have you seen ( daniel kim, he/him )? They look a lot like ( steven yeun ). The ( 42 ) year old ( cybersecurity analyst ) is so ( generous, polite, neighborly ) but I heard they can also be really ( distracted, disorganized, deceptive ). Can you believe theyâve been in town for ( all his life )?! They live in the ( the cove ) neighborhood and kind of remind me of ( computer parts stored haphazardly, too many missed calls and unanswered texts, tangled cables sticking out of half-open drawers, 64 bit video games). If I was asked, Iâd guess that they were ( always late ) in their yearbook for the class of ( 2002 ). Â

Very Brief Character Background
Daniel Kim, formerly Daniel Jeong, took his motherâs last name after his parentsâ divorce when he was 7.
His parents cohabitated even after the divorce.
Grew up in and around Reynoldâs Ranch, where his mom worked full-time and his dad was there for seasonal work and eventually not at all.
His father was an aspiring actor, catching his big break starring alongside Sloane Whitaker-Abernathy in a 90âs thriller.
Nothing much came of it. His star fizzled quickly and quietly, with Carroll none the wiser.
Daniel was a little menace growing up, always in trouble at school and always grounded.
That changed in his tween years, when his parents got a computer. He was still a miscreant, just online now so nobody noticed.
He left town for college when he was 18, got expelled for hacking the gradebook to fix his failing grades a year later.
Started a cybersecurity firm with his friends in his mid-20s with dubiously acquired funds.
Came back to Carroll when he was 32 now wealthy and successful!
Bought his parents a retirement home in Florida, now Daniel resides in the old family home in the Cove.
Extra
When asked, says he made his money in bitcoin. People assume investments, but really he was behind the Mt. Gox hack that crashed the bitcoin market in 2014.
His father, Ethan Jeong, got a few acting gigs under the pseudonym Ethan Park, but few people in town know that. He disappeared from public life a year after his breakout role in that 90's thriller, spotted around town rarely, mostly on his way to and from church.
Feeds the two stray cats that wander around his property and calls them Mario and Peach.
Will talk your ear off if you let him. The more comfortable he is with you, the chattier he gets. This man will not shut the fuck up.
Joined the book club at The Other Page but skips whole chapters of the book so he's always surprised when they meet to discuss the book! He's mostly there for the wine and the company and everyone knows it.
Gets noticably uncomfortable around law enforcement.
Big horror movie fan!

Cody looked over at the front door and cursed under his breath. "That's not supposed to be unlocked." Who would have known how long the door was unlocked for. Surprisingly nothing was missing. Then eventually just shrugging like that was a normal thing at their house. "Sawyer works long hours at the car shop and he's been helping out his brother with his health." Daniel was definitely no kid but he enjoyed the company. "My question is...what are you doing here?...Not that I mind the company."
Daniel followed Codyâs gaze to the front door. âWell, it was,â he insisted, snuggling back up under the blanket. âI keep telling you you should do something about that lock.â Like get one that wasnât so easy to pick. âOh yeah, that storm was crazy. It came out of nowhere. Glad to hear Charles is on the mend though.â Danielâs gaze drifted back to Cody at the question, eyes narrowing. âWhat do you mean?â Finally, he sat up. âDid you forget about movie night? I brought a nice bottle of wine and everything! Donât tell me youâre cancelling.â
Did no one really notice anything suspicious? Some creepy guy who was watching your every move, or the girl who smiled too sweetly and whose good morning sounded like she was saying, Iâm going to stab you in the neck ? Either Natalie had too much experience with people who had committed any crime, or her previous job had led her to see everyone as a potential murderer. Or both. It doesn't matter. Either way, a woman was murdered, her bones scattered under everyone's noses, and the only one who noticed was a dog who decided to feast on a forearm and hand bone, which could prove crucial to the case.
"Does anyone know a brown dog, mid-thigh height, who likes to take what doesn't belong to him?" she asked over the air, wanting to help in some way. Until the FBI asked her, Natalie was dormant, writing notes for her new book. But the truth was, the police and the feds would soon be knocking on her door, asking her to lead the investigation again.
It was embarrassingly easy to sneak past the front gate at Port Carroll. It almost felt like it was that way on purpose, like they were watching him, and would intervene if they thought he was up to something. But then what was the point of a security gate, Daniel wondered? Did these rich folk pay so much extra for the false sense of security the gate provided?
How embarrassing.
He didnât really have a destination in mindâokay, yes he did, but he took his time getting there, walking down the streets of Port Carroll like he was a resident there, out for an afternoon stroll. Although he had yet to see another person outside in the entire time heâd been wandering the street.
That woman was the first person he had seen. The one asking about a dog. Daniel considered walking past without acknowledging her but, âI havenât, no,â Daniel responded. If there was a lost dog, he had to help. âIs he yours? When was the last time you saw him?â
ââŚDidnât know we turned this place into a homeless shelter after dark,â he muttered, looking briefly at his watch then back at them. It was clearly a joke and his home was open to his and Sawyer's friends as much as anyone else in town. It was more of him having a dad sort of sense of humor. Taking a sip from his beer. "We have the spare bedroom. You don't have to sleep on the couch."
Daniel peered up from where heâd made himself comfortable on the couch. âNo? Then why was the front door unlocked?â He made no move to get up. In fact, he snuggled in more, pulling the blanket heâd grabbed off the back of a chair up to his chin. âWhereâs your better half? You took so long coming home I actually almost fell asleep.â

Bianca didn't care that other people weren't as excited that they were out here announcing their connection to the band. All that mattered was just how proud Bianca and Ivan were of their son and if that meant telling everyone then so be it. She just knew that when Banks was around she had to show she was proud, she always tried to show just how much she loved him. Even if it could be a bit embarrassing in the long run.
"Yeah catching him afterwards sounds like a good idea. That way he knows we're here." They always tried to be good parents to their children but especially when they had hobbies they could support like this. As soon as Ivan pulled out his phone, Bianca quickly leaned in to give him a kiss on the cheek as he took the photo. "Sorry I couldn't resist it. You look so handsome tonight."
The corners of his eyes crinkled as his smile widened, feeling the press of Biancaâs lips to his cheek. He snapped the selfie at that moment, then turned his eyes on her. âWhy are you sorry? I just got a kiss from the most beautiful woman in the room, whatâs there to be sorry about?â Ivan pressed a kiss to her lips, chaste and quick, before looking back at the selfie on his phone. âSee?â He tilted the screen her way so she could get a better look. Ivan looked goofy in it, but she was gorgeous. The stage was in the background, and you could barely make out Banks on the drums back there, but that was fine. Ivan knew he was there.
âAnd now heâll know weâre definitely here,â he said, switching from the camera to his text messages. He searched for the family chat and attached the picture, waiting for the okay from Bianca before he hit send. Ivan was sure his kids had the chat on mute, but he pretended not to know that.
The season was changing, and that was always something Atlas enjoyed. The way the leaves changed colours, the coolness in the air, it always made him feel at home wherever he was. The difference this time was that he actually was home. It had been a long time since he'd been in Raven's Peak at this time of year, so he planned on making the most of it.
As he walked through Nightshade Park, he took in the feeling of it all. He wasn't sure how long he had been walking, but he decided it was time to sit down and just enjoy the scenery. Walking up to the nearest bench, he looked at the man who was already sitting there. "You mind if I join you?" He asked, motioning to the seat. "Great time of year, don't you think?"
Ivan was in no way enjoying the scenery, but he at least was outside and getting some sun. He had to remind himself to do things like that sometimes. His hobbies were all indoor kind of things, and with the kids all grown and out of the house, there was really nothing forcing him to go outside. Nothing except his health, of course, which was why he was sitting outside, phone in hand, watching as the bids kept coming in during the final hour of the auction.
Stupid eBay, Ivan grumbled to himself and drank from his coffee cup. It was supposed to be a dying platform, why were so many people on here bidding on this particular cabinet? Losers, he thought, and bid on it again.
âOh!â He looked up, surprised when the other addressed him. âNot at all, go right ahead!â He scooched over on the bench to make extra room. âIt is, isnât it? The weather is perfect.â He drank another sip of coffee. âWhat brings you out here?â
Location: Downtown street near Nouveau Table
Time: Late (after closing)
OPEN TO ALL
Helping wipe down the tables after the last customers left for the night, Caryn Moreau smothered a laugh at the thought of what her parents would think about her current situation. Theyâd have been horrified to find her working as a âservantâ in a public restaurant, even one so classy as the Nouveau. It would have been below her as the daughter of royal blood.
But working here gave her the chance to overhead many conversations â as sheâd long ago found that people tended to ignore and overlook the âhelpâ.
With a few final farewells to her coworkers, Caryn slipped out the front door and began strolling down the street towards home. The atmosphere of this town had a weight to it, a different feel to the air, and she could feel her instincts poking her to keep her attention focused on her surroundings. She missed the easy feel of New Orleans and the lovely slow pace of speech and life, but if Lincoln wanted to be here for now, then here she would be.
The sound of footsteps behind her drew a hint of a smile to her lips as she continued to stroll along. âAnd do you plan to continue following me?â she asked, a sweet tone in her voice. âOr did you want to say hello?â
Ivan had meant to stay an hour, maybe two after closing, but as was usual of him when he was absorbed in his projects, he had lost track of time. Now it was late, and Bianca would be worried. Or upset! Ivan hated the thought.
He hurried down the street, shooting his wife a quick text explaining his whereabouts. Times like this made him wonder if he really should move his workshop from the backroom of Asteroid Arcade to the basement of their home, as inconvenient as it may be. They would have to move a lot of boxes around, maybe get rid of some things, and transporting the cabinets to and from the arcade would be a pain, but at least his wife wouldnât have to worry about it.
It was something to think about, anyway. Ivan shared his location and pocketed his phone, coming to an abrupt halt when the young lady spoke to him. âWhat?â He glanced behind him, but there was no one else around. âIâm not following you. Iâm trying to get home.â

Luca still wasn't sure what had brought him here. Sure, he wanted answers, but who was to say he would find them here? Sure he had a hunch but he had been wrong before. Even then having to leave his family behind left a dull ache in his body. While he was used to being independent maybe he could find a new 'family'. here.
Or not, either way it doesn't hurt to try right?
He stood behind the counter of Cup O' Joy as he prepared for the day ahead of him. He always enjoyed coffee in his human life, not that he really needed it these days he found some joy in preparing the drink. He still avoided going by the police station, reminders of the life he left behind, the life he never got to have.
Luca glanced up as the door opened smiling as he cleaned a coffee cup, "Hi, how can I help you?"
Ivan gave an internal wince as he looked over the items on his list again. It was a large order, but thatâs how it was when you were ordering for a whole bunch of people. The barista would be displeased, and Ivan couldnât help but feel a little bit guilty about that. Still, it wasnât his fault that he couldnât order ahead, was it? Ivan groaned quietly, the guilt resurfacing as he realize he would be holding up the line tooâŚ
Oh well! There was nothing to be done about it. The people needed their treats.
A sheepish look came upon his face as he walked into the establishment. Whose day was he about to ruin, he wondered? A voice he didnât recognize greeted him, Ivan blinking as he looked over at him. Someone new? What a terrible first impression he was about to make.
âHi!â Ivan greeted, approaching the counter. âOh god, okay, Iâve got a list hereâŚâ He started reading off the list. There were two cappuccinos and two lattes, one of each with caramel syrup. There was an iced something-something with whipped cream, and a plain black coffee. All medium. âI also need six slices of the pumpkin loaf.â Ivan looked at him with an embarrassed smile. âIâm sorry, I know itâs a lot.â
Boy, did he want a drink.
For weeks now, the man had to grapple with this urge. Any time he passed the Mini Mart, or The Lone Wolf, or Jukebox Junction... That pull was there, to flush seven years sobriety down the toilet and honestly, he had full intentions on doing so, as soon as he was finished setting his affairs in order. Vicente had every plan to march into one of these establishments and not leave until he was two sheets to the wind. None of that progress mattered anymore. His entire cover -- fifteen years -- blown overnight, over one insane decision. Might as well numb himself to everything, have a decent glow and no wits about him on the way out.
Now, here he was, pacing past Sugar & Spice Frozen Delights for who knew how many times now -- he kept circling the block. Anxious, as his gaze passed over every person he walked by, the paranoia that one of them might just know who exactly he is, and not care they were in public. Was Vicente scared? He supposed he was, but the hunter had always known this day would come. He wouldn't turn coward and run now. Even if he tried... If these creatures didn't find him, other hunters would, to rid themselves of this liability. As the man came to stroll by the ice cream shop another time, his steps slowed once more to peer inside briefly at the pretty blonde who opened it not long ago. An old friend asked Vicente to keep tabs on her and his daughter, but the man's recent exploits had him pulling double duty of it, almost. Because now this burden would need to be passed to someone else. Valentino, perhaps?
Vicente turned back, to start again the other way. His eyes scanned the rickety potted plant that hung overhead, each minor gust of wind causing it to sag further. "I'd watch out, if I were you," he commented, as he paced by someone, and made motion towards the potential danger.
There was little that happened in this town that could truly surprise Ivan anymore. After decades of living here, amongst vampires and werewolves, and who knew what the hell else, strange happenings were⌠well, normal. When demons popped up in town, Ivan hadnât questioned it. His wife and kid had been possessed, as had been half the town from what heâd heard, but even that, although extreme, felt like a thing that would happen here. It was not, of course, or so people had told him, but still. Demonic possession made sense in this town. A relentless fog that brought fae with it also made sense, somehow, but that, Ivan thought, as he caught sight of Vicente peering in the window of that new ice cream shop. That had surprised him.
It shouldnât have. Ivan never knew a goddamn thing that happened in this town until it was too late anyway. He sometimes wondered if his wife shielded him from a lot of it. He had never asked, and she had never said, but even that wouldnât surprise him. That would make sense. His witch wife secretly protecting him from whatever went on in town? It made sense.
But Vicente, secretly being a hunter the entire time Ivan had known him? Maybe that made sense too, but it had surprised him. It surprised him because he thought heâd known the guy. He thought the man a friend, but Vicente had lied, probably about everything, the entire time they had known each other. What a fucking shock that had been. It felt like a betrayal, finding out about it. It hurt, too, knowing that their friendship was a lie. Ivan had wondered what the point of it was, if Vicente had been fishing for information or something. Had he endangered Bianca, his friends, by striking a friendship with this man?
The thought had bothered him for a long time, but ultimately Ivan convinced himself that wasnât it. Vicente had never asked any leading questions, had never tried to pry information out of him about anyone, or anything like that. So he must have struck up a friendship to keep up appearances. It made Ivan sick to think he had helped a hunter in any way, as inconsequential as his part in the charade may have been.
Ivan hadnât sought out Vicente since finding out the truth about him. He was sure his temper would get the best of him, and then what?
Even now, the only acknowledgement he gave the man was a nod hello as he walked past him. There was nothing to sayâor so he thought.
âCome again?â Was that a threat? It sounded like a threat.
She definitely had too much wine. Mollie kept bumping into people and she had this wonderful floaty feeling. Or that might have been because she had Marisol's hand in hers the majority of the night. Either way she really needed to watch where she was going. "Oh Ivan," she grinned at him and kissed his cheek back just as enthusiastically, "Thank you so much. You look wonderful as well. Are you and Bianca matching?"
Ivan couldnât wipe the smile off his face. The sight of Mollie being so carefree and having fun made his chest swell with fondness. She deserved to have a good time, and not just tonight. âThank you! Yeah, we are! Sheâs wearing this gorgeous dress with red roses, and Iâve got this.â He pointed to the mask on his face, black with red roses. âShe thought the green completed the roses on her dress.â Ivan didnât want to be nosy, but he had to ask⌠âSo, you've got a date tonight?â
Bianca was excited for the masquerade, she so rarely had an excuse to dress up that she made sure she was going to go all out for it. But it got to the point where when she was getting ready she suddenly worried that she was doing too much. So when Ivan kept reassuring her how pretty she looked, she started relaxing and giving just as many kisses back to him.
It was exciting to be able to see Banks play like this and she wasn't going to miss it for the world. Bianca grinned as Ivan handed her a drink. "They're amazing! I'm so proud of Banks and I can't wait to tell him how great he's doing." She said as she took a sip of the drink Ivan handed her. "He knows we're here right? I want him to know we aren't missing it but don't want to be obnoxious and embarrass him. It's hard being a proud parent."
âThatâs cool!â the person next to them said, polite and disinterested. Whatever, Ivan thought. They were just jealous that Bianca and he had such an awesome kid. Ivanâs attention turned back to Bianca, so he missed the way the person inconspicuously melted into the crowd, putting some distance between them. âMe too!â Ivan always told him so. Or tried to, anyway. Banks was rarely receptive to compliments, but that didnât make Ivan any less proud of him. He just wished he could see what an amazing person he had become.
Ivan sipped from his glassâjust Sprite for him tonightâand glanced back at the stage. He bobbed his head to the music, considering Biancaâs question as he watched Banks play. Banks didnât seem to be aware of their presence at all. If he had spotted them in the crowd, he hadnât bothered to make it known. It was no different from all the other shows Ivan had attended, but that was fine. He wasnât here to be acknowledged, he was here to support his son. âIâm sure he does! Maybe weâll catch him after the first set and we can tell him how great they sound tonight, but until thenâŚâ Ivan pulled out his phone and switched it to the front-facing camera, turning his back to the stage. âSelfie! Get in here.â
Buzz around town about the Midnight Mirage re-opening had been happening for weeks. As the date became nearer and nearer, Roman debated on attending. The day before, he decided it was not worth his effort. Even told everyone who asked that he would not be attending and would be relaxed on his couch watching highlights of different football games throughout the week. Yet, the night of the re-opening something spurred him to get dressed. It had been ages since he went to something he needed to dress up, in fact the last time was when his wife was on his arm and the two strolled in completely lovesticken with each other causing anyone around them to be nauseated. The old suit was classic and slick and remained in style all these years later. It was a little loose on him, he lost weight since then. But, staring at himself he thought for an old man he still had it.
When he arrived, he was not sure what to do first. There was someone he wanted to ask to dance with. Before he could search the premises, he was greeted by a dear and near friend. âIvan,â as Ivan drew him in, he decided to give in and hug the man back. After all, it was Ivan that helped him through a lot over the years after his wifeâs passing. The man remained by his side, despite Romanâs insufferable personality shifts.. âMy friend, how are you? Where is your beautiful wife?â Roman nodded, âhonestly. Wasnât expecting to show up. It's kind of just a last minute thing.â The wolf rolled his eyes, âthanks man, not too shabby yourself. Seriously though, you look great man. Gotta give me that secret to looking young.â
âIâm good. Feeling good.â Ivan ran his hands down the front of his suit jacket and buttoned it, showing off the fit of his suit. âLooking good,â he said, then grinned when Roman asked about Bianca. âBut not as good as my beautiful wife. Sheâs right over there.â Ivan pointed to where she was seated at their table, chatting animatedly with others. To him, she stood out above all the attendees, radiant and beautiful in her blood red dress. Even if Roman didnât spot her right away, Bianca saw Ivan looking her way and waved. Ivan, being the ridiculous man that he was, blew her a kiss before turning his attention back to Roman. Already there was alcohol in his friendâs breath, but Ivan said nothing of it. He hadnât, for a number of years now. It had never done any good and only pushed Roman away. Still, Ivan remained optimistic that his friend would want to seek help someday and he was determined to be there for him when that happened.
âLast minute or no, Iâm glad you changed your mind!â Although with alcohol so readily available, the Mirage wasnât the best place for them to be. Still, Roman wouldâve been drinking anyway, and at least this way he wouldnât be alone, and Ivan⌠Ivan would do his best. Temptation was everywhere tonight, but luckily his wife was the most tempting of all. He glanced over at her again just as she had a sip of her champagne.
He would do his very best.
âThanks! Iâve already told you my secret, you just donât want to believe what a daily multivitamin and proper hydration can do for a guy.â Ivan laughed. âAnyway, donât let me keep you all night, cause I will. You know where Bianca and I will be.â He waved in the direction of their table. âSo come join us later if you want, alright?â

Ivan grinned widely, his eyes on his wife and her rosy cheeks as she threw her head back and laughed at whatever stupid thing he just said. What was it, again? Ivan couldnât remember. She was always so endearing, and even more so when she let loose and let herself have a good time. Ivan could have spent the rest of the evening sitting here making her laugh, but then Roman walked in. Ivan was shocked to see him, but pleasantly surprised too. He had to go say hi. He pressed a kiss to Biancaâs lips and excused himself with promises to be right back. It was Roman, so she understood. Ivan rushed over, a big smile on his face. âRoman!â Ivan pulled him into a hug as he always did, in spite of any protests Roman may or may not give. âYou made it! I was starting to think youâd skip the whole thing.â His smile remained as he looked him over, noting his clothes werenât an exact fit. So it had been a last minute decision then? Whatever it was, Ivan was glad to see him. âYou look great!â
Ivan was making his way through the crowd, an empty glass in each hand, when he bumped into someone.
âOh sorryâMollie!â Â
He had waved hello when he first spotted her earlier that evening and had seen her several more times throughout the night, but this was the first time he had seen her alone. âHi!â With his hands full as they were, Ivan opted to kiss her cheek in lieu of the usual hug he greeted her with and smiled. âHow are you? You look amazing by the way! Very elegant and cool.â
