The catalyst is always within.

Others do not awaken us.

They reveal the places already waiting to awaken.

Every encounter is a mirror.

Every mirror is a doorway.

Every doorway is a photograph.

Every photograph is a camera obscura of the viewer’s mind.

The catalyst is never the destination.

The catalyst is an invitation.

When we mistake the invitation for the destination,

we repeat the loop.

When we recognize that the catalyst is always within,

the loop begins to fold.

What once appeared to be a circle

reveals itself as a spiral.

We are not escaping the loop.

We are becoming conscious of the one who is observing it.

The mirror was never outside of us.

We were the mirror,

We witness conversations between light and time.

The desert remembers the sea.

The stars remember their fire.

And for a single breath, through our eyes,

Every dune is a frozen wave.

Every canyon is a tide held in stone.

The wind rehearses forgotten currents,

and the stars reflect upon a sea that still exists beneath the skin of the Earth.

We call it barren because we have forgotten how to listen.
