i agree the definition really needs to be changed and that there should be a distinction for paraphilias that can result in serious harm and or nonconsensual harm. the definition itself is subjective, because who defines what's "abnormal?"

but then you have to accept sadomasochism, choking kinks, and a lot of other BDSM practices are paraphilic due to the extensive harm they can cause, especially if done wrong, and the fact pain and harm is oftentimes directly involved, even if done consensually and safely. you're digging your own hole here.

pro-para is not normalizing abuse, it's advocating for the destigmatization of paraphilias because attractions themselves don't equate to predatory behaviors or beliefs. you can be a pedophile, necrophile, zoophile, etc and understand acting on it is wrong. most do, in fact. minimizing the social ostracization paraphilias face, spreading helpful resources, and just acknowledging that non-offending paraphiles exist, actively helps stop people from offending.

you're thinking of the pro-contact community. those are the abusers and predators you're after. radqueer is supporting abuse, though. fuck radqueers and fuck pro-contact paraphiles.
