Found this little guy when digging up the old compost in our backyard, so decided to make him a COMPOST GOD and give him his own shrine overseeing the new operation. So far he is doing excellent work.
Temple Radio, built for Julian and for Cosmic Campout 2023.
Julian loved radio and had an active presence on local radio, so we built the best communication device we could in hopes of reaching him. Not a lot of time for this one, only a few weeks, but we did what we could. All local red maple and oak.
Montclair Firestone
My new robot friend Montclair of the Firestone family, made from a single scrap bike frame.
Cosmic Bloom (2023)
Effigy for Cosmic Campout in 2023. Alien biology, but nominally a giant suspended carnivorous plant.
Originally designed so an individual could step inside and pull a giant cow bone on a rope and the plant would close around them, "eating" them. Turns out 10' long wooden petals, even with lighweight construction, are way too heavy for this to work :(
So we turned the rope into a boosh cannon.

Cut this tree down on our housing site. Kristen milled, planed, sanded and we turned into some built ins for our daughters closet. Light Tung oil finish
The Forge of Hephaestus
The Forge of Hephaestus, probably the most interactive and incredible build I have ever designed. Built by an incredible crew. This project nearly killed me but I'm not sure I'll ever see its like again.
The forge was a 4000lb limestone structure built on-site in 48 hours, inside a ruined greek temple. The forge contained a lichtenberg device, a 40k volt lightning machine that would take laser cut wooden swords and etch them permanently with powerful magicks.
The users wield limestone hammers and a power control to shape the process.
The temple facade was a stunning CNC work by James Mercer.
The lightning ceiling was made by Zach Vonler
Hammer tech by David Haddad
High voltage controls and tech by Tom Haddad
Stone Masonry and lichtenberg by my co-lead Jaime Diaz
Mediterranean Fabric Facade by Elif Alfa
Steel Forge Power Control by Lauryn Darci and Chris Hudson
Teeny tiny temple.
Built for my brother Collin, as always, for burning man 2019.
Burned with the big temple.
Was a journey bringing it out there. By some stroke of luck I found a piece of the base in the rubble after the temple burn and brought it back home to sit on my altar.
The Karmadillo. Our first build in the burnerhood, stood at a crossroads in Polecat Creek. A metaphor for choice. So of course we burned it just before we moved home to NY.Â
All pieces of previous builds, test cuts etc. The wings are dervish CNC cutouts I saved for 4 years! the body is a Temple Arc, the altar is a forge of hephaestus pillar. The face is a spare rocketship fuselage!
One on my favorite builds ever, a lot of memories in here.
Summer Solstice 2020, built a small effigy to burn for a mushroom gathering out on Polecat creek. Beautiful little burn and some much needed socially distanced contact during the height of the pandemic.
All scraps and natural materials as usual!

In anticipation of the arrival of our daughter, Ashe Artemis Anderson, I built a small childrens bookshelf. The sides were chainsawed off that fallen cherry log on my parents property (yes this is the third project that has used that wood!)
The shelves are made of scrap maple flooring my parents had in their woodpile. Feels nice, as always, to skip the materials and use stuff thats just laying around
The Rainbow Rocket, the project that started it all. The first piece of large art I ever built. I signed up for Flipside 2017 thinking that everyone, or most people anyway, brought a piece of art to burn! Turns out thats really not how burning works but I’ve hung on to it and joined the effigy crews and now I burn something at every burn!
The rainbow rocket flat packed and assembled without any tools. Cut on a shopbot CNC at Austin Techshop (RIP).
Whirling Dervish Gates, built for my camp Rumi’s Tea House for Burning Man 2017.
Assembled just moments before the (semi famous) 2017 dust storm which damaged them pretty badly, but Rumi’s still sets them up every year.
Cut on a shopbot CNC at Techshop Austin (RIP). Made the little tokens on the laser because I already had the vector file. Made great gifts!
Back in 2019 I built a rocket ship bike to ride around burning man, and I emblazoned it with a CNC stencil for my (very real) space trading outfit DA INTERPLANETARY.
I’m excited to say I am now building an interplanetary fuel depot under the same name now in Ithaca NY. If you’ve got a space ship, stop by! We will have hookups for vans and RVs so folks can stop in and fuel up!Â
Construction has already begun and I expect to finish in 2023!
Had to cut down a sick cherry tree on my parents land last summer. Dragged the log out this year and decided to make a bench put of it. Practiced my hand tools a bit (still learning) and then did some surprisingly effective mortise and tenon work with a chainsaw.

Hokora Fukurojin
A tiny home for a shinto spirit, the old god of luck and longevity. Built from all scrap wood for my mothers Japanese garden.
Burning Flipside 2020 was cancelled because of coronavirus, but folks still got together (socially distanced) and burned some art.
My contribution was this teeny tiny temple called "Just roll with it" built entirely from scrap wood, cable spools and cutoffs from my neighbors new deck rails.
Burned real good
