A/N - Hey so I think some people wanted me to finish this… Not sure though. Anyway, enjoy this very long awaited finale!!
Chapter 10: Finale
Cotillion was like nothing Carlos had ever seen before.
Taking place on one of the royal family's luxury yachts, and with seemingly every last student from Auradon Prep in attendance, the energy was electric from the second they stepped onto the ship. Carlos in his fanciest clothes, with Jane looking pretty as a picture on his arm. He was proud to be there with her, even just as friends, and he knew she felt the same.
He just wished he was capable of enjoying any of it right now.
But even with the music thrumming through his body, the sight of his peers having a blast around him, and Jane's best efforts to get him to dance and have a good time, Carlos's heart just wasn't in it.
No, his heart was still locked away behind a barrier, back on the Isle.
The Isle that was constantly within view of the party, since the boat was docked between it and the mainland.
Was that Beast's great idea, he wondered, to make sure the poor villains got a front row seat to the festivities tonight? It certainly seemed like something he would do.
And he knew he wasn't the only one distracted tonight. None of his friends were capable of ignoring the island they came from, not with it looming in the distance like a mirage in the desert. Especially Mal, and Carlos was honestly surprised she even showed up at all.
Thankfully for her, she was the one of them that got a reprieve during the night, when Ben unveiled the royal portrait he'd had commissioned of them, that showed her in all of her Isle glory, proving that he'd known exactly who she was the whole time, and loved her for her, and not who she was trying to be.
The moment was sweet, but short lived.
Uma decided to crash the party then, showing up looking just like her mother in all her giant sea monster glory.
