What she means: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet really do a fantastic job at addressing trauma, and this is something that hasnât really been touched on in Pokemon this deeply before. Itâs realistic and relatable and so beautifully written that it makes people physically emotional over it. Itâs about Penny, about her history with bullying and how she was forced to take things into her own hands. Itâs about Arven, who grew up with a distant parent, who nearly lost his best friend in an attempt to get said parent back, who canât help but feel contempt for the creature that caused his parentâs disappearance. Itâs about Miraidon and Koraidon, who was involved in a territorial dispute so violent and vicious that it lost its caretaker and any ability to fight, who had to flee from the only place it could call home and has such bad memories associated with it that itâs triggering. Itâs about the Professorâthe AI Professor, who worked alongside their creator, who discovered that maybe the things they were working so hard towards were wrong, who had to witness said creator pass away, who had to continue on with that legacy and battle with their own programming to do the right thing. Itâs about losing a parent, one that might not be classified as a âgoodâ parent, yet itâs still painful. Itâs about actually addressing that death and what it means and why it happened. Itâs about all of these kids and these Pokemon coming together to break through that trauma with their own strength, through their trust, through the raw belief they have in each other. Itâs about friendship.
