One night I was in San Diego with one of my girl friends. It had been a horrible day and the night wasn't seeming to be better. Rachel suddenly disappeared and I couldn't find her. Both of our phones were dead, we were in a city that was new to us and I was scared. I searched for her in every way I knew how, but to no avail. I stop and ask some strangers for help. Thy invite me into their home for what seemed like the first good thing to come my way that day. One of the young men offered to buy me a cab to Esconditio where he lived so that I could use his shower, phone, computer, etc. There were two other young women in the room who were very nice and didn't seem to be on edge so I kindly accepted his offer. Fast forward to us in the cab-I suddenly realise this isn't just a cab ride. He has his hand on my knee and I push it off. I'm explaining to him I'm not going to his house to have sex with him, that I'm truly trying to find my friend. He tells the cab to pull over and literally kicks me out into the street. Just because I wouldn't accept that I am somehow supposed to be obligated to have sex with a person for doing me a favor. Me, a human being that needed help. I stand there absolutely sobbing wondering what in the fuck I am going to do. Suddenly a car pulls up next to me. It's the cab driver. He heard the whole thing and kicked this guy out of his car and came back to get me. This truly was the first good to come out of the day. I tell him that my friend has my purse and I have no money to pay him. Not only does he not care about this but he gives me all of his tips and buys me a hotel room for the night. He writes down his number and told me to call him if I needed anything. I was so bitter before and this saint of a human being restored my faith in humanity. In the morning I ask the front desk of the hotel if I can use their computer. Rachel had messaged me on Facebook to tell me she was safe and she told me her address to meet her. Because of the tips this sweet man gave me I was able to catch the bus back down to the boardwalk and find my friend. Never think for a minute that you need to sell yourself short and put out just to appease someone. This man, or little boy rather, was a disgusting person who didn't deserve a woman of any kind. Be strong and stay true to who you are, someone will appreciate it and help you. Be strong ladies.
