"

She seemed inquisitive about this fact, as she had seemed about most of what was said. Leaning over into the fountain, she looked at still before softly putting a hand in it. She watched it ripple just a little bit before cupping her hands together and gingerly bringing a pool of it up to her mouth. A smile curved up on her lips once again as the taste hit her.

He decided to move forward and take a seat around the fountain himself. The doll maintained a good distance between himself and the psychic. More or less, Geno's gaze was fixated in a straight path, not really glancing which way or the other. To say that he was consistently pondering to himself would be no doubt true.

"Ms. Savvy... I've been wondering." He began, still looking into empty space save for the starry sky that went on boundless.

{…♪…ハート…?…どなりつける…} She attempted to convey the strange name through telepathy, but still failed. Yep, she’s just be calling him Geno. {…It’s nice to meet you, Geno! I’m Jirachi!} By now, she’d decided that this person wasn’t a threat. {I used to sleep a whole lot, and only the Millennium Comet could awaken me. It comes for seven days each millennium. After the seven days, I absorbed power from it and went back to sleep, slowly transferring some of the power into Forina, the valley I live in. But somebody wished that I could stay awake and still maintain Forina. I’m not sure who it was. I was drowsy at the time.} Jirachi usually spoke little, but if it were about the Comet, she could go on and on.

Geno folded his arms and proceeded with his own deduction, which was more or less not difficult. "Interesting. So you are one who has absorbed celestial power before." He could already connect the dots as Geno looked towards Jirachi, expression intent.

いろいろ詰め

Her anger was met with calmness on Geno's part. All that could be done at the moment was simple acceptance. After a second or so of pondering, the doll elected to finally speak up.

"I can't say I've dealt with many deities in the past. Of course, excluding those whom I serve under." Folding his arms, he realized that his own position was somewhat parallel to hers. Though Geno couldn't fathom the elders of Star Road suddenly betraying their own.

By the time she finally bounced her way up to the statue, she stopped and stared up at it with that same awe in her face that she had before. It was soon replaced with a dumbfounded little smile, and a couple of little steps to take a quick peek around it, but not walk around it completely. She was obviously impressed by it.

"Oh my goodness, it’s gorgeous!" She chirped, excitement in her voice. "A fine symbol of victory it is! I simply adore it!"

"Indeed, it truly is a sign of victory after everything that's transpired beforehand."

Looking forth at the fountain, Geno's focus was particularly invested on the statues raised throughout the establishment. He didn't say a word, merely gazing upon all four in thought.

It wasn't too long until the star spirit realized he appeared to be slightly frowning. Simply shaking his head slowly, Geno returned to his senses and glanced towards the clairvoyant.
