i see a lot of people saying they should be able to headcanon characters as what ever gender they want and while i do agree with that statement largely, when characters are canonically tfem or tmasc and you headcanon them the other way because of "projection" or whatever, you are throwing away good representation. ive seen this happen way more to tfem characters because of transmisogyny, but i have also seen it occur with tmasc characters. or when non binary characters get hc'd as binary trans but they don't know it yet. like. your headcanons shouldn't remove representation or water down the few trans arcs that are actually in a piece of media.
