Omg this was literally the most wonderful surprise !!??!?

          –- She SHOULD have still been tucked in bed, warm, yet here she was, wondering just WHAT in the hell was so important that two vagabonds had the audacity to get in a FIST FIGHT outside the run down shack she had claimed as her home for the night. She could have let things be, sure, but she had made such a mistake before. She was a woman. She was alone. She didn’t need the winner of whatever scuffle going on outside to then come upon her- to take advantage. 

          ~ “ No, you cannot ‘ settle ’ your disputes if that means waking ME UP at four in the damn morning ! ”

     She could care less for propriety, in nothing more than a pair of dark, muddied jeans with her red button up haphazardly tucked into the waist. Her dark chocolate waves cascaded all the way down her back, barely brushed and looking just about as wild as the men before her. Children still used their fists, men could use their words. However as for a woman? They got to use guns. There was no other way of talking sense into these fools. 

     It was then she finally brought attention to the holster at her hip, slipping out the REVOLVER, the ominous ‘ click ‘ of the hammer being drawn back- 

                                       -– BANG -!

      Without so much as a FLINCH, she pointed the gun straight into the dirt, bullet embedding itself between the pair of men as she could only pray her scare tactic would work. Face still hard as stone, she raised her gun to the strangers before her.

                                              “Thousand pardons…”

Why was she suddenly so interested about the content having hanged around her neck? Had she not known what it was before? Certainly the Londoner had a lot of questions before he’d answer any of hers. He wasn’t sure if he even should tell her to begin with even if she chose to answer his questions first. 

                                             “… a family heirloom?”

The templar asked, being curious where she could’ve gotten a piece of eden on her hands. There was another one that’s almost identical to the one that the Londoner wore around his neck.

                                               “Calm, hmm? What there’s to fear?” 

The grand master allowed the edges of his lips curl upwards for a second before he’d take his time and take the key in his hand. While his knowledge of it remained quite low, he did know; or rather so he was told, that it’d be a piece of eden. An ancient artefact that would open a storehouse. 

He might have indeed been too calm, considered that his knowledge on these things was the knowledge from others. Knowledge that might have crooked edges, information that might be crooked itself.

                                                “Talk, aye? Then you’ll probably allow me to offer a walk outside?”

          ~ WHATS THERE to FEAR ? Oh, plenty, but obviously, the man before hadn’t the first clue. Now she couldn’t help but wonder- where did he even get his damned necklace ? Family heirloom my ass. Her arms remained crossed under her bust, form leaning further back into the counter behind her. Chin lowered, amber hues suddenly grew DARK. Aggravation swirled with DISTASTE in her gaze, tongue silent as she challenged the man before her. Finally, her low voice, a warning really, broke the silence.

          ~ “ ... Great start on trying to bullshit me, but you’re going to have to try harder. And clearly, you haven’t exactly seen what these things can do. ”

     Her mouth opened to say more- the TEMPTATION at the tip of her tongue, but in the breadth of her hesitation golden irises flickered between CHURCH and the stranger before her. Where her words fell short the intensity in her amber hues did not. He knew things she didn’t- that was obvious, but it was in that split second she too realized there was so much more SHE knew that he didn’t. And she practically screamed that fact at him. SHIT. She really needed to work on some sort of poker face.

     Well, she could only pray now that this was meant to be. Perhaps he was someone she could confide in about this? This, information- these ancient artifacts. Considering he OWNED one, was it so hard to believe? God, she really had no idea, but so far, he was her best hope. If there was anyone to have more answers about those... what were they? First.. first civilization scientists- whatever, it would be someone OBTAINING one of (what she hoped was) their heirlooms.

          ~ “ Just- call me Eve. As you know people might look at you weird if you try calling a woman a doctor outside of these walls, ”

     A quick ROLL of her eyes refused to remain hidden, truly accidental as the brunette was so used to the degradation by now. She pushed herself off the counter, brushing past the man who was at least a solid FOOT taller than her. Obviously the clear fact he could break her in half between the clear WALL of muscle he was did nothing to prevent her from walking by him unfazed, stopping just past him, brief, careless glance over her shoulder as amber hues flickered between his stormy grey and the flea still standing in the room with them.

andy.  from the information that flowed from the senior doctor,  it was apparent that she was a very familiar patient with her and not just someone who had happened to roll into the emergency room older in the day.  the information was stored away in the back of his head for a moment to bring up later:  once she was stabilized,  perhaps,  not at this given moment.  

a nod of his head was given and the i.v. kit was handed over to deluca by one of the nurses who had also come over to assist with the patient.  the fact that andy was apparently dehydrated made her veins shy.  but perhaps one of the perks of being a younger doctor was that putting in a line was something that he did a little more often  ( even more so than he would like ).  a few seemingly long seconds passed before he was able to get the line in.

“got it!”

the announcement was made once the needle was in,  getting out of the rn’s way so that she could set up the potassium drip for andy.  hopefully it would be enough to get her to stabilize.

“you know the patient?”  now the question comes out.  but his focus isn’t entirely taken away from the patient and her condition as his gaze darted to monitors to see what her stats were beginning to look like.  her blood pressure was still low as was her heart rate.

          ~ She wouldn’t lie, the brunette was having a hard time focusing more than usual due to the fact that it was her FRIEND who lied on the bed and not some stranger. Despite the jeans now out of the way, it still ended up being her colleague who got the IV in before her. Not that she minded- in fact she almost EXPECTED such a thing out of the protege that Deluca was. 

          The doctor momentarily stalled in answering the question that buzzed in her ears from the intern. Instead, she watched as the potassium drip finally did it’s magic- just barely- in getting her friend’s heart rate back from a flatline. However her blood pressure was still dangerously low, amber hues FIERCE as they notioned towards the RN.

          ~ “ Keep the drip fully open. Make sure she gets both electrolytes and glucose- and once she’s stable take a complete blood panel including a GFR rate. ”

     As she spoke it allowed her fingers to deftly work, finally finding an access herself to set up a second IV. With how dehydrated Andy was, she would need two IV’s just to replenish her body of all the fluids it had been depleted of. Unfortunately, that also left her with no more distractions as there was nothing else left to do, finally forced to step away from the gurney and face Deluca. ODDLY, perhaps for the first time really- she could barely meet his gaze. Almost as if she was a five year old in trouble for taking a cookie before dinner, her hands wrung nervously at her sides as her gaze shifted.

          ~ “ Uhm. Well- sure. You could say that. She’s been my neighbor for the past year or so, ”

When the Londoner entered the shop, he saw a familiar looking man standing their back against the door. What seemed like a normal conversation between the two quickly seemed to have turned the tide. Had they had an argument before he entered? The expressions on their faces might just have revealed that for the grand master. He wasn’t easily fooled after all. Still, little did he care about what seemed like an argument about some knowledge.

                                                 To help meant killing or to doctor people… both of them did their part questioning each other’s motives. To kill bad people and to cure good people… both did good on two completely different ways. Still, in some people’s eyes the templars weren’t saviors of the earth no more or less than the colonial brotherhood. The Londoner wouldn’t let it be a ‘let’s share the blame’ type of choose of sides though.

Haytham crossed his hands behind his back, his shoes making a rather pleasant noise as they hit the wooden floor. The smell in the shop was one of elixirs and medicines mixed with wood and old books of recipes. Very pleasant but also it hid something rather mysterious in it. The Londoner found himself rather relaxed as much as he was curious as he stepped towards the two. How interesting…

                                                “Good morning doctors.”

The grand master said his good mornings to the two before his grey eyes noticed two lights peaking from two different locations. How very interesting…

                                                 “Now, what’s this?”

          –- GOOD MORNING DOCTORS -? Fascinating. He actually acknowledged her- a woman, as a doctor. However, any respect the brunette might have had instantly evaporated as she watched stony grey zone right in on her BREASTS.

     To be fair, she did have a glowing rock stuffed between her cleavage. Still, didn’t mean the guy could have a bit more couth in bringing it up in conversation.

          ~ “ Well, these are my boobs that you are not so discreetly staring at, ”

     Eve could care less for a lack of filter on her part. The colonial richman before her would just have to deal with her less than lady-like attitude as obviously, something was amiss here. Wasn’t electricity, like, not even invented yet? And yet this guy didn’t seem phased whatsoever? Shouldn’t jewelry glowing in the slightest end up SCARING him and not intriguing him? 

     Obviously, he knew something she didn’t. And she didn’t like that. Not when he could potentially have ANSWERS she had been seeking for weeks. Brow furrowing in irritation, she plucked the pendant from her shirt, revealing a flat golden rim, no greater than a quarter, and what one would mistake for GLASS in the center clearly something more with the way the crystal still ominously remained ILLUMINATED.

          ~ “ And maybe I should be asking you what this is ? You seem a bit too calm about the fact the thing around your neck is glowing- ”  

     Oddly enough, mid-sentence, said objects suddenly went DARK. Not having the first clue about the damned things, Eve went silent as her golden irises flickered between both objects, her own still suspended in the air.

          ~ “ -Uh, was glowing. Anyway. Yeah. You and I ? We should talk. ”

          – “ So, what’s exactly in your tinctures ? ”

                              ~ “ That depends. Who’s asking ? ”

     CHURCH, WAS IT? The man before her claimed to be a doctor but she wasn’t stupid. She was a doctor too. One with about 250 years of knowledge on him. He wasn’t just waltzing into her apothecary to get an eye on the competition stealing his clients. If he was a REAL doctor, he would in fact be asking her why her survival rate was so high. Why her patients were not bedridden for weeks. Why her remedies actually WORKED. Instead, this fool clearly wanted to know one thing and one thing only- how to get the money once again flowing back to HIM. Or, well, whatever it was he supported.

     To be fair, she didn’t even own this apothecary. She just worked in it, making the product the (male) owner, Mr. Smith, would sell. She still had absolutely no clue how the hell she got here, the amulet around her neck her only clue- but while she worked on that mess she at least had somewhere to survive. Colonial America was brutal. 

        – “ You should take care to watch your words, young lady, and answer my questions. ”

     A WARNING shadowing across his beady eyes, Maeve remained unfazed as she rolled her own amber hues at him. Given how people were beginning to talk, she really should be worried about this. About being discovered for- what? Witchcraft maybe? Considering nobody would believe her truth. But was she concerned? No. She crossed her arms right under her bust, still getting used to corsets from this century that she wore under her pale blue shirt tucked into yes- brown pants. So long as she hid it under her white apron skirt thing tied around her waist, nobody could tell the difference.

     Too engrossed now in the ass of a man before her, her gaze only flickered in acknowledgment to the second male to enter her shop, tricorn hat hiding his dark features. INSTANTLY she noted his luxurious gold trimmed clothes. Upper class. Great.

          ~ “ Oh wow. You’re a gentleman. Look- I’m more than happy to share with you the entire science behind this- yes, science. Not some faith based spirit elixir concocted by my great aunt. My end goal is ensuring the livelihood of each patient that walks through that door, so doctor to doctor- ”

     Whatever she was compelled to say instantly died in her throat. Obviously, given the way he strolled over to the pair, the newcomer was an acquaintance of CHURCH- and the second he stepped over, the necklace shoved under his shirt began to glow. Along with her OWN as she instantly glanced down at the abnormal light peaking out from between her breasts- ha. Wait no. SHIT. 

the emergency room never slowed down.  

he had learned that on his first day as an intern when he had accidentally come in as an intern and everyone had mistaken him for an attending when he had said that he was a doctor,  and he had continued to learn that lesson time and time again  ––  from storms to floods to the occasional meltdown of actual attendings,  there was always something happening.  it was perhaps the only predictable thing that came with such a chaotic environment.  today was no different than any other day in that particular regard.

dr. milano’s commanding voice grabbed deluca’s attention immediately.

“i got her!”  he’s larger and stronger than the other doctor by a mile even if she’s got experience on him.  andrew scooped up the unconscious woman in her arms,  easily carrying her bridal style to get her placed down on an open bed so she could be properly treated.

“let’s get her potassium and hook her up to an eeg so we can watch for any possible arrhythmias,”  he spoke with confidence yet his eyes darted to her for approval.

          ~ “ Definitely a solid starting point but let’s see if we can find a vein first, I need scissors-! ”

     A hefty blanket of RELIEF rolled off the brunette’s shoulders when it was none other than Deluca who she acknowledged to shove past her and pick up the young blonde. He was sharp and quick on his feet, two traits she always liked about him. He didn’t waste any time in getting their new patient onto a free bed- she made note to properly thank him later.

     Not too far behind, the head nurse shoved the requested item into Eve’s hands as another RN slapped some leads on and started compressions again, a makeshift team coming together like a well oiled machine. Golden irises flickered between the intern and the jeans she sliced up the leg, cloth separating like butter. 

          ~ “ Her name’s Andy. She’s too dehydrated- our best bet is a femoral vein. You try one leg while I get the other ... ”

     There was a solid moment. Despite knowing exactly what to do, all she did was FREEZE as she locked onto the grey pallor of the normally vibrant woman lying before her, lips blue, lids shut. It was one thing to treat a stranger, but Andy was a neighbor. A friend. Was it a good idea for her to be even treating her? Should she step back-? NO. She blinked as she slapped herself back into the moment. 

          ~ “ -Sorry, by the way. Thought I’d just make things a bit more lively for you guys because we all know how boring the ER can be, ”

          ~ “ God DAMNIT- ! ”

     Nothing short of a COMMOTION came barreling through the ER doors, the petite woman showing no sign of stopping as she shoved her way through the bay. Why, may one ask? 

     Given the RAG DOLL of a woman limply hanging in her arms, an iron grip keeping her form snug against the brunette’s side- one could potentially put two and two together. YET it was not enough, another string of curses flying from the female as what could only be assumed as her friend finally COLLAPSED. Pallid with grey lips, life all but gone as her body made its place on the floor, the patrons cleared the way. But the stubborn brunette REFUSED to give up just yet as she kneeled down next to the fallen woman.

     Two fingers shoved over the carotid. Bated breath. No pulse. FUCK.                   – A glance up. The first to come into her line of sight, wavy dark hair, white coat-

          ~ “ Cardiac arrest. Hypokalemic. The dumbass overdosed on diuretics now can I please get some help ?! ”

I’m giving this blog a small revamp before finally becoming active.
