Retirement hasn't looked anything like I imagined. Instead of traveling and relaxing, I've spent weeks digging trenches, fixing drainage, and tackling one unexpected home project after another. But somewhere beneath all that dirt... God buried a blessing. This week on the blog, I share how one little coworker in a pair of work gloves completely changed the way I saw this difficult season. Sometimes the blessing isn't the end of the trial. Sometimes it's what we discover while walking through it.

I retired less than a month ago. Like many people entering retirement, I had dreams of travel, adventure, writing, and exploring what God might have next. What I didn't fully anticipate was this: House projects. Lots of house projects. Since moving into our new home, we've encountered one unexpected challenge after another. More than once, I've found myself asking: "Lord, why this?" Maybe you've asked similar questions. Perhaps not about a house. Maybe about your health, your family, your work, or a responsibility you never asked for. This past Friday, I retired. For more than 40 years, I had a simple answer when people asked: "What do you do?" But what happens when that chapter ends? This week I'm reflecting on identity, retirement, family, purpose, and the most important truth I've discovered: The most important thing about me isn't what I do. It's whose I am. A child of God. And that's an identity that never retires.

What if the giant causing you fear isn't out there... but living inside your own mind? One of my readers recently asked me that question, and I've been reflecting on it ever since. Paul's answer wasn't "try harder." It was: "Present your requests to God." Maybe the path to peace isn't gaining more control. Maybe it's surrendering the illusion of control to the One who has it already.

Maybe our prayers are too small. Throughout Scripture, God moved powerfully when ordinary people prayed bold, impossible prayers with complete confidence in Him. Pentecost reminds us that the same Spirit who empowered the early Church still lives in us today.

We all have a thorn. Something we wish God would remove. Something we’ve asked Him to take away. Maybe more than once. Paul had one too. And God’s answer wasn’t explanation. It was grace. This is what God told Paul, and what He tells us today: “My grace is sufficient for you.”

**What if the Christian life is about more than obligation? More than trying harder? What if one of the deepest truths of Scripture is this: God actually wants us to enjoy Him?**

**We live in a world that never slows down. But Jesus did something different— He rested… even in the middle of a storm. What if the rest we’re looking for isn’t found in stopping life… but in trusting God within it?**

**“You are not worthy.” That lie shows up more often than we think. But God tells a very different story about who we are.**

**The world can feel overwhelming. But what carried the disciples wasn’t “somehow”… it was the Spirit. And that same power lives in you.**

**Easter is over… now what? What if the resurrection isn’t just something we celebrate— but something we’re meant to live into every day?**

**Christ is risen. And somehow… He didn’t rise alone. A reflection on resurrection, doubt, and the strange, beautiful reality that dead things don’t always stay dead.**
