so, it’s been quite awhile since i was here last. don’t have any excuses except for the fact that life / uni got me super busy, i didn’t really have the time to be on here or write at all ( besides what was required for me to finish the previous semester, which i’m so happy to be finally over ) and the past few months have been crazy overall. but i’m happy to be finally back and to have some time to hang out here and write, as i did miss writing and talking to the awesome people i’ve talked to through here ;~; 

if we’ve plotted / written together before and you would still like to continue where we left off ( the same plots or starting over, either is fine! ), please interact with this post or message me! i would love, love to hear from you guys and to see if you’re interested in writing with me -- or just to talk, really :)

i’ve come home after spending the past weekend out of state to watch a concert with my friends and now, i am spending some time with my family for the holidays. i expect my activity to return after the holidays but until then, it will be sporadic. i will be popping in here from time to time though, mostly on IMs but i will also try to get some replies done and whatnot!

VERA: Well, you didn't say it in so many words, but it was implied; I just read between the lines a lil 🤷‍♀️

VERA: I haven't yet, but I don't think there would be a drastic difference between the text version of you and the real one!

VERA: I've been told you're quite intimidating, but you seem like a softie, just a teeny-tiny bit of one 👀

VERA: Assholes are rampant everywhere, though, so I don't think it would faze me all that much.

VERA: Laughed at "If you think that, I wonder how bad it could get if you really are drunk."

VERA: Laughed at "I don't even want to think about it."

VERA: I've been told I'm a fun drunk, a jolly one, one who won't hesitate to participate in karaoke, so! If you're ever feeling karaoke, just let (drunk) me know :)

VERA: Intimidating, mysterious, brooding, aloof....you're starting to sound more and more like a man out of a YA novel 🙄

VERA: Can't you give a girl a hint?

VERA: I'll have you know that I'm not the biggest fan of surprises....

VERA: They've never turned out well for me 😔

GEON: Fair enough.

GEON: We will see about that.

GEON: You might be right with what you're told. I tend to scare people off, not sure why though...

GEON: I mean, I'm nice...I think.

GEON: That's true. You just have to learn how to handle them when they come your way...which, from the sound of it, you know how to.

GEON: I don't do karaoke but I might make an exception one time. I'm kinda curious to find out if you're telling the truth.

GEON: Don't ask me to sing though.

GEON: You read a lot? Or are you going by stereotypes?

GEON: Not sure how I feel about it either way.

GEON: Oh, someone pulled a surprise gone wrong in the past?

GEON: Then again, I'm not a big fan of surprises either so I understand.

Whoever said they’d never had a stressful Christmas season had to be lying. There was so much to do, so much to buy, so much to put on display, and for the first time in awhile Rosie was determined to make the small family’s Christmas fun and memorable. They had plenty planned to do with Elijah, like visiting Santa, making Christmas cookies, watching classic Christmas films..it was all going to be perfect. That was, until she went into early labor. Ava was supposed to make an appearance a week or so after Christmas, but she decided she just couldn’t miss all of the family fun. In under twenty four hours, their plans for a memorable holiday had to be changed. Rosie was still insistent that they try to do as much as they could, even with her body trying to heal and their sleep schedules altered for a good while. 

Gingerbread houses seemed…easy enough. Messy, but nothing that couldn’t be cleaned. Rosie watched from the couch of course, cradling their newest addition while Elijah stuck pieces of candy to iced gingerbread slabs. He was doing his best to be careful, even if the thing would be eaten in time.

It was a surprise that Leon still has the energy to do some Christmas shopping early that day despite what went down in their household the past few days. Ava’s early arrival to their world rendered all their preparation ( mentally for Leon, mostly ) useless. He thought he had it -- heck, he even had a hospital bag prepared for Rosie, but the reality of it still hit him out of nowhere and he was sent into a 24-hour roller coaster ride. Leon didn’t think he could cry so much in a day but Ava’s birth, and actually being part of it by being at Rosie’s side as much as he was allowed to that day, just squeezed all the tears out of him. Happy tears, but tears nonetheless.

Exhausting as it had been, Leon couldn’t make himself sleep after it even if he tried. He’s up more often now, making sure Rosie’s comfortable enough to make her recovery go by fast. He insisted she rest, but even that was no match to her stubbornness. So when he comes home after a quick run to the shops for some Christmas necessities, Leon helps her get settled on the couch, with their newborn snuggled up on her chest. It’s a sight he’d never grow tired of seeing, but maybe that’s just how being a parent and having a partner in life goes. 

And now he’s making a gingerbread house with their little boy, some crumbs and small pieces of a broken peppermint candy scattered on the table in front of them. Things could easily get messy and sticky but Leon didn’t mind it. Anything to make this Christmas a happy one, he’s willing to do, especially if it’s anything that could make Elijah happy. The poor kid has been pouting too much lately and Leon knew exactly why. He hasn’t been super enthusiastic with the arrival of his little sister, let alone having both his parents’ attention divided now that he’s not the only baby in the household anymore. So Leon pays him extra attention the best he could without spoiling him too much...or so, he tries.

"Done!” Elijah exclaims after a moment, the miniature and edible house finally reached its completion and ready to be eaten. “Good job, Eli! Now if you want to eat it, take a piece and give mommy one as well,” Leon’s smile immediately widens as he reaches to ruffle the boy’s curly locks affectionately. Elijah seems to know exactly what to do even before hearing his father’s instruction, taking the piece of gingerbread that momentarily served as a door and strides his way to Rosie to hand it. “Try it, mommy!” he breaks off the piece into two and eats the other half, unsure with the taste at first but he quickly returns to sit by Leon again to grab another piece.

All she had wanted was some food, a midnight snack – she hadn’t expected Minhwan’s best friend to be stalking around in the hallway in the middle of the night. Clad only in her long night shirt, panties and thigh high fluffy socks, she was now hidden behind the curtains against the window in the hallway as she stared at him with a dark gaze. What made it even worse was the fact he just seemed to be chilling out around in the dark with a glass of water, what the hell?! Speaking through gritted teeth as she kept cuddled into the curtain, hiding herself, she grumbled quietly so she wouldn’t wake up anybody, especially her brother.

“Min didn’t say you were over tonight!”

It was a miracle that Jaehyun didn’t spit out the water he had in his gob when he saw Hana come out seemingly out of nowhere wearing minimal clothing that was obviously meant for no one else but her to see. Sure, he might’ve dribbled a little, but his reflex was good enough to wipe what was trailing down his chin with his hand before she catches sight of it -- at least, he hoped. When she started scrambling to hide herself from him with the curtain ( which is already too late, but he’s not going to point that out now ), Jaehyun’s rather delayed reaction is to tear his gaze from her direction and look at the wall on his side, as if that helps with the situation at all. But when he hears her words, he is quick to give her a response. “I broke in so he doesn’t know,” not a very good response, but least it’s something he thought could help interrupt the impeding awkwardness brought by this encounter. Jaehyun takes another sip from the water and felt like he could drink it in one go as if he hadn’t just finished a glass few minutes before Hana appeared. Right, he needed the water after seeing...that.

nerves bubbled up in hyewon’s stomach as she got ready to head over to ryeo’s place. when was the last time she had been there as a guest and not to just drop her daughter off for the weekend or something? if anyone had been there to watch her get ready to head over, they would have laughed. she had changed her own outfit about a hundred times as well as her daughter’s. how silly was this when it wasn’t like she expected anything out of this. it was just two exes getting together for the sake of their daughter, nothing more. and yet, why was it that she was wishing for more still? that maybe he might see that they had made a mistake. after all, she had already seen that, but she wasn’t ready to admit it aloud to anyone but herself. and her daughter ( who wouldn’t understand a thing ).

finally, it was time to go ( since, any longer and they’ll definitely be late ) and she got byul situated in the car before she got around in the driver’s seat to head over to the other’s place. it was crazy that they really didn’t live that far from one another and yet, they still saw each other so rarely. well, then again, she supposed that that was a normal thing for exes to not see one another.

before she helped byul out of the car seat, she had to sit in the driver’s seat for a minute, collecting herself and taking a few deep breaths. finally, after two minutes, she was getting them both out of the car, carrying byul in her arms and up to his place. a knock on the door and she could hear his footsteps running towards the door.

“hey,” she noted too loudly, the enthusiasm in her voice much too great. “byul, say hi to daddy,” she exclaimed, holding the girl’s hand and waving it at the other. “thank you,” she nodded her head as she stepped inside, slipping off her shoes. “looks … great,” she added awkwardly, looking around the place before she moved to the couch so that she could set byul down to sit there. “um … how are you?” she asked, her heart pounding loudly in her chest.

closing the front door behind them, ryeo watches as hyewon walks over to the living area to sit down on the sofa ( which he silently thanked himself for managing to put it back in place in his hurry ), trailing after them slowly as he utters a simple, “ thanks,” at her words. on his way to the sofa, he reaches to grab the extra pair of house slippers he has on the corner and puts the down by hyewon’s feet. “ the flooring can get a bit cold so...here, wear them,” ryeo says, smiling sheepishly as he glances around the place, convinced that he did quite a good job making it look decent enough for the two. 

“ oh, i’ve been good...good...” and? “ how about yourself? and byul? ” ryeo’s gaze shifted to the little girl, now looking up at him with wide eyes as she’s settled on the sofa. he could get used to this, seeing the little girl as often as hyewon would allow it, and he’d be lying if he said that he couldn’t get used to seeing hyewon just as often as well. she’s always welcome to come around, just that their circumstances won’t exactly make it all seem normal. they’re divorced, as far as the law is concerned, and exes in everyone’s eyes. but it’s not like this is weird, right? hyewon is there to visit and to allow him to get close to their baby. it’s all plain and simple.

but the atmosphere that now engulfed them begged to differ. to say the least, ryeo could feel the awkwardness settling and he doesn’t like it, nor was he usually like this when it comes to having people over. he might be the most outgoing person there is but he can take pride in being able to handle people, let alone conversations, well. it’s how he made it far in his business -- which, now that he thinks of it, he shouldn’t mention if he didn’t want things to grow even more awkward for them.

Realising how stern her words had probably come across, she gave him an apologetic smile before canting her head to the side – it definitely wasn’t supposed to be said like that but she needed him to know that she definitely wasn’t as fragile as most people made her out to be. She certainly had a backbone and she could handle herself. Perhaps that’s why she had been so forceful with her wording – she wanted him to know that no matter what, it was him that she wanted to be with and no amount of chatter amongst other people or those telling them that they were from two different worlds even though they had no clue of her backstory and were just judging a book by its cover on the way that she dressed, was ever going to change her mind. All she wished was for him to stop feeling so concerned and know that this was what she wanted in life. She wanted to be away from the toxicity that was her brother and lead a happy life with the man by her side no matter what kind of shady business he was involved with.

A small gasp escaped her when he used the terminology however and she looked at him with widened eyes before stopping in her tracks. He had never said that word and she wondered if her little talk and flicked something in him like some sort of light switch. “W-what?” Eyebrows raised entirely as she pursed her lips together and gave him the sweetest smile ever imaginable. “I-I would ask a question after that…” she looked down at their hands which were interlaced together before locking their eyes together almost immediately. “Did you just call me your girlfriend?!”

Jaehyun couldn’t help but let a hint of smile tug at the corners of his lips when Hana reacts to the terminology he used when referring to her in his previous statement. It’s not accidental, of course; the male purposely said it to elicit some kind of reaction from the woman --- and he’s not at all disappointed at the way she reacted to it. He kind of expected it, but Hana seems to always exceed his expectations that many times, her reactions would catch him off guard. Still, he can always pretend to make it seem like it does not affect him as much as it actually has and when he looks at her direction, he lets the threatening smile disappear a bit.

there are so many thoughts running through misun’s mind, but they primarily dwell on whether she’ll have a job after this as well as how the fans would react. her own groupmates had long known about her dating woojin. she had told them from the moment he had asked her out, only because she never wanted them to have any secrets between them. it would be worse to have them caught in her own lie. besides, she knew that none of them would ever out her in that matter. they had been together for too long for any of them to break her trust, and with the way the news had been shared, it just wouldn’t make sense for her groupmates to have been the one to share the secrets.

she was still thinking about all these things when she realized that the voice on the other end of the phone was still speaking. “i’m alone,” she noted, biting down on her bottom lip to keep from completely breaking down at this point. “i was just in the middle of practicing. or rather, about to finish practicing. i was going to get ready to go out soon.” how funny how quickly things could change in their lives.

“come in,” she noted, rushing to the door to open it. once she had done so, she reached for his hand, tugging him inside. once she did, she held him close. “what’s going to happen?” she asked, her voice and lips quivering in fear.

woojin welcomes misun’s embrace the moment he’s safe inside the room with her, making sure the door’s closed behind them before any physical contact occurs in case someone passes by outside. the last thing he wanted is for anyone who does not know about them to see anything that could potentially make the issue worse. who knew being with someone for love would be considered some type of ‘scandal’? a sad reality for them, given the world they live in, but it’s nothing that the two of them can’t overcome.

he plants a soft kiss on her cheek, as if to kiss her tears away as a hand then soothes her back to help calm her down. “ nothing you should be scared of. it might look bad now but i know we can get through this together, ” his voice is softer than the usual, hoping that his words could ebb her worries away even just for a bit. realistically speaking, things can go really bad for them from this point on but at this point, woojin does not care what others would think of him. nothing is more important than keeping misun safe and he will do anything in his power to keep her just that. 

slowly, he pulls away to get a proper look of her, hands resting lightly just above her waist. “ i’ll speak to the managers. i’ll come clean to them,” the idea is daunting, even now, but woojin doesn’t care. he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure that nothing will break him and misun apart. especially not this kind of thing, which already did damage to other idol couples before them. he doesn’t want them to be a part of that long list. “ i hope they’d appreciate the gesture even if it’s a little bit late but...” he sighed, “ i just have to do it. maybe they can help us even just for a bit, too.” he hopes. he can only hope.

VERA: They were, but they didn't ask any more questions and I didn't see any reason to explain more than that given the happy hour crowd ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

VERA: Emphasized "Not really. Although if said as an insult, I can't promise I'd take it lightly. Hurts my ego...maybe just a little."

VERA: Ah, so if someone really wanted to upset you, ego-checking would be the way to go? Noted!

VERA: Not that I would ever use that against you; you've given me no reason to be anything but nice to you 😇

VERA: Loved "Good to know. I figured being on stage suits you best."

VERA: Surprisingly, listening to drunk people rant about shit sounds fun? Like, imagine the amount of drama I'd get to listen to and get paid for! Or how often I'd get to be a matchmaker!

VERA: I don't know, kinda sounds like a good gig to me, if I got a good group of regulars, don't you think?

VERA: Laughed at "I was going to say yes to that service fee charge but with that nickname you just gave me? Suddenly, I'm having second thoughts."

VERA: BOOOOOOO, you're no fun :(

VERA: It really isn't /that/ bad, it could've been worse actually! I just didn't have enough alcohol in my system to get to that point yet

VERA: Liked "But I'll take it."

GEON: Well, you haven't really spoken to me in person. Maybe that would change when you have.

GEON: It is a good gig. I've done that in the past, too...manning the bar is fun until you encounter assholes and your night is ruined.

GEON: Then again, you get used to it and learn to just ignore unless they act up...which would be a different story.

GEON: If you think that, I wonder how bad it could get if you really are drunk.

GEON: I don't even want to think about it.

GEON: And I can't answer that. You'll just have to see...maybe.

GEON: It is...

Jaehyun doesn’t know what’s gotten into him that day. After getting a message from Minhwan, asking him to come by his house, he was all too eager to do just that; scrambling on his way out of his apartment to drive to the other side of town and get to Minhwan’s place. But the weird thing about it was the fact that his eagerness wasn’t fueled by the idea of seeing his friend again. Hell, the two of them always hung out, whether it was to talk ‘business’ or just to spend time together, and Jaehyun sometimes felt like he’d seen Minhwan enough that he might as well consider just talking to him over the phone whenever the other felt the need to speak with him. The only one that’s stopping him from doing just that was the very ( surprising ) reason why he came over the other’s house today in the first place: Hana.

Who would’ve thought the little sister would pique his interest this much. In the past, Jaehyun regarded her exactly as that: Minhwan’s little sister, who had been kept away from the shady dealings that the two of them get themselves involved in. Jaehyun treated her quite nicely though, paying her enough attention when she comes by to say something while Minhwan easily dismisses her, obviously wanting to have her out of sight so as to not risk her overhearing things she’s not supposed to hear. But even then, Jaehyun couldn’t think of the exact moment when his attitude towards her changed. He just noticed himself paying more attention to her lately, wondering where she was when he hadn’t seen her shadow when he was around, even to the point that he would actually ask Minhwan about her, to which he would just say “ probably in her room ” and that was the end of it. Not for Jaehyun though...far from it.

So while in the middle of a talk with Minhwan and three other men in their ‘group’, he finds himself unable to fully focus, his mind drifting elsewhere until he notices his friend staring at him and he snaps out of his trance. the last thing he wanted is for Minhwan to catch on something, especially this. Beating someone up would’ve been easier to explain than telling him that he might be seeing his sister quite differently as of late. Not as Hana, Minhwan’s little sister, but Hana as a woman. 

“ Hold on, let me just go to the restroom real quick, ” is Jaehyun’s way of excusing himself, his mind not really with the other men while discussing next plans ( and targets ), but since it’s a normal-enough act from him, Minhwan just waves him off and continues on with the talking. So Jaehyun takes his time, navigating through the familiar corridors, hoping that he’d catch sight of the one person he’s looking for. It’s almost like he’s leisurely strolling at a park, glancing around to see if Hana would come by any chance. But he reaches the bathroom door with an almost disappointed sigh. Maybe on his way back, she’d come out -- but then, as he reaches for the knob, the door pops open and a pair of doe eyes stares back up at him. Hana. All of a sudden, Jaehyun doesn’t know what to say; only stepping aside to let her out despite his mind screaming for him to say something. 

VERA: Hm, the only thing they said was that you don't usually drink on the clock when you aren't schmoozing...so, you could say they were taken aback at the request

VERA: Whether it was because of you drinking or ordering outside of your usuals, I couldn't tell

VERA: Liked "Well, wrong sent texts are wrong sent texts. And managers who fire people for receiving one from an employee when they know well that the cursing wasn't aimed at them are just dumb."

VERA: Thank you for understanding 😭

VERA: Something tells me you wouldn't take too kindly to be calling a bitch and I'm not one to go around calling people outta their name 🙄

VERA: Unless they deserve it, but that's beside the point

VERA: You're innocent...for now, but I have my eyes on you

VERA: What can I say? I may have considered applying for the open bar position you had, but didn't for obvious reasons

VERA: I prefer being on stage more 😉😘

VERA: Bartending always looked fun though, so who knows, I might take it up as a hobby later!

GEON: Were they now?

GEON: Not really. Although if said as an insult, I can't promise I'd take it lightly. Hurts my ego...maybe just a little.

GEON: Then I have to make sure to live up to that impression...don't want you to think of me otherwise.

GEON: Good to know. I figured being on stage suits you best.

GEON: I've seen you, so I think it'd be a shame to put you behind the counter and have you listen to drunk people rant about how miserable their lives are.

GEON: I was going to say yes to that service fee charge but with that nickname you just gave me? Suddenly, I'm having second thoughts.

Nothing she could ever say was ever going to change his mind and she knew that but she could at least try and make him feel a little bit better in some respect. “I have grown up around it all. I will always be associated with it because of my brother. It doesn’t even matter anyway. People are always going to talk and judge but let them – I’m so tired of people telling me how to run my own life. Everyone thinks I’m innocent but I’ve seen a lot more stuff than you care to imagine.” She looked up at him and shrugged as though she didn’t even care anymore – it was stuff that would always continue to haunt her, that much was for sure but she couldn’t get rid of the memories no matter what. They were ingrained into her now so it was just something she was going to have to deal with. “You’re asking me to be understanding but haven’t I always been understanding? Haven’t I always waited no matter what?”

She bit down on her lower lip and chuckled softly when he nudged her playfully and she stopped walking before moving in front of him and inclining her head to the side, long hair falling over her shoulders as she gazed up at him with those doe like orbs which she knew pretty much got her everything she wanted if she played her cards right. “Yours would be big on me though… it would mean I would be quite covered up. I could always get leather lingerie and start off with your jacket if I get a little cold.” The tone of her voice was teasing and before he could reply, she was letting go once more and walking ahead of him, fingers locked behind her back as heels clicked against the pavement.

Jaehyun couldn’t help but smile at her words, at the fact that they were true but also, particularly with how firm she delivered them. She’s always been gentle in his eyes -- or at least, the gentlest person he knows in contrast to himself and the others he knows in life, and when she speaks with such tenacity that shows just how strong she actually is, it surprises Jaehyun but all in a good way. “ I can never win a discussion with you, huh. Always the smart one between us two,” he humors, refusing to call it an ‘argument’ anymore because the word sounds more negative to him than otherwise. The last thing he wanted to have with her is any more argument. He thought they have had enough of that for the day.

VERA: There's a first time for everything! And I happened to take this one, hehe 😈

VERA: You look like the hard liquor type so I'm gonna say anything with bourbon or rum?? Am I getting warmer???

VERA: It wasn't the missent text I was worried about, just the content...it could have be interrupted wrong, but I'm relieved you're being good-natured about it because I don't what I would've done if you weren't 💀

VERA: I also didn't have a safe first-impression to fall back on and speak for my character since we haven't had an official conversation yet so

VERA: That's why I was worried!

VERA: For what it's worth, the trainee was doing pretty well until they got swamped, so I think it's just the nerves

VERA: And it's not like drunk people are all that pleasant to deal with, too, so they're doing the best they can given tonight's rush

VERA: I can't speak for the other bartenders, though

VERA: Don't be so hard on yourself! Your job is to manage, not babysit, and you can't be everywhere all the time, monitoring everything

VERA: No one's expecting that from you, either, since you already have enough to deal with in keeping the doors open and lights on

VERA: So, cut yourself some slack or you're going to need something a lot harder than a rum and coke 😤

GEON: You guessed too well...kinda suspicious.

GEON: Are you sure you haven't secretly asked the bartenders before about the drinks I usually get?

GEON: Well, wrong sent texts are wrong sent texts. And managers who fire people for receiving one from an employee when they know well that the cursing wasn't aimed at them are just dumb.

VERA: Hey! I swear just as much as the next person because trying to censor myself is useless if I can only remember to do it for one sentence

VERA: I'm not having second thoughts, I was just making sure you didn't want me to place a Starbucks order, too!

VERA: You seem a little too edgy for Starbucks' general clientele, though.

VERA: You look more like a Dunkin' Donuts guy; they have a no questions asked policy, you know

VERA: I didn't? That's a relief because I really didn't want to find a new job 🤡

VERA: And we were supposed to meet last week, I think? But you got called out before my set ended, so it looks like that was your bad 🙄

VERA: I can't figure out what's worse, though

VERA: Me accidentally ratting out the barkeeps for their poor inventory checks or you thinking the perfect place to unwind on a Friday night is the same place you're in what, 6? 7? days a week?

GEON: Fair enough. Plus, I'm not asking you to censor yourself so you can swear all you want, I won't judge.

GEON: Ah, edgy...that's a new one.
