Power Scaling Debates Are Wack…
The other day I came across this photo…. Please tell me why people are doing this…
Brother please…
Let’s look at this logically and not just assume how things are going to go. First impressions people think these characters should be scaled to their full power in there in respected comics/games etc. For the most part it’s a battle of Raw Power vs Pure Adaptation.
To be completely fair I’m only talking about who I see in photo as is. Not to say these dudes can’t go all out but you’ll understand what I mean soon enough. So let’s start with the weakest of the bunch
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nemesis from Resident Evil: Surprising nobody is this very basic building level opponent. Is he very terrifying to run into randomly? absolutely. But he has nothing against the rest of the heavy hitters we have. At his base form he’s shown to easily bust through concrete walls, single-handedly overpowered trained soldiers and use heavy weapons equipment like mini-guns and rockets launchers like he’s carrying around a kids lunchbox.
Speed wise he’s pretty consistently dodging gun fire though caliber varies, with that type of speed he can comfortably catch up and run along side moving vehicles and be able to blitz normal humans so fast they don’t even know what hit them.
His durability is also consistent, no normal means of damage can put him down. This monster can be shot, burned, blown up, fall from insane heights and be electrified so intensely most people would explode from the current, and Nemesis still keeps going. It’s honestly insane and terrifying seeing him in the game coming to get you.
Against anime/comic high-tiers, he gets outscaled pretty quickly because Resident Evil stays relatively grounded compared to universes like One Punch Man, Invincible, Marvel, or Dragon Ball. Which is why he’s at the bottom of Team Adaptation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Darwin, from X-Men: Darwin from X-Men is one of the most broken “survival” characters in Marvel because his mutation is reactive evolution — his body automatically adapts to survive literally any situation. He’s grown gills to breath underwater, became bulletproof, adapted to the vacuum of space, he also develops super speed and strength/reflexes when needed. And just become overall more durable to survive the situation. There is a downside to his mutation, it doesn’t always make him stronger mid-battle most of time his power prioritizes survival over not-winning. In one instance Darwin was pitted against the Hulk and instead of fighting him his power just teleported him away. Any unwinnable fight his body just takes him away.
It terms of strength he’s primarily Street Level physically but can temporarily reach higher level of strength depending on the opponent/environment with his adaption. He’s not usually an offensive powerhouse like Thor or Superman, but his survivability lets him hang around absurd threats.
He’s speed is only comparable to Superhuman Levels but when his adaption is in play his reaction speed far exceeds that at the level of Hypersonic.
Overall scaling, his attack power is street tier depending on the situation, superhuman levels of speed and extremely high to unkillable levels of durability/hax. Making him slightly stronger than Nemesis but paints a solid baseline of the bottom tier.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Sentinels from X-Men Days of Future Past: Sentinels are among the strongest mass-produced enemies in superhero movies. They’re far beyond the older comic-style giant robots and operate closer to adaptable extermination machines. They do such good job in fact that in the X-Men future timeline they damn near win the war between machines and mutants. Skynet eat your heart out. To make things fair in the photo they only show one Sentinel, so I’ll only be talking about one Sentinel. But that doesn’t mean it can’t hold its own.
A single Sentinel is strong enough to beat most street to mid-tier level of mutants, thought Omega Level mutations can still one shot them. The overall strength of the normal Sentinel is estimated to be over multiple tons and can easily match the strength of a Hulkbuster Armor… that’s just one, now imagine a whole army coming at you.
Their speed can be underrated because people don’t take into account that in the movie the Sentinels are casually reacting to Blinks teleportation windows and quickly dispatching her while she’s on the defensive. Making them at least Hypersonic in reaction speed, but sits more comfortably at Bullet-timing+ on average.
The Sentinels durability and adaptive mimicry coincide with one another, being able to analyze mutant powers and restructure their bodies to develop counters in seconds. Wether it being frozen at below zero, being burned at temperatures closer to the surface of the sun, nothing seems to slow down The Sentinels. But they're not unstoppable, raw force can overpower them and there's a limit how much of their body they can regenerate.
A typical Sentinel is around small building to city-block level in scaling to cap this fighter out.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spider-Man from Marvel Comics: Our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is the first character on the Power Team that sets up the bottom scale for us. There’s no real indication of which version of Spider-Man they’re using in the meme but regardless of what version he is wether it’s MCU or Insomiac, I'll be using Earth-616 Spider-Man for this scaling. And yes, I know that the 616 Spider can be pretty beefy but that's if you included other universes in comparison. I'm just sticking with the regular version is to not make things complicated.
His base strength is pretty impressive considering his size, he's shown to overpower a speeding train, damage giant robots (like The Sentinels), and give super soldiers like Captain America and The Winter Solider a run for their money as well as Marvel heavy hitters like The Hulk and Rhino. He's casually shown to lift at or around 25 tons, but under extreme circumstances his lifted double that when stressed/full of adrenaline.
Speed and reflexes is where he becomes terrifying because of his Spider-Sense giving him near-precognitive reactions. Being able to dodge energy based attacks as well as lighting on multiple instances. While at speed he's still aware enough to swing through Manhattan with extreme acrobatic skills. He's so agile that stronger character struggle to even lands hits on him.
What surprises me is people think Spider-Man isn't tough, you couldn't be more wrong. He's shown to tank large explosions, be thrown through several buildings, and survive hits from Hulk-level impacts from time to time.
Another overlooked Spider-Man ability is his genius level intelligence, expert engineering skills, and like Tony Stark make specialized suits for any occasion.
Spider-Man is one of those characters who beats people stronger than him because of reaction speed, creativity, and Spider-Sense which is absurd.
Which is why at the bottom of this power scaling list Spider-Man would definitely be able to take down Nemesis from Resident Evil with ease. Darwin would be offensively untouchable but he wouldn’t have anything damaging enough to hurt Spider-Man either. The Sentinel may give him some trouble at first, they both have similar stats but like I said before, Spider-Mans creative fighting style and Spider-Sense give him the edge to take care of the bottom of the barrel of the Adaptation Team.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mahoraga from Jujutsu Kaisen: The Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General himself is very underrated in his own verse, being able to defeat 99% of the JJK characters with little to no effort. But for some reason every time he shows up in the anime or manga he has to battle the 1% that mops the floor with him.
Being the strongest Shikigami from the Ten Shadows Curse Technique, his defining power is its ability to adapt to any phenomenon after experiencing it. The wheel above its head turns each time adaptation progresses. Once adapted, attacks that previously damaged it become ineffective or heavily resisted, whether it be physical damage, energy based, regeneration patterns and spatial attacks.
The reason I put Mahoraga above Spider-Man, is because he’s strength and speed absurdly outclass him even at their strongest. Mahoraga’s raw strikes can lift and obliterate buildings with ease. Although not the fastest in his own verse he still monstrously quick, being hypersonic+ to massively hypersonic in almost every fight he’s in. Durability is crazy as well, working together with his adaption, he can regenerate rapidly almost instantaneously the longer the fight progresses.
Mahoraga’s only weakness is this his adaptation isn’t fast, it takes time to learn and improve mid-battle so anyone who’s faster and stronger can definitely overwhelm him and destroy him if they’re quick enough. Because like I said, the longer the fighter the more powerful Mahoraga becomes, so unless his opponent can kill him in 1-shot, it’s becomes an uphill battle for anyone.
By this ranking, Mahoraga is the first character on Adaptation Team that can get a handle on the lowest ranked character Spider-Man on Power Team.
