I said what I said đ
(Really hope I donât lose followers for this but here we go.)
As someone who was in the True Crime Community from 2017-2018 (I went by dahmershandsaw but my account was deleted thank god) I want to say that it was by far one of the most toxic âfandomsâ I was ever involved with.Â
I was going through a very hard time in my life in 2017, my dad cheated on my mom and I became hateful and numb to everything because of him. I was an edgy 15/16 year old who thought that romanticizing serial killers was edgy. I even became an alcoholic. I became so desensitized to death and I thought making light of the atrocities committed by Jeffrey Dahmer, Dylan Klebold, Eric Harris and Ted Bundy âwasnât that bad.â I even thought that Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy and Dylan Klebold were Attractive for Christâs sake. I even thought it was cute and quirky to have BPD (which yes, I actually have.) I made stupid posts and edits, hell, I even considered buying a âWRATHâ shirt that Dylan Klebold wore on the day of the Columbine Massacre.Â
I AM NO LONGER THAT PERSON
I honestly think that The Beatles, Stranger Things, and going to a new therapist brought me out of that toxic mindset, and as cheesy as it sounds I think that they truly helped change my life. Iâm no longer an alcoholic (Iâm a stoner now though lmao.), I see things in a more positive light and I let go of my toxic behavior. Please, if youâre someone in the TCC who romanticizes killers, get help. Talk to someone. Take the time to think, âWhy do I think this way?â Get new hobbies or something- I just know that the TCC can be a very toxic place. I donât see myself ever going back to that âfandomâ or that mindset ever again.Â
It felt nice to finally get that all of my chest.
Hi please read. This is from my new blog. Fuck the TCC.
